If you read the article you would know that anarcho-communist societies did exist with the free territories of ukraine as an example. It is not disorganized, its decentralized. It did get into power but was desposed by the USSR both in spain and in ukraine because they were worried it would become a haven of anti-USSR leftism.
How either of us feel about it is irrelevant because its just a fact. How it affect the game is up to the author and I believe they know what they are doing so arguing about it wont lead anywhere.
I’l also remind you that the author said themselves that both side will have equal opportunities so we already know both side will have their success wether or not they manage to establish what they truly wanted. I doubt we’ll have our perfect socialist republic and I have no problem with it I just said we definitely wont be like the USSR. If anything we’ll probably end up like yugoslavia.
Fascist Spain did last for quite a while without any wars though.By the way I don’t think it will even make sense for Moravia to want wars, their army simply isn’t strong enough to conquer neighboring countries.
Probably a bit better than Yugoslavia I imagine. Moravia doesn’t seem to have to deal with the same level of multiculturalism that caused massive unrest and eventually led to Yugoslavia’s collapse.
I’d assume that solidarity moravia is probably a lot more open to either granting that other region their independence or actively helping them so that is something. The true problems will be ideological differences and paranoia. Since both NATO and the warsaw pact have something to gain out of controling moravia I suspect a lot of the sequel will be rooting out soviet and western agents while trying to keep the population happy (or repressed if thats what you’re into)
Nah, I think it was more something like “uhm, that seems pretty gay to me, best check to know if I have two reasons to get that communist pig into a short meeting with an execution squad”. She is a great RO in the NO path, in the Solidarity path I think assuming she would like nothing better than to shoot you in the head is probably a solid assumption.
Join the club! And lets have a duel or or whatever, because the said person’ heart is totally mine, dear sir.
Well Alex has done an amazing job history-wise.
The answer is yes, but civil war seems to be established in stone in 90% of the possible outcomes. In fact, as a coalition is easier to win the election, I think Alex said it back then (someone correct me if I am wrong), you just need to make things work.
Yep, nazism is a whole other beast and a clearly wrong ideology. Even if I utterly dislike fascism (like some people utterly dislike communism, that’s normal and acceptable and even correct, dictatorships are always shitty regimes) I reserve a special kind of negative opinion and feelings regarding anyone who defends a regime where minorities, whether they are racial or sexual, and people with disabilities are actively exterminated in name of the “purity” of the nation.
Well, there are lots of communisms that reject the Soviet model. Some of them are almost as bad, others are quite interesting.
Not that “normal” fascism doesn’t persecute minorities either, but their persecutions are usually more in line with extreme conservatism on steroids and their favourite targets did overlap to some extent with Nazism in targeting gay and disabled people. However where they mostly differ is the genocide preferring to treat disfavoured groups, except for gay and disabled people, as second or third class citizens and not doing a “final solution”.
As to the other poster who commented on Franco as successful fascism, his regime mainly lasted so long because he moderated later on to the extent where it became less fascism and more extremely conservative authoritarianism instead. I mean in the last decade he even permitted some token “opposition” something that is antithetical to fascist ideology.
Unlike ideological fascism authoritarianism is (unfortunately) quite sustainable as long as the ruler in question is smart and somewhat lucky with it as the vast amounts of regimes throughout history have been some form of authoritarianism.
Hmmm… it will be fun to play a Cat and Mouse game with Herta, like errrr… Tom and Jerry ?
But we don’t need to follow historical event in an Alternate Universe right ? Well…history didn’t had us to role play as our MC, who could alter the course of history
I think there was an old movie called V for Vendetta , although i didn’t exactly watch it fully …is about Nazi German won the WW2 and Britain was sort of govern by the N**i (if i am not mistaken)
I will chase the romance route with Lou , who is charming and elegant
V for Vendetta is a bit different. The fascist takeover (although certainly also a very racialized regime, it is implied it exterminated people of color and religious minorities) is from inside with a conspiracy of drug manufacturers, media, and political figures. The original comic was commentary on the Thatcher government, the movie was commentary on the second Bush Administration I believe. This is rather off topic, though, so I digress…
I think Alex will generally follow history. It is simpler, and the nation really is not big enough to truly affect the outside world. A “successful” Fascist regime that exists in the heart of Europe would probably end up more like North Korea than anything. By that i mean very isolationist and closed off. It would be virtually ideologically alone surrounded by various dominant ideology, and it would be a huge task by the government to keep the population from coming under the sway of foreign ideas.
I think it is still possible to remain “Neutral” and independent from outside influence/invasion ? If i am not mistaken, Thailand did a very good job in maintaining a “Neutral” stance from WW2 conflict … where both sides of the war didn’t invade the country…
and there is also a Monarch in Moravia right ? Perhaps the Queen and the royal household will have an important role to change the course of history as well ??
Hahaha…not “Taiwan” , but “Thailand” a South East Asia country who control by a Royal Family , Thailand 's neighboring countries had been invaded and control by Japan … but Thailand manage to strike a bargain to remain Neutral through the course of the war
True, but Thailand was also not located in the middle of Europe and bordering an expansionist Germany (please correct me if I am misunderstanding you and you are talking about the post war world, which I do think it would be easier for Moravia to remain neutral). Moravia is in a position where it is almost guaranteed to get invaded.
The country is also a constitutional monarchy so the Queen will stay out of most political affairs. The moderate fascist route does put the King in charge, but at that point a faction has already taken power.
I admit that the Pacific theater, particularly the Indochina region, isn’t a area I’m particularly knowledgeable of, so correct me if I’m missing some context or nuance here. That said, judging from a quick perusal of google, Thailand in WW2 wasn’t exactly neutral and were forced to give the Japanese both military access and at least official support for their war effort (though they did have a rather large resistance effort).
While something like this might be possible if the fascists win and the MC manages to moderate Riga’s anti-German sentiments, giving them official (if reluctant) support runs the risk of inviting reprisals from the Soviets and would likely further isolate Moravia on the international stage after the war ends.
Not very good about how politic work … but in the medieval war game i play , there is something like "Casus belli " , where any nation who want to invoke a war to another kingdom/nation there must be a “Casus Belli” for doing that, else it will invite the wrath from their own citizen
Even if the Solidarity / Popular Front win the election , i think we can still sign some sort of Non-Aggressive Pact with Germany right ? Just don’t give them a reason to invade Moravia …
Technically yes, but the Nazis basically just started invading places with very little justification after the war started with Poland (which the CB they created for that was entirely made by the Nazis).
A casus belli (literally means “a case of war”) is pretty much any justification for going to war with another nation, whether real or fabricated. This can include things like conquest, territorial claims, protecting ethnic minorities, or attacks on your nation or allies by the nation you are invading. Was the game you were playing by any chance Crusader Kings or Europa Universalis? Also, I don’t think the Germans care much about non-aggression pacts. The broke one with the Soviet Union (Molotov-Ribbentrop Act) and that was much more dangerous than breaking one with Moravia.
Edit: If it was an attack on an ally that you used as justification it would be a casus foederis (“a case for the alliance”) not casus belli.
It reminds me of Hearts of Iron 4 lol.
As a fascist you can just fabricate claims and invade every country for no reason, and if you don’t go to war for a while you actually lose national unity cause the people see you as a weak leader
Actually living in one, I can say that is not necessarily true. Now the Scandinavian countries do have laws that really restrict the influence of their monarchs, over here they are rather more vague and our former Queen was widely considered to be the most accomplished politician in the country and still far from powerless. What she couldn’t do was get openly involved in partisan politics, that’s true. It was also pretty widely known among those involved in politics that she was either a conservative liberal or a liberal conservative at heart and subtly favoured those parties (and for a time the “new left” was included in that list).
Our new King is much less of a politician and has actually delegated some of his powers back to Parliament, so he mostly is a ceremonial monarch. His mother very much wasn’t.
I have the feeling King Georg actually likes using whatever reserved powers the Moravian monarchy still has and may want to see them expanded and if the “moderate” New Order mc really is supporting him to provide restraint and a counterweight to Riga’s ambitions those powers may well be expanded, as happened in Thailand under their late King, for example.
While punching people for having a different viewpoint than you is…excessive, yes you can punch fascists while being a communist. You can also punch communists while being a fascist.
They aren’t teenagers (for the most part) though. But I’m assuming that this is a joke on the current political climate in the United States right? (They tend to be equipped with more than just bike locks and tiki torches in the story though )
Sadly the current political climate in Putin’s Russia also leads to people taking gay-basing literally…again. And allows for much, much worse in the “autonomous” Republics technically under Russian control.
While I won’t deny that there is still lots of homophobia in Russia at least you won’t get thrown into a gulag for being gay anymore like you diid in the Soviet times. It wasn’t until Gorbachev in the 80’s that the police and military stopped cracking down hard on homosexuality. The situation is not ideal but I would argue that it is getting better. I saw many gay couples in more European/Western cities like St. Petersburg when I still lived in Russia. The Orthodox Church also has pretty substantial influence in Russia which contributes to the peoples rather overzealous hatred towards gays. Not that the Orthodox church is extremely homophobic in their teachings (at least from my experience being a follower for pretty much my whole life) but they still consider it a sin so they tend to frown upon it. But I do know what you mean about how the “autonomous” Republics treat them. I saw that crap first hand during my time in Donetsk and Luhansk.
