I’d posit that the “douchebag” route is the “hard mode” of games such as these with a high emphasis on the intrigues and social relationships of you and the characters. Can your character avoid a sticky end despite being a royal pain, and can you, the player, overcome your desire for the best possible outcome, clear your memory banks of each choice’s outcome, and watch the world burn?

Honestly, I recommend it. I tried it once but I never got the mental strength to continue, but after countless amounts of mental crisis I finally did an ‘asshole King’ play and oh boy was it fun. But don’t overplay it thought. You just need a healthy dose of douchebagry to keep you sustained, because too much can turn you into a psychopath that resolves conflicts in their Kingdom by beating the shit out of subjects and enemies alike.

He wanted to dislike her first because she was team Richard at first, but shes such a cinnamon bun that he couldn’t help falling for her too. My MC was literally tsundere with her first but whenever she cried or was sad my MC folded like a simp and helped her out

I bet using that could later help us try to overthrown him ourselves or help Atheris overthrown him.
We could point it out as we try to get more support from the peoples about how him choosing his lover over the kingdom and up making thing much worse since refusing to marry Queen Lena made him lose her a support.
