Well, seeing N being forced even on no-romance path sure is something.

This is honestly disturbing. The game is practially begging you. Crying. Please. Romance Anyone. Someone. I gave you three options. Please. Take one.

It’s only N, which is pretty funny. No one else pulls shit like this.

I don’t remember anyone else having that. It’s just N and his magical power to force relationships on you.

Pfff, sexual harassment isn’t magic, anyone can do it. Even YOU, dear reader*.

*pls don’t sexually harass

Weird N shit aside, Illiyana was the only MC that had a relatively fun run through Book 3. Bravos respect her as a person, aren’t weird around her, actually treat her as part of a team, her character isn’t constantly broken by romantic shit out of nowhere, she’s allowed to not angst too excessively. Also, cutting away romance does absolute wonders for pacing and makes things better. No-romance route has both the best MC and the best writing, lol. No Haley bakery scene, either! At all! It’s skipped entirely, including the aftermath!

and now, my woes about Douglas not being a romance

It’s absolutely hilarious that he has amazing chemistry with MC, even better than A. He also doesn’t treat her like shit, and the crush grows into something genuinely interesting and sweet. I worry more about Douglas than about most of the Bravos.

Mm, well, this is an avenue that I’ll never understand. This is essentially a job, business venture, etc. I don’t understand feelings getting involved based on a helpful and reasonable suggestion, but I understand that people tend to care about things like that. Writing your story is one thing; allowing others to help elevate your story doesn’t make it their story, nor does it take away the work and creativity that a person puts into their writing. There are vocalists who have a story to tell, and they convey that to a songwriter who helps them put it on paper while also allowing them to modify what they don’t like.

This would work as well.

Exactly. I would say she would also benefit from filtered open-beta testing and reading. As for potential leaks, people’s work is constantly leaked. I believe that as long as you benefit in the end and no one plagiarizes your work, that’s all that matters, at least in my opinion.

Sure. I also like witnessing people’s reactions, analyzing, brainstorming, etc. So, I would want to get the work to my readers in a timely manner so I can enjoy the praise and criticism and understand where I can do better. I’d want all of that and my 120k–150k a year, with everyone benefiting within a reasonable amount of time.

LMAO, it’s all an illusion, but I can see how it would be difficult to stop writing what Lauren Langford would’ve done in the novels, especially if she’s reading notes based on what that character would’ve done rather than going by personality attributes. She would have been better off categorizing the main character as an established personality and consolidating the seven books into three longer ones. She can still deliver the same narrative in a much more condensed format.

I’m definitely not buying anything else after this series from her, mainly because I don’t want to invest anymore time, and depending on how this next installment goes, I may move on sooner.

Yeah, I agree, especially if you want the MC to be traumatized and continue to relive their failure. The MC should have CPTSD at this point. I believe there is a scenario in which, if Sanja dies, you can see her corpse standing by Falk and the maa-alused, but I could be misremembering. If I recall properly, that would have been a fantastic time to have the MC hyperventilate or hallucinate the entire confrontation in the tunnels until they were snapped out of it by their LI.

I checked the code, and I believe you can do it with F as well if you take them to dinner, probably because you can get into actual relationships with both F and N before B3. M and A are excluded. I’m wondering if it’s possible to start with the non-romance route and then switch to the A and M romance later. For example, we’re more than likely able to begin a romantic relationship with A during B4, so if we wanted to start a relationship with them without all the drama, we could do the no-romance way and pick to “begin the relationship” when the option becomes available during B4. Well, I’ll be making a non-romantic gameplay soon.

I doubt it. We don’t get many interactions with them, if we don’t count several exceptions. F and N get more content in general. Theoretically we could potentially start a romance in no-romance run, were we to pick A as best friend, but I doubt we’ll get the chance. No-romance will have the villain to worry about.

Well, I’m much more pleased with Illiyana in comparison to Xiulan and Lara. I love all three of my kids equally, but only one of them keeps most of their character in B3, and that has to count for something.

She still should be in a giant robots and saving Douglas during a mission, but we can’t be choosers. Illya would be proud thar his protĂ©gĂ© stabbed a man with a fork.

This is real? (Just to be clear I believe you. I just cannot comprehend why).

I’ve wondered this as well. I get why nothing MC does would change A’s, but whether or not you sleep with M really should change the trajectory of the romance, and N and F should both be more different depending on whether you agreed to be a relationship with them or not. The only thing that changes on N’s route is whether or not they’ll kiss or sleep with MC (which considering how horny they’ve gotten might be for best.)

I had really high hopes after the book three demo that this was going to seen in the confrontation with Sin. MC’s blood actually being useful instead of making these worse, and MC being able to do something none of the other characters can. But I guess resolving the case at the end of book 2 and stopping the auction at the end of three are supposed to be big enough “victories” to build up MC.

Yeah this is every MC who draws the map. I got that scene on my A route and originally thought that’s what it was tied to, but I got it playing F’s route too.

If you can spontaneously start a relationship with N on the non-romance path then you should be able to have a one night stand with M. Also didn’t you have to confirm twice in B1 that you wanted nonromance route? Although I probably wouldn’t mind if there was a moment like that for all of them.

If this is true that might be how I end up doing it then.

Ya. First you pick “yeah, i want friendship only”. Then OOC text appears and goes “hey’ we’re a romance game, you’ll get no content or less content if you refuse to engage in romance!” and you have to pick an option again to seal it in.

I don’t think it’ll be an option with either of them. A must have their precious angst, even if I believe in their romantic potential much more during a no-romance route.

I would actually really like that. I think it could be interesting. But are we like soulmates in that route too or is it just starting later .

But I would like to build a relationship on real emotions and trust instead of cascading whatever it is that is happening otherwise

Pretty sure this is a bug and should be reported to COG. Checked the code, it looks like at one point the wrong label is in a goto and the friendship route ending is supposed to be entirely different.

Neither can I, the demo has some ‘unique’ prose for sure.

Maybe we’re secretly a robot that’s slowly breaking down? Would explain the constant shivering, tingles and the broken character after we come in contact with water.

I wish we had more inner monologue from our detective. The only things MC thinks about is how ROs make them feel. I need more thinking about other people/stuff/anything! You know something like: “Verda’s hands were shaking and his clothes were wrinkled, which was miles away from his usually professional look. I had no doubt that his nervous behaviour was caused by the truth about supernaturals. I felt how guilt gripped my stomach. I couldn’t look him in the eyes. This was never what i wanted and i wish i could explain the whole situation to him better or apologize for being an idiot, for not considering his reaction when i let him continue in his investigation.” It would be nice to know what our detective thinks and feel. It would make the MC more realistic/likeable.

And just a question, if you could choose more than one RO for your detective, would you do that? If yes, who would you choose? I would go for Felix with Adam or Felix with Mason. It would be fun to see their personalities clash with romantic relationship (or i just want more drama ).
