And Adam managed to trigger Lara’s PTSD with his off-hand whining. Apologising doesn’t do shit, you uneducated Saxon! She’s been kidnapped by him, mutilated, he escaped and is probably still at large.
Another amazing reveal - Rebecca has tried to buy Lara’s affection in her childhood through countless gifts. Geez, this looks more and more like an abusive parent-child relationship.
Wow. Adam actually admits his feelings first in LT route and spits it out for MC. Dude, can’t you grow a pair in your own route too? Why can’t I avoid the angsty “loves me, loves me not” there?
A being more open about their feelings in the LT path rather than their own route was the icing on the cake. They admit it (or make you think they’re admitting it, since after the M ask I can’t even trust the text anymore) multiple times, especially in the convos with F, and then you have their route and it’s just charged silence and half worded lines. It’s really funny she said, as she ate another spoonful of dirt
A admitting their feelings earlier on the LT route kind of makes sense, IMO… if MC is with N at the time, A has an excuse for not acting on those feelings, so they can be a little less guarded about it since don’t have to be as vulnerable. On A’s own route, the only thing holding A back, is A…
As for M, I’ve been reading all the responses to the recent ask. Is this the one where Sera says M is on the “cusp” of realizing their feelings?
Kind of confused why that means M is going to backslide, where to me I would interpret that as M being on the cusp of taking the next step.
Only thing that could interrupt that progress now is some outside force that may force the MC apart from their RO…but I’m thinking that’s gonna happen with all the RO’s next book, with all the hints about being able to spend less time together.
Anyway, M to me reads a lot like someone with cpstd, they may understand their feelings by now- or are starting to- but can’t express them properly, because their heart (and memories) have been disconnected from their head for so long. They don’t have the words or quite know how to communicate or tell the MC, and they are still hanging onto some self delusion because they are so used to their pattern, IMO. That’s the “cusp” they are on the verge of understanding.
Funniest thing is that my MC is not with N. They haven’t started an actual relationship and she finds herself caring more about A than about N, who starts acting weirder and weirder in her eyes. These two people that are denser than tungsten actually come off far less creepy than N.
I mean, look at this! They actually talk! And have fun! And don’t harass each other! N just gives tense and terse stares, cups MC’s cheeks like she’s a kid, screams like Dark Souls protagonist during death animations and doesn’t really do anything proactive.
I think the romance scenes stay the same, for both A and N, the differences are N frowning and second guessing things while A is partly more open (to others, of course) while also second guessing things.
It’s basically a case of “I like you, but the other party is better for you” you know, the standard love triangle stitch.
And like N is extra miserable if you’re with them but occasionally throw glances A’s way, kudos to people who enjoy this sort of drama but to me it’s dreadful at best. I know it’s fiction, but I hate emotional manipulation.
The car scene was probably of my favourite as well as when you fail after you separate the group and have a sweet moment with A before talking the the person kidnapped. It’s a shame that there’s all that build up and sweet gestures just for that stupid ending. I indulge in the kiss to see how it would play out but canonically I won’t go the kiss and reject route.
Currently my Juanita is enjoying the affections of sir Jose and ignores anything sir Pedro throws at her. Brazilian drama is mainly drama because all three obtuse angles of our non-Euclidean triangle are denser than tungsten and can’t figure out that sinjora Juanita favours lord Jose over lord Pedro.
Man, playing LT as an unholy mix of Brazilian drama and typical harem anime is the most fun I’ve had.
Sdfjsk I’m happy Juanita is living her best life under sir Jose’s attentions, I can only hope sir Pedro won’t die of loneliness like a rabbit.
That’s the thing, though. You’re not supposed to take seriously those dramas, they know what they’re doing, but you’re very much supposed to be invested in this one and I can’t. It’s too yucky and over the top, but Juanita has my support. Go get that bread, señorita
If Sera wanted to go the route of M still being too stupid to know anything, then she should have done two things:
Remove the scene with A as a bff outside of the MC’s bedroom and copy/paste the scene with F, where M is too annoyed at F for daring to say he may care about the MC to actually notice he does. In F’s route, M’s response matches their response every other time they’ve been accused of caring: rolling their eyes and stomping away.
Remove the scene at the end with M taking a shot.
What she said negates both of those things and requires a complete retcon of what happened. With A, there is absolute zero other explanation to M basically pouring their feelings out on the table–so the only way to reset M is to say those words meant nothing and it was, apparently, just Sera fucking with us.
For the shot scene, unless M is a complete and utter fucking moron (apparently, that’s the case), there’s no way to misconstrue Verda’s or Tina’s spy’s I never question. So that leaves one of three possibilities: Sera fucking with M-mancers’ heads (seems most likely), M shooting the booze for a reason other than the I never question, or M being too fucking stupid to understand the question.
I hate to be this person but… Juanita for sure isn’t a common name here in Brazil, also we don’t have drama like this. If I have to guess you’re thinking about mexican drama novels.
We don’t speak spanish also, we speak brazilian portuguese, thank you very much.
It’s hard to keep romantic tension up for that long in a series…unfortunately it seems like many people get bored or lose interest when fictional couples finally get together. Or worse, when a couple gets married/committed… but personally, that’s why I love when stories have an ex or past bff as a main love interest, that way a lot of the drama and angst can revolve around the characters past and personal problems, rather than will they/won’t they angst for ages and ages.
That said, M seems to be making progress each book despite whatever the author says, as long as they keep going with the flow of the character, maybe it won’t be as bad as feared when it actually gets written.
Anything to drag this shit out indefinitely, right?
You know, one thing that never gets addressed is M’s anger at people saying anything to them about the MC and just how much of an asshole they act like when someone does. It’s what prompted the bakery scene–Haley very rudely makes a comment about the MC and M, and M snaps and calls the MC a fucktoy. F makes a comment about the MC being a new addiction, and M gets pissed.
In the bff scene outside the MC’s door, you have three possibilities. F pisses M off again, and you get the worst response of the three scenes. N gets the middle one, because they are so judgy and M is defensive. With A, you get the best–not only does M not get pissed off, they open up.
Sera seems to beat us over the head with the fact that M can’t abide being “seen” as being with the MC. Mr/Ms “Do what feels good” can’t just do what feels good because someone may think something (since when does M care what anyone thinks??). I just get the feeling this is more dramatic bullshit to pile on top of the already Mt Everest-sized pile of “ways to kick M-mancers” in the story and, all the way through the end, we’ll get M being a dick any time someone points out they’re close to the MC.
