This is rubbing me the wrong way. I tried to do the Nin mission and perform skill checks: lie to Heinrik (MAN+Subterfuge) and approach the witch Giselle (INT+Academics). I did this with three dots on the attributes and one dot in the skills, and both of them failed. I know for a fact something is wrong now because, a month ago, I succeeded with both on a past build with the same number of dots, if not less. And there’s only a set number of training points I can allocate without overspecializing and failing at everything else. I hope this is fixed by release because I’ve genuinely been chomping at the bit since the demo first released
Just looked at the code and both of the ones you’re going for have rage penalties and their own specific penalties, that you can get depending on what you did, that you have to account for, so nothing is wrong, you’re just going a bit to much as a jack of all trades and not accounting for other things in the game. And like it was said before, different auspices have different amounts of rage and in this demo they are already nurffed, so I don’t think it will get easier than this, also not every skill check can be clearer with 4, there are some that need 5, not the ones you gave as examples though, both seem to be a 3, so maybe you’re an ahourn or choosing to many aggresive/confrontational choices.
If you want a more in depth look at what rage can affect, there is a section in the stats page.
-
Butterfly gift require human must understand
-
Hearth gift can only be acquired by Hart Wardens and required find courage through laughter
-
Kali gift can be acquired by Black Furies and required our weapon is rage, 4 glorious chiminage
-
Mask of gorgon is not a gift but a spirit named stheno can be acquired if you have katherine gift, joining Black Furies, and make sure you don’t have any spirit under your control otherwise you can’t bind stheno.
-
Wardstone gift is only for theurges and requires 3 nights honorable chiminage.
I was playing a Ragabash. I really can’t see how can I circumvent that Rage penalty you saw in the code
Choices where you back down from confrontation can subtract rage and when you change to anything, but the lupus formbI think, it burn rage, there are also gifts that can help you manage your rage. You could also look at the code and just search for choices that take rage away so you can see some examples of how they are written and be better able to organically recognize them if that’s being a problem. If there’re other choices that you could make where you’re having problems, that would work too, rage penalties aren’t for every type of skill check, they are more for situations were you need to deal with people without losing control or you need to be patient, but the information on the stat screen is better for you to look to be sure.
Ps.: ragabash have the minimum amount of base rage in this demo, 2, I think it was originally 1, but when they changed things it became that.
Does ahroun have to be combined with our answer is rage? You seem to lose a lot of things if you don’t go that way when picking ahroun.
It’s a choice really. You can embrace the rage cause Ahroun comes with a lot of it but you don’t have to.
Rage resource is different from our answer is spirit/our weapon is rage. There are gifts that are locked from ahroun. And the gifts that for ahroun also have a requirement of our weapon is rage.
I’m going for ahroun but not deaf to the spirits or blind with rage, that cares for humans. I’m planning to side with Glass walkers and I’m basically trying to be like a weapon for those nerds. I went ahroun because the needs for tech and such are already given by the clan, and my role would be the bruiser. But this doesn’t seem like an effective playthrough.
All gifts have this type of requirements, unless you have the perfect personality for your tribe and their gifts you will have to change something, as a theurge it was the same. The text even says something about how the nature of the garou is volatile or something and we can change to fit the requirements, so if there’s something you want just change so you’re able to get it, at least that’s what I understood.
Oh you meant like mechanichally loose things. I mean yeah its a big thing for most Ahroun to fit that iirc, but its not required. Just go the way you want your character
I don’t think it’s feasible for the game. I went with ahroun, our answer is spirit, humans must understand, find answers, the litany has failed, find purpose through dignity, glass walker.
Based on the docs posted https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1QxlWz77CZA05GhMOBpEOWveUjLnTUq5miHhvmTq2x0U/mobilebasic the game severely limits the gifts I could have with this character.
Oh yeah no you gonna loose some gifts but I mean if that’s your lad that’s your lad. you can still play it
I thought only male metis can join Black Furies? Regular male garou can join it too?
Metis isn’t a thing anymore in the latest edition.
This one uses v5 and there’s no more kinfolk and metis, so garou can pretty much join any tribes. but still @AletheiaKnights even if the male garou can join the Black Furies aren’t they a Misandrist group or that change as well in the latest edition.
Garou can still change tribes in previous edition. I’m not liking the lore change with the new edition.
I didn’t mean to horde money. It just collects with no solution of getting rid of it other than fixing a house that isn’t mine or buying stuff for the rental. Both I’m against doing. I’m not going to fix up a rental, as I dont own it. I’m not buying stuff to put in a house because I chose the path of being more survivalist than a city dog. (Even though we are city dogs, my build said not really.) Children of Gaia and the Falcon like me the most from in world description.
If there will be an option to give money, then definitely giving it all. Technically rather not live in the rental, and just live out where the outside dogs are. (The manor or the grounds.) Guess that means I should be Children of Gaia. Interesting. Until I talk to all the spirits and see “in game” who accepts me, then I will make decisions of spirits and totems to follow.
This demo is really letting my Rage out! I made an ahroun, STR 4, Intimidation 2.
Meeting the Goultiers, still can’t intimidate them into fixing the heat. Rage was 2 at the moment - nevermind rage penalty shouldn’t apply to Intimidation tests. Then, again, same problem when trying to collect first payment.
Reminder: both scenes are before you get the chance to spend experience (money?). Just the meager 6 initial points.
Really made my blood boil. I, the player, almost frenzied!!
@Canix thank you! updated the guide. Also, no kinfolk OR metis? What of the offspring that don’t become shifters? Are they just regular dudes? weren’t kinfolk (and glass walkers and bone gnawers) like nearly the backbone of how the garou even survive in the modern age despite being so disrespected?
@Rexx I 100% agree with you here lol, That scene specifically sends me through the roof every single time i play it. Mind you, you pass the check with low rage. How being genuinely on the brink of literally ripping off someone’s head works AGAINST you in intimidating them is beyond me personally. Im of the firm opinion Rage should buff combat, intimidation, aim and maybe some leadership checks (“leading through strength” and “might makes right” and all that) but i can begrudgingly guess i get why its not that case
if youre so loaded in cash why not upgrade your skills? try and get your attributes to a calm level 3 baseline and your skills at least to level 2. Why let it just sit there?
