Answering in my own thread so as not to derail the tropes thread…
In terms of incorporating that story itself, not so much, since it’s a rather particular plot in a rather different setting. However, theft is something that could make sense for an MC to do and I will consider it in my notes. As for dashing sons, while the male romances whom I’ve currently been thinking about are lower class or in one case foreign, I have been outlining prominent members of the dominant families as well as their immediate relatives, so I’m leaving myself open to the possibility of including a romantic plotline with someone else if they catch someone’s eye
