Don’t forget Chechnya, which does run actual concentration camps for gay people that are every bit as bad as the gulags while Putin’s Russia prefers to look the other way and pretend to be blind to that fact.
Very early on Lenin did scrap all crimes against morality from the criminal code, effectively if not legalizing then at least decriminalising homosexuality until Stalin added them all back in anyway. So the ban on homosexuality is a legacy of Stalinism that unfortunately wasn’t abandoned during the initial de-Stalinization in the 60’s.
Its current Patriarch and senior leadership do seem to be though and that may make all the difference.
Yes, incremental progress though lately it seems to be mostly regression with the anti-gay laws and the fact that the police do absolutely nothing when private citizens take it upon themselves to do a spot of gay-bashing or extortion.
This song may sum up the recent developments for gay people in Russia.
I only talked about Luhansk and Donetsk because I was one of the Russian volunteers (more like got told I would be deployed there to help them out but I guess I didn’t say no so I was a volunteer) sent to help them establish a nation. More then once me and my unit had to stop the citizens from attacking their neighbors for “suspected homosexuality” and what not. It was brutal what they did. At least we stopped some of it. It also doesn’t help that Chechnya is a majority Muslim and has numerous terrorist cells running around with pretty much impunity.
It’s unfortunate that they seem to be politicizing the Holy Scripture for their own gain. This is not how our Patriarch should be acting.
This is true for the most part. Police do tend to stop it before it gets to out of hand however. The problem is bystanders rarely call the police and victims rarely go to the police. It’s one of those cases where the law (not law enforcement) tends to be less homophobic than the people. It’s truly unfortunate.
Yeah it can get a bit overwhelming at times. I try to ignore any events that don’t have to do with my country but even then it’s a bit difficult. But I agree the EU series is very well done.
I tried Europa Universalis and it actually seems a lot more complicated/harder than Hearts of Iron (and Hearts of Iron is already very complicated) o.o
In EU there seems to be so many things to manage while in HOI you just have to deal with wars and not much else
But aren’t EU’s military build are much simpler …with less units to consider but Heart of Iron need to build different variety of Planes, ships and tanks ?
but let get back to topic
do you think we could marry Lou in the future ? Will the people accept a foreign first lady(who is an actress) IF we manage to become prime minister ?
Probably. Especially if America joins the war against the Germans and/or sends Moravia military aid. Seeing as how the Moravian communists don’t like the Soviets very much I doubt they would follow the Soviet belief that Americans are evil imperialists.
I didn’t even bother that much with the navy/air force and still took most of Europe o.o
Anyway about this game, I wonder if you could actually overthrow Riga/Wulf and become the leader yourself? Did the author say something about this?
That will be hard…very hard , unless somehow either Vitori or Herta willing to back you up ? I would think Vitori will be leader of Popular Front rather than Rosa
Yeah but what if as a part of all the tensions the leader would get assassinated by some rivals (what if you could actually help them with that plan )
Also they could die in the war later on when World War 2 starts (I think he said it will be show their funeral?)
You can become quite popular as an MP and you might be the new leader.
I do not believe you will be able to take over in the Fascist path. You would never really gain the power to oust Riga with his grip on power, and in the moderate you are squeezed between Riga and the King competing for power. Same issue for radical Solidarity.
I feel like Vitori will be PM until the war, then maybe a little bit after with Rosa succeeding her. I could see you succeeding Rosa (as even in democratic systems where one party wins all the elections party leaders do end up standing down). Not sure how far you will rise in power though. I do think ending up as number two in the authoritarian routes is certainly possible.
EDIT: I think the funeral is the start of the second game, which means Rosa/Riga lives until the 80s. Another idea for the Popular Front is Rosa never actually becomes PM but becomes a national hero due to her actions in the war, and essentially becomes a power behind the throne.
I think it has been stated previously that it is specifically for Riga/Rosa. We really do not know what ways the MC can end up besides the whole Civilian v. Military path! (as far as I know)
Oh, my mistake then. Sorry about that. When I first went on this thread there was about 100 posts. When I went on again recently there were about 1000 . It gets a bit hard to keep up sometimes.
Number 2 is not bad (assuming that’s deputy PM to Vitori, since all party leaders remain as leader of their own party, the deputy PM should from 2nd most successful party within the coalition, who is not party leader) … as long as Lou agree to stay with the marriage
