i’m gonna jump on the bandwagon so here’s an aesthetic post about my detective too! i’m not totally satisfied with this but here’s my main detective, detective florence han:
“I’m pleased to be able to put my mind to good use.”
blurbs
only wears shades of black, white, and grey
red lipstick tho
a chain smoker esp when she’s particularly stressed out. is trying to kick the habit. she sticks with candy and hot drinks for now but would still occasionally pull out a stick or two.
intimidating, sarcastic piece of shit. probably thinks she’s in one of those noir detective movies.
that said, she has one brown trenchcoat that she bought when she got promoted to detective what a nerd
if we’re talking film noir, she’s probably a mix of femme fatale and the unlucky detective himself.
has a distant relationship w her mother. her mother’s constant absence in her life is what shaped her to be independent and somewhat introverted.
to add onto that, it was also what made her pretty aloof. bobby was the last person she was in a serious relationship with. everyone after her can barely be called relationships tbh.
has a laidback attitude overall but becomes a hardass when it comes to doing her job.
has a secret love for classic romance novels and just “classic” novels in general tbh. was probably that one kid in class who actually enjoyed the assigned readings and kept asking questions about it + encouraging discussions/lectures while her classmates are bored out of their mind already.
will probably have an internal fangirl moment when she finds out her love interest is a vampire bc she really enjoyed anne rice’s vampire chronicles lmao
top skills are investigation & combat followed closely by tech. joined the force because of the intellectual stimulation + bc it’s the only job she can think of that suits her skills.
slightly above average height. long legs tho.
actually likes note-taking??? she keeps a personal journal (you’d think her entries are police reports bc they’re so damn dry.), sth for investigation notes, etc.
wasn’t really rebellious as a kid. i can even imagine her to be a bit straight-laced. tho she probably had tendencies to be like daria sometimes.
Aah, guys! Your moodboards and fanfics have me so excited Some of your detectives are definitely gonna have an interesting time of it when you actually get to play the game…hehehe!
Thank you for keeping the excitement alive, everyone!
Don’t be fooled by that picture of her. She’s practicing because her aim is pretty bad. She’s better at diplomacy and tends to solve almost every situation with it (yet she used the pepper spray with Adam after a fair warning lol). Yeah, but Gabrielle is not at all pro-violence. Some people say she’s not cut out for the detective work, yet her resolve is unwavering: she wants to do something that matters. She needs to feel useful. And nothing matters more than saving lives and keeping people safe. She still needs to learn how to deal with corpses and how to say no.
Unsurprisingly, her RO is Nate. She’s definitely not the ‘good girl looking for the bad boy’. Nate is totally her type: patient, sweet and makes her feel secure. Two cutiepies Felix makes her blush constantly, but they’re just good friends. She has a soft spot for Adam and admires his tenacity and severity, although she tries to make him calm down and work as a team. Mason… makes her nervous. Gabrielle is pretty sure that he hates her, so she tries to stay away from him. Bad vibes there.
Detective Matheus is a big fan of history and myths, he likes to read a lot.
He likes challenges, mysteries and everything that challenges his mind.
Very proficient with guns, he always has with him his SIG Sauer P226 that he treats as his best, and most reliable, friend.
Usually a pretty chill guy, doesn’t seek conflict, but is also very proud, so there is bound to be some heated discussions with Ava.
He’s very interested in Nat but can’t help but feel some kind of attraction to Ava, he knows there is more behind that big wall of ice.
So nice that we are all finding a way to pass time! Keep those boards coming everyone!
I really don’t think it does. There are plenty of kids that has absent parents due to work and didn’t get into such a mess that would get them to jail.
Just admit you like to be the bad boys without the narrative excuse there, that’s all
This darling dear is Val Abycan (a name I had already decided on before opening up the demo and then had me a good chuckle when I saw it in the suggested names list). While you wouldn’t guess it from their stoic demeanor, they care quite a lot about Wayhaven and its people. They care quite a lot about most everyone they meet, really, though they’re, pretty fucking terrible at showing it. This tendency to get attached to people quickly got them in quite a spot of trouble in college, when they met Bobby.
That disastrous relationship left them, if not less likely to get attached, at least more wary about letting people close. One day they’ll be able to project their need to take care of people onto a dog and they can get those pesky feelings to quiet down (or so they tell themself).
They joined the police force for the structure, as they don’t do well with sudden changes in their life. Needless to say, the unexpected arrival of 4 strangers in their station (and, more importantly, in their office) shook them a little. While they have no trouble frostily glaring at Ava whenever she is being her lovely self, they’re still grateful for Nat and her stabilising presence. In fact, they find themself often gravitating towards Nat and the aura of peace she seems to carry with her everywhere. They’re trying to tell themself that this attraction they feel is merely platonic in nature, but they’re not quite fooling even themself
Decided to do a mood board for Elena, because it seemed fun and everyone else is doing it.
Personality
Elena does not hate people. She simply doesn’t like people. She would give up nearly everything to help a complete stranger, but she’d also do it under the condition she never had to deal with said stranger ever again. She has very few friends, Tina being one of the closest, and in general sees her privacy as a sacred thing (though she is willing to sacrifice even that if it means more people are saved). She is authoritative, and doesn’t take direct challenges to her authority well. She is open and honest, and absolutely hates evasive and deceitful behavior. She is serious and committed, and doesn’t have much patience for whimsy. And while she absolutely abhors violence, she is willing to commit it to help others.
All of this comes together in a woman who is closed off, high-strung, and in an almost constant state of stress. Especially when she has a group of strangers and a serial killer milling about.
Yeah! I mean I did screwed over by a girl I thought was my best friend for the sake of her own selfish news stories and betrayed my truth in the process but it didn’t turn me into a bitter person!
…ok I got slightly snarkier, but I’m still a nice guy.
The Snark Knight herself: She’s a one-time rebel, turned secret softie after finding a purpose in law enforcement, to the surprise of literally everyone. Nowadays, she’s limited to little rebellions, like sneaking coffee past the no food & drink sign, but nobody calls her on it since she still looks the part. And that’s all that matters.
Her RO is Ava, because she’s strong willed and sure as hell gonna butt heads with miss tightly-wound barging in on her investigation and acting like she runs the place.
In her youth she was a bit of a lady killer, but she’s been caught up in work for so long she’s kind of forgotten what it’s like to have a social life. Despite being mostly a loner, she’s quite easy to get along with… if you can get past the layers and layers of sarcasm of course.
@RynWill forget A,N,F and M,the Real RO™ is your detective… (I’m suddenly feeling kinda thirsty…)
PS: I actually love all the ROs but I admit that your MC kinda made me sigh in a lovesick manner
Raymond Chandler is a dork. He’s overly fond of sweets, lattes and long coats. He’s more than a bit of a cinephile, and along with binging crime miniseries from the UK, is a fan of the extremely American film noir genre. The influence of all of these things was what led to him entering the police force in the first place, owing to his entirely unrealistic internal image of what a detective is and does. He even took up boxing in an effort to excel at what seemed to be a good example of being a hardboiled dick: fisticuffs. When he was promoted, it further cemented this attitude, and caused him to go into a persona that is sarcastic, almost theatrically macho, and belligerent.
The real Raymond Chandler is highly insecure, self-doubting, and far more of a softie than he will let on. His current lack of progress in the case isn’t doing wonders for an already fairly tender psyche, and this has led to more reckless behavior on his part. Hopefully, this isn’t the start of a rather ugly downward spiral.
