The Wayhaven Chronicles: Book One (Discussion) FAQ Located on Post 2

What if he wrote a letter like, “In case of my death give to my child’s romantic partner.” and it had the shovel talk written down in it? And included a bunch of our baby pictures to embarrass us? He doesn’t have to be alive to embarrass us in front of UB .

That would be totally amazing, honestly. Dad was prepared for everything.

But… you guys. Imagine with me. Tina giving UB the Shovel Talk. N would just quietly listen and be super nice and Tina would go easy on them. A would be grumpy and Tina would bend their ear real good. I don’t think F would understand and would probably keep distracting her during it. Then M… oh god…

On an unrelated note and for the sake of derailing current convo (as usual) I’ve had an interesting idea about Wayhaven as a whole. New way to look at it, at least for me. The book says it’s a chronicle. Meaning, there was someone who recorded the events from their perspective, usually a third party observer that does not influence the flow and outcome of events.
Even the format of the book alludes to this. We not only experience the timeline from MCs PoV, but also from others: UB, Murphy etc. At those instants we gain access to their minds, an insight to their thought process that otherwise could never be known.

Seeing how multifaceted the picture we receive is, I get an impression this observer is most likely not human if he was witnessing the events in person. Or maybe it’s some bloke from distant future perpetuating our little adventure? Of how a certain cop got from filing paperwork and investigating lost pet cases to being knee-deep in love and human vs supernatural conflict.

Not unlike the Mass Effect stargazer ending, all in all. Our MC is our creation, yes, but everything was already predetermined and written down. You’re in for a ride, you can make choices and switch rail tracks, but they all lead to one and only destination.

What do you all think? Agree/disagree/“you’re bonkers, I want some of that you’re having”? If yes, who and how do you think recorded our story and how grand it has yet to become?

And btw now I find it hilarious to think there could be some old grandpa solemnly retelling kid a great tale of a heroic detective who often got late for work, vented anger on broken coffee machines and banged hot vamps was diligent and hardworking, never to lose sight of what’s important and was never one to give up :smirk:

If it’s an M playthrough, I want to know where that kid’s mother is and if they know what kinda stories grandpa is telling them.

Wow…you just blew my mind. What if its all just a simulation used to train new agents like the Animus in Assassins Creed and thats how we see other peoples perspectives? We are living through the detectives life and getting skills through their experiences.

Edit: Think about it:

Our attraction to UB helps make us sympathetic to supernaturals, F’s dislike of demons shows us that supernaturals have internal feuds, we work with a natural vampire and a vampire who speaks echolian so we can pick up the language, we fight Murphy so we know how to deal with vampires (plus we fight a different supernatural each book), we learn how to clean up supernaturals messes. It all makes sense!

Wouldn’t the third party be Sera? She is the Author.

SERA IS A SUPERNATURAL CONFIRMED.

What if its agent Chana? She goes into Murphys mind to get out information. She could have seen the story from his point of view then. Maybe she wrote a book or told her or the MC’s kids about the detectives experiences?

Agent Chana looked into the Thrall’s mind. Although…

gasp Sera is Agent Chana! :scream:

I assumed that when we capture Murphy she is the one who is, as Rebecca puts it,
“Trying to get information out of him now.”

True, true, but remember Murphy can escape so while it’s logical for Chana to be the one trying to get information out of him he wouldn’t be around to get information for everyone.

I’d assume that if Murphy does escape, we eventually do capture him. I doubt the Agency would just let him go. Especially after what he did to us. I’m still more convinced by my “Its all a simulation” theory though.

ahem ahem ahem, i think everyone’s forgetting that a Seraphim is a type of angel. Sera is literally recording all this from heaven, duh.

Well…

The game says if you do capture him that getting information isn’t going well. We don’t know for sure if Agent Chana’s power’s would work on Murphy at all. We haven’t see any Supernaturals using their abilities on each other, at least not physical or covering up the MC’s scent with their pheromones. Plus… who’s to say that Murphy will get caught if he escaped? Or at least caught alive?

I’m kind of just…hoping we catch him I guess. With him knowing about our blood I’d think that the agency would triple their efforts to capture him so supernaturals don’t know our identity.
It’s really in their best interest not to let him get very far. Plus they know what he looks like and his last location.

We shall have to wait and see! I’m thinking Murphy capture will be a plot point in a later book and not something that happens off screen so we will know what happens.
