Another partial history lesson:
N: So the Bubonic plague wiped out 30-50% of Europe’s population–
F: What’s a plague?
N: It’s a widespread disease–
F: What’s a disease?
N: Well, the rats carried–
F stopped listening after that because two agents nearby were sharing gossip.
I think you summed it up better than I could. I imagine it gave them a sense of control and it gives them something to do with their hands. Plus they can almost make a game of how long they can keep an old car running.
I still disagree with Sera that M’s love language is physical touch. I mean, The physical touch love language is so much more than sex. It’s small things like tickles; cuddles; a light kiss on the nose; a foot massage; hugs; a shoulder massage; gently stroking of the hair, eyelashes, face, nuzzling, etc.
And we all know Mason doesn’t respond well to tickles, a light kiss, gentle stroking of the hair from Sera’s previous answers
But, I mean, it can also sex too. Is it really fair to say that that can’t be as important? It might not be for everyone but it clearly is to M. And it can also be other more sensual touching… that I won’t list but still.
I think we all feel that, but as I said, it is difficult to maintain that momentum when it almost feels like we’ve discussed everything possible, so far.
But I also think that memes are an inevitable part of discussion, we can’t simply stop them from happening. The problem is when they’re posted too often, too soon, but when there’s a lack of discussion, every time will seem too often, too soon.
We’ve had memes before, hell, the last time we made fun of N devolved into a meme battle, the difference is that we moved on from it, but it’s much harder to move on when there’s very little discussion as it is.
Honestly, Meme Monday isn’t really a serious attempt at fixing that, but I am trying to impress the fact that this isn’t really the type of thing we can control or curtail. All we can do is be proactive and create discussion, the way @mewsly so expertly does when she asks for our opinions and comes up with scenarios. Outside of that, I think we just have to accept it when they come, and offer up new paths of discussion when needed rather than simply asking people to stop.
Well, it’s not like the other ones really fit.
M doesn’t really do quality time unless it’s in the bedroom, acts of love unless it’s in the bedroom, vocal affirmation of love unless it’s in the bedroom—you get where I’m getting at, right? lol
(also, forgive me, I don’t have the languages memorized so I may have gotten them wrong)
Well, Mason did say: “I don’t have to like you to sleep with you.” - which kinda means sex isn’t love to them, and definitely doesn’t express a love language.
Yeah well, I agree that it seems hard to find a suitable love language for M. But probably, perhaps, maybe their acts of love is opening up and talking to their partner or caring enough to defend/protect their partner. That’s just my opinion, I might be wrong.
That’s really early in the relationship though, its actually before a relationship at all. Its kind of hard to judge what M is going to be like when they’re in love when they’re not in love with the MC yet, or at least don’t know they’re in love yet.
Edit: I just think its a bit, um, early to be saying the author is wrong about her characters when she has had years to develop them and we’ve know them… a year and a half at most and she purposely keeps things vague so we don’t get spoiled.
When is it too much? If it didn’t stop and a mod intervene and lock the thread, that is much more worse imo. I have seen issue like this before in the other threads. Also it seems unfair to the other threads that have been told off for the memes isn’t it? Like I said in my previous post, I will wait for the mod’s response if we posts memes that many in the past 24 hours.
It is not too bad that there will be lean period during the wait like other titles here, they have their lean periods as well. Anyway just want to say my piece and since we will unlikely to agree on the matter, we just have to wait for the mods to decided which are too much.
Agreed, but in many of those cases, they were warned because the images were spammed without hiding them in summaries. For all the memes that were posted, they were very polite by hiding them, and I think you should make sure to mention that in your message, because I think that does change things.
I think the fact that they were also hidden would also change a mod’s reaction and would not lead to the thread being closed. I think that this is one of the cases where context is everything.
Even so, thank you for always thinking about what’s best for the thread and fandom. I just think that this is one of those times where you don’t have to worry.
Do you think…do you think A has heard Greased Lightning before?
MC: Sorry I’m late guys, my car broke down.
M: Shocking.
F: I’m surprised that it ever worked in the first place.
MC: It’s not that bad.
A: …Detective…if you’d like I might be able to help you with that.
F: I’m sure there are a lot of things you could help the detective with…wiggles eyebrows
M: snorts
MC: coughs and rubs the back of their neck
A: …breaks the office door in their haste to leave
