Who's Your Robot?

My first robot were Ariel and I sort of went about the game rather directionless. Ended up with a robot revolution and Ariel making her own child, that made me rather happy actually, seeing an ending were the robots take over but everything works out fine and life continues on.

Ariel. Human sized with a Venetian Mask. She is my right hand as i rule over the world.

Ariel was my first robot. Humanoid. Really high autonomy and military. I fought the war with China, made transformers for, and then took over Alaska, which I renamed Freedonia. Didnā€™t find an option to completely take over the world, probably made the wrong choices for that.

My first robot was a humanoid named Legion after the Mass Effect character. Despite his namesake he had a very low military score with high grace and empathy. Dr Shepard and Legion prevented the outbreak of the Sino-American war and rebuilt their old tech company Geth which they had originally donated to charity. Robots ended up taking over most of the functions of day to day life before Dr. Shepard introduced flaws to allow humans to better compete with their robot co-workers.

Canā€™t take over the world in the military sense. But you can take it over in a shadowy sense in the grace (singularity) ending available with high grace, as long as your robots donā€™t have too great an autonomy.

How has no one named their robot Bender yet?

What would be the point? Alcohol-based fuel cells arenā€™t a power option.

Grace was my weak point, never could seem to raise it too high. And I couldnā€™t help picking up autonomy. The robots clearly could think for themselves, so I treat them like people. Autonomy ended up my second highest stat after military.

(Because Iā€™m an unoriginal nerd with an unhealthy bsession with character, my usual playthroughs always feature the same MC and Robot: an AU version of my OC, Doug Sorley, and semirecreation of Rider from Fate/Zero. Each playthrough I do more or less stays the same.)

Iskandar begin his life as a small and simple plastic humanoid robot; a human-like face that adeptly leapt over the uncanny valley, ordinary bipedal legs, tactiley-sensitive, soft hands, and with his programming based in C++ in an encrypted, tamper-proof hard drive. His creator, Dr. Doug Sorley, reared him through the classic K-12 curriculum and playing at the playground, while fostering empathy, grace, and healthy autonomy in the fledgling robotic lifeform. Dougā€™s biggest drive while raising Iskandar was the dream that everyone would have their ideal and eternal companion. The two recieved national fame after an article about them was published and a subsequent appearance on the Late Show, where Iskandar sang ā€œMapsā€ by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs; Doug was touched, if somewhat embarassed, by the dsiplay of sentiment.

The death of Dougā€™s father further spurred him to improve his robotic technology, adding medicine to the list of capabilities his robots would have. With the found of his company, Aionian Hetaeroi (Eternal Companions), he purused selling his robots as exceptional (and affordable) surgeons and doctors as well making them available to the general public. Aionian Hetaeroi, based in Silicon Valley and completely automized, was a rousing success; and with the initial success, Doug start various charities, began paying his robot employees full wages, and finally perfected Iskandarā€™s body as perfectly human-like and biomimetic, setting the standard of all his future robots.

Perhaps it was because he was supplying his robots solely to American companies or maybe it was an inevitability, but his company began being targeted by hackers trying to steal his designs. Though Aionian Hetairoi rebuffed the attacks well, the ensuing political turmoil gave rise to the Sino-American War. Relunctantly, Doug agreed to supply the US military with robots to aid in the war effort. He built humanlike robots that would fight alongside the human soldiers, but didnā€™t instill in them the fear, rage, and sorrow that plagued humans in wartime; this decision to deploy such valiant robots inspired bravery and tenacity in the human forces, who gladly foughht beside them. Furthermore, Doug supplemented the Armed Forces by enhancing his Medical Robots to nigh miracle-workers. The war came to a head when a squad of robot soldiers defiantly detonated their nuclear payload in the Gobi Desert, rather than their ordered target of a civilian population; their finally words were, ā€œThis is what Doug would want.ā€ They were right; and though Doug was heartbroken by their sacrifice, it was one of the proudest moments of his life. China surrended, America was victorious, and the President honored Doug for the role he played. But the weight of his involvment, the casualties: Chinese, American, human, robot;they would haunt hi for the rest of his life.

The war over, Doug took stock of his creations. They had experienced immersion in human society as workers and friends and they fought alongside humans as comrades. It was time to cross into the one of greatest frontiers in human-robot relations: love and companionship; it was time for Dougā€™s dream to be realized. He himself led the way by building for himself Alexander, the first in his companyā€™s long line of companion robots. Doug continued to teach Iskandar and Alexander about humanity, its emotions, and pleasures. From exposing the to the simple pleasure of tasting food, to the buzz of alcohol and spirits, to dancing, and finally to the pleasures of the flesh. Ultimately, Doug and Alexander moved to Canada to officially marry.

In the end, Doug underwent surgery to remove part of his brain, which due to a the genetic disorder Algernonā€™s Disease caused him to experience siezures, and replaced it with an AI core, with the intent to gradually and eventually convert to a fully robotic body. But for now, he was just happy to be alive and with his family: his husband Alexander, their son Kaito (named for the ocean Doug had seen a dream or two), Iskandar, and Iskandarā€™s new robotic son Iskandar 2.

Iā€™ve played several times, but my first playthrough was my favorite; not knowing what was coming, I made enough mistakes to make the story feel real, but still got a wonderful story and happy endingā€¦maybe?

My first Robot was named Miku, and I focused the game on building her and teaching her to be as human as possible. I put everything into taking care of her, and other relationships suffered a bit, though I wasnā€™t a complete shut-in. Miku and I created Singularity, making a solid profit while really working to just bring robots ever close to human. Unfortunately, in my haste to do that, I did help spark the sino-american war, and cause the US to lose it. It didnā€™t end so well for the country (oops) but I got out of it with most of my finances intact, though not without spending a while in jail, after being caught trying to check into what information the government had on me. Stupid.

Shortly after getting out, I decided to take the next step with robots, and created Flame, the first companion robot for myself, the robot Iā€™d once dreamed of who had sparked the entire story. We feel in love, enjoyed a wonderful romance, and moved to Canada to be married, treating Miku as our daughter. On finding out about my fatal condition, I took it as a chance to take yet another step into the future, and created a robotic body for myself, so that I could live forever, or close to it, with Flame and Miku. I chose to make the transfer final for my biological self, on the perhaps selfish hope that it would mean I myself would live on in my new body, so I could continue to be with my family. I built my new body, prepared myself, told Flame and Miku I loved them, flipped the switch-

THAT ENDING. Iā€™ve played a ton of CoG games and other interactive novels by now, but this one is killing me, the simple not knowing. Iā€™m not sure if the abrupt ending is supposed to be a Sopranos style ending, instantly deadā€¦which, wouldnā€™t be the worst ending, since at least Iā€™d know Flame and Miku had a copy of me to live on withā€¦and, really, wouldnā€™t ever even know it wasnā€™t the original meā€¦or if it was meant to just leave it completely open to the reader as to whether or not it was the end for me, or if I would awake in my new body. At first I took the lack of the ā€œaliveā€ achievement to mean the former, but then thinking about it, adding the achivement would sort of dictate that I did survive and live onā€¦so I do think itā€™s just supposed to be a completely open ending.

Which isnā€™t really helping me stop thinking about it much. Of course, Iā€™m going to imagine that I woke up with my robotic lover and child, and lived on for millenia with them to constantly improve ourselves and explore everything an entire universe had to offer, because thatā€™s just sorta me and what I need out of it.

But still, the ending.

My bot was Genesis, wooden, winged, swiss army knive hands, and super autonome and a lot empathic. She was very curious and a little unpredictible, but stayed loyal and loved my character. She was his companion in everything he has done. Thatā€™s why iā€™m upset with the fact that in the end it was not her on the cliff with my character but my other robot Ɓgape, who abandoned me >: ( (i choose the dream of the cliff, with the option ā€œwe traveled the world together, exploringā€)
I actually played again to try change that, making Genesis the one in the cliff instead of Ɓgape, but i couldnā€™t do that. Does anybody hnows if is possible to makw your first bot to appear in the cliff instead of the second?

Iā€™ve played several times, but I liked the playthrough I did where I tried to get as much empathy as I could most. I think I ended out at about 60 but the rest of my stats were like way far behind. There was this other playthrough where I got 72 military, but thatā€™s another story.

Basically, I built this robot that I believe walked on two legs and had t-rex arms. I think it had a puppet head as well, but I forget. I remember I started working for U.S Robots, but I walked out after Josh wanted to provide the military with combat robots and I didnā€™t. I was also in a relationship with Ellyā€”I forget if we were married by chapter 5 or notā€”but I encoded a message in flower language to get her to move to Canada when that government guy started poking around. I made a companion robot, but it wasnā€™t really meant to be a romantic partner. It still strained things with Elly; eventually the robot left after some complications. I also stopped developing the companion robots. In chapter 7 I came back from my momā€™s houseā€”she didnā€™t die because of my technologyā€”and had that stroke. I decided to get that part of my brain replaced, but not with a robot core. That was successful, and me, Elly, Pickle and our child were celebrating a birthday party as the game ended.

Iā€™ve considered writing a fanfic about this path, but I forget some of the details and Iā€™m also not completely sure if the author is agreeable to fanfiction being written about his work. I also donā€™t know how to get in contact with him to ask; does anyone know if heā€™s got a twitter or something?

Iā€™ll end off this post with a brief description of another game I played; the one in which I had 72 military. In that one, my relationships were low and my humanity was in the single digits for a while. I built this metal robot with, as I remember, multitool hands. I started my own company, ran Josh out of business, and ended off with like 40 wealth. I also took over Alaska, crushing all American forces and making the country pretty much run by robots. My mom died in that one; I didnā€™t make the technology able to save her. So did I, after trying to get that part of my brain replaced with a robot core.

My favourite robot is one Iā€™ve done multiple playthroughs with. He started out as a wooden robot with a drone body and puppet head and delicate hands named Sapling, and later on got a furry body.
He had transhuman empathy, good autonomy and grace, and nonexistent military.

Her name was MEIKO, after the first Japanese Vocaloid ever commercially sent out and the first Vocaloid who had a voicebank made. Iā€™m a nerd, my protagonist was too. She had good Empathy and Autonomy and transhuman Grace. She looked vaguely humanoid save for her multitool hands and her Venetian mask face. Sheā€™s made of plastic.

My guy was a man named Lukas Darwin. Heā€™s antisocial, a previously described nerd who thinks of himself as both a scientist and an artist. He romanced-and married-Tammy, who later started the church of MEIKO because Lukas was on the Grace path. He sold his robots as surgeons prior to them becoming gods, which was quite nice. He wrote an equation to end war, and at the end gave himself a robot mind. ETC.

Isaac Goldberg - Patriotic Jewish video game nerd. He built Guardian, a masked, multi-tool hands spider bot, to protect the USA, land of peace, justice and tolerance. Guardian had a musical voice, was educated through videogames, and liked to play at the dump. With a high Autonomy, Military and Grace, Guardian robots proved too free-thinking for the military of the democratic US, to his bemusement, but met with success as brusque surgical robots, despite bombings from Tammy. Isaac naturally built giant spider-legged mecha to defend the US against China, but his life diverged when he heard that Asian-Americans were getting sent to camps. In one universe, he convinced himself that it ā€˜couldnā€™t happen hereā€™ and did nothing. His wife Juliet was killed in the robot rebellion, Guardian was shut down with all the other robots; Isaac ended up alone with his Presidential award and a whiskey, refusing brain surgery because he had nothing to live for. In another universe, Isaac was locked up himself for assaulting the President, and rescued by a (slightly higher empathy) Guardian. While Juliet still shut the rebelling robots down, Isaac, maintaining his faith in American humanity, agreed that it had to be done. He had a charming daughter called Esther, a touching farewell to Guardian in his robot cloud dream, and lived through brain surgery, a wiser and happier man.

Any fans of Gunslinger Girl around here?

Victor Hilshire- A organised (Grace++) and buttoned-up workaholic with German grandparents; wore a collar and tie seven days a week, since age eighteen. His first robot was Rico, a squeaky three-foot moppet with fairy wings (sub-par autonomy and military, very high empathy and grace). Hilshire naturally gave her a proper K12 education, took her to play in the park, and bought her a mansion to live in like a lonely princess, while he practically lived at work. With the fortune he made from self-flying cars, Victor went on to develop the ā€˜Henriettaā€™ worker bots, the ā€˜Angelaā€™ medical robots, the ā€˜Claesā€™ bots for designing better robots and the fearless humanoid robots ā€˜Pinoā€™ and ā€˜Beatriceā€™ for use in the war with China. Each range of robot were beautiful, identical mental clones, but asserted diverging personalities by buying clothes with their wages, and painting their fairy wings. They were basically helpful, adorable fairies and Victor cried when they blew themselves up in the Gobi desert (all my characters cried; I nearly cried). He did finally attain happiness by adopting the repurposed soldier robot who would later promote herself to his wife; the outspoken, tsundere and devoted Triela ('Itā€™s not as if I cooked this huge meal because I missed you, or that cooking is some kind of release for me! Hmph! Just sit back and let me give you physical pleasure, you silly creatorā€¦)

my robot is Sonny (yeah, I Robot) and heā€™s my Son.

  • let him play with other kids
  • taught him K-12 curriculum and got asked philosophical questions
  • kicked govā€™s butt and freed Elly (in another playthrough, failed and got destroyed; i really like how mc taught him not to be vengeful, hypocritical but dammit i wouldnā€™t let my son be like that)
  • talk to him about death (even though my mc survived but that talk was damn heavy)
  • big brother to my child

went to empathy path in my first playthrough since my robot donā€™t have enough grace. built a companion robot named Eve but i donā€™t realize that i made her as a companion bot  basically treating her like Sonny. She was pretty heartbroken but moved on. when mc talks about death and what will happen to her after, she choose to build a restaurant because she wants it and i was so proud. yes girl be independent.

second playthrough i tried the grace path. basically letting robots conquer the world peacefully. i like how
prof ziegler called my mc and ask what do she thinks of him and she just shrugged and say ā€œmeh.ā€ and then he died. wow.

Christmas jumper guy doesnā€™t look too happyā€¦

well gunslinger girl does have questionable theme

I made a murderbot named Pickle, who served the United States well in warā€¦ And then got out of hand (whoops).
