The Sword of Rhivenia (Remake) (DEMO UPDATED 04/06)

Hi everyone! I just wanted to ask a quick question about how the stats (in terms of skills) impact the story? Do they significantly change major paths, or are they more about adding flavor and shaping how scenes play out? Want to get a sense of if I should try to go for an optimize build or focus more on the role playing aspect.

At least three instances that it affects a scene, swordfight skill in the duel vs Richard, riding in the horse race against Nicholas and archery if you want to impress your father during hunting. All of which are avoidable.

I don’t think if any of them would play any significant role in the story, so far it looks mostly role playing focused. The instance of the swordfight check is also mostly affected by role play and what you carve on your sword, toy for very easy, throne’s diamonds for very hard

From what I’ve seen in my playthroughs if your knowledge is high enough you will get the right answer in Gerard’s lessons, if you archery is high enough you are guaranteed to shoot a deer during our hunting trip with Father and if your swordsmanship is high enough youncan defeat Richard in a tournament Idon’t know anything about close combat but from what a friend of mine has read on thumbir a situation involving close combat might happen relatively soon. I hope this helps :+1:

no it doesn’t work like that my archery was high but my mc still failed at shooting the deer and riding to win against the that foreign prince would only work if you choose to add some new horse shoes for your horse, the author is still using that method, of if you choose a certain option then you will succeed, so far is only the duel against Richard that might used our skill stats

I cheated to check and Archery stat doesn’t matter for the deer, you need to have picked archery at least once before to hit the deer.

Same for the race against the RO, Riding doesn’t matter, you can’t win unless you pick the new horseshoe at the blacksmith before leaving.

Even with both stats at 90 or even 100, it does nothing.

Now that you mention it, I did notice that on my last replay. The stats seem largely meaningless and it’s all just based on previous choices.

I honestly have yet to notice a single stat check. It’s basically just the duel.

Okay! Thanks, appreciate it, it’s not very clear on what each stat does or its usefulness. And it seems like you’re presented the same way regardless of skill stats. Hopefully we get to see more usage of them now that we are king.

Loved the scene with Clara and the butterflies.

She’s still on the poly route with Revna or Lena, isn’t she?

Its Lena only.

Lena

Revna is under consideration (from what’s been said on Tumblr)

Couple days ago I finally got around trying the demo of this updated SoR and holy hells, it is so, so good! I would be more than happy to pay the full price for this version all over again @NutellaQueen

I was thinking the same since that one lesson with Gerard about how to deal with that kind of situation. I would love to see how the choice we picked there plays out.

I just want to go into negotiations with Lena already. War isn’t an option and she knows that so what am I giving up?

It’s not an option for her either since you have an hostage.

Your hostage most likely.

There is clearly going to be something more since releasing Xavier would be so simple.

If it’s independence, we are screwed.

Not really, she can’t ask that while you have an hostage.

You think Lena would stop trying to gain independence for a single person when she sees that we are now in a war against many Southern kingdoms?

Love is love but gaining an independent kingdom is huge. Why would she not take the chance?

Yes, that’s the point of an hostage.

It’s not a question of love, you just can’t ignore a member of your family being taken as an hostage to ensure your compliance, that’s just not acceptable and would turn you into a pariah that 1: Nobody can trust you anymore and 2: Make ANY conflict you end up involved in a ‘to the death’ kind of conflict because nobody will be able to trust you to make good on your capitulation since they already know you don’t give a shit about hostages.

So unless she plans to never get into a conflict ever again or plan to always win them all without any safety net in case of defeat, it’s just not a reasonable option.

At best she could justify joining the other guy under the excuse of ‘freeing her hostage brother’ but that would just mean she’d end up a vassal of the other guy so no independence.

Because it’s not really a chance, she’d just make herself a pariah amongst nobles and her own vassal just to end up having to deal with the guy you’re fighting probably very much wanting her territory too once you’re gone.

Independence just isn’t a viable path for her right now. It’s either she stays as your vassal and maybe manage to get a royal wedding or freeing her brother out of it or she become your enemy’s vassal and maybe get to free her brother out of it.

Eh, fair. I don’t see the reason she would stop because of only one person. Neither do I see her minding to become a vassal for Erwan since she hates Rhivenia right now.
