Not my own work. Artbreeder (as I mentioned in my previous post to). It’s a pic editor thing available online. (Actually I think the author used this too to get the pics of the ROs which we can see in the game stats, hence why I was looking for something like that), anyway I cant use that pic editor thing, so I admit I had to borrow (I tried to come clean before too) someone elses work from Pinterest (there are many artbreeder pictures uploaded there).
Rhivenia might get wiped out.
Surely would be wiped, people rebelling, richard and isabelle hate me (should’ve been marrying richard off far away if he ended up hating me), and i’ll probably take freya’s lover as ally if he’s not an asshole that is
Playing kind MC reminds me of child Roman emperors during turbulent times.
I wish at the end of the last book was possibility of destroying the sword.
Surely there would be some crying, screaming, and blood before the Rhivenians got used to the new system… but, oh well…
So yeah, I’m kind of disappointed not gonna lie… But maybe that’s my fault for having my expectations to high. Going over some things that really bothered me.

The leader path and just being royalty path don’t feel that different from each other. In fact the plot seems to railroad you far too much for a cog game at points. The fact that the MC still end ups getting poisoned on both paths is just disappointing. I really don’t like that there is nothing you can do to stop your kingdom from getting poisoned. Even killing Astryn as early as possible, wont stop what happens. It just feels like my decisions don’t really matter…

The MC feels very weak in this, like a background character almost. I know that sounds harsh. But while playing as king or queen, I felt like I had very little power… Stats don’t even seem to matter at all. Also there were these weird fake ass choices where you can pick that you want to torture Astryn for information on Erwan and his army. But when it comes time to decide her fate, there is no option to do so???

Romance: The romance in this feels extremely rushed. Now I know you could make the argument that this book or genre isn’t romance focused. So of course there isn’t going be that much of a focus put into it. But I’m honestly tired of that excuse. Maybe I have become to spoiled after experiencing the amazing romance from The Golden rose book and other Cog games that have good romance like Wayhaven. ( yes I know Wayhaven is primarily a romance series) But it is also able to balance that with a good and fairly engaging story as well.
But still, the fact that Revna who was my favored romance in this game ends up falling in love with me after 4 or 6 conversations in total just felt so laughable. There was literally nothing believable about it. Especially how in a few earlier conversations she told my MC that they meant nothing to her. The drastic change in how she feels about you that happens so quickly is just very jarring. I really feel like we should of had more time to spend with her and more interactions. We end up barely knowing anything about her, (besides her whole situation with Daemir) And were supposed to be in love by the end? its very weird, its a shame because there was a lot of room for character growth and interesting moments with her. I feel like the subtle nods to her relationship with the male soldier, could of introduced some interesting tension with her not wanting to be tied down with anyone after losing her first lover. while she also battles with her growing feelings for the MC.
- In terms of the other romanceable characters they felt kind of meh. I can only speak for the female ROs as I didn’t really bother with the male ones. Clara was as interesting as a plank of wood. And I only bothered with it to screw over Richard. That being said out of all the ROs she has the best relationship development with the MC due to them being childhood friends. The Astryn romance is just so painfully bad imo. I like to consider my self a pretty forgiving person when it comes to ROs, but my god. The amount of forgiveness and kindness you would need for someone like Astryn, borders on nonsensical levels. I don’t Mind ROs doing horrible and terrible things. My favorite romance characters are Jun and Junko from Soh. That being said, the relationship with Astryn just does not seem natural in how it progresses. Like I ended up feeling like a legit piece of shit and traitor to my people after romancing her. I wouldn’t have felt bad at all if any of the peasantry or my family had decided to kill me for what I did. I just know that King Charles was rolling in his grave. Even worse, after agreeing to keep her secret and forgiving her. Astryn still has the fucking gall to consider you her enemy… That’s certainly a way to get me to hate a character.
That being said, despite my criticisms. The game was still enjoyable. I felt like I got my moneys worth for the most part. Hopefully the author can improve some of these things in the next books. As they do have a solid foundation with good and interesting characters. I just wish we got to spend more time with them… I’m definitely interested in Lena, as she seems like she is much more cruel and evil then the other romance options. Her and my evil MC could be a serious power couple lol
I agree with you completely.
Just finished my first playthrough and I really like this game. My main question is how can you get the poly Xavier and Daemir route??? I got the political marriage with Xavier (he and my MC also love each other) but the furthest I got with Daemir is when he gave me a weapon as a gift .
I don’t think you can? I think the polys have to include one of the commoners (either Clara or Jarean).
Thanks for taking the time to leave feedbacks, guys! I will take all the reviews into consideration when I write the second book.
If you have any questions, you can ask me on Tumblr.
Have a good day/night <3
I think you kinda can. Political marriage with Xav (if you’re the ruler) and personal with Daemir
Firstly Junko should be protected at all cost. Secondly Revna is best girl so I am glad you’re a sophisticated gentleman as well. Now to meat of the matter. The issue with Clara is like you said, she is has no personality and only servers to help push two brothers apart. Lena I have no comment on she has been active enough for me to say anything, other than I wished we could have reacted more to her insults instead of taking everything on the chin. Lastly Astryn, I feel sorry for the people that went with her and at the same time I get it. Her route should have been the slow burn that rewards the MC in book three, it could start with her not poisoning the castle and having conflicted feelings about the war and her loyalties. While I left her alive the fact that she still poisoned the Kingdom after I let have a relative amount of freedom, stopped her from being tortured, kept her fed and gave cold hard evidence that she is on the wrong side destroyed any character she had.
As for the MC feeling weak I get that, like I said we need a win but its only book one. If the ending of the book is anything to go by we will be able to take different actions in book 2, like being able to retaliate when disrespected.
To me playing a kind character quite a lot reminds of War of the Roses, especially because I was playing as Richard III, and it is incredible how closely you can recreate the relationships in the game to match. It is quite amusing to make Clara into your very own Anna Neville and then the game is like “doki doki which Prince am I going to choose, Prince Richard or Prince Richard”. I certainly had a lot of fun doing that playthrough. Especially, after watching War of the Roses anime just this spring too.
One of the problem that I have with the game other that the one already mentioned it is this: Why we keep Freya secret for ourselves, and only tell her that we knew the truth ? Why we can not tell to the others? I don’t knew Aetheris, especially when she is the damm queen.
Keep vital information about a member of the royal family to your ruler, should be seen as treachery, it also stupid from a political standpoint because if Isabella discovered that, she will use to undermine Aetheris rurelership.
They want a merciful king alright, until you makes actual merciful choices and they’re all like KILL THIS MF! HE DEFENDS CHILDREN!!!
I don’t get why the people likes Richard, he does NOTHING.
And Jun don’t forget about him either. Jun and Junko are both precious cinnamon rolls
Us men of culture should stick together
Same, that annoyed me as well, I’m hoping that we will be able to have a proper back and fourth with her in the sequel.
Yep same here, I was pretty much fine with Astryn and was even looking forward to romancing her, because I enjoy the enemies to lovers trope. But having Astryn be the reason why the kingdom gets poisoned just leaves far to much of a bad taste in my mouth to look past it. Because like you pointed out, even if your kind to her and do her no wrongs she still tries to kill you and your kingdom. It just makes her character look really bad. And any goodwill or sympathies you might’ve had for her character gets thrown out the window. I would’ve much preferred for her to have not known about the poison beforehand. And possibly be horrified by Erwans actions. Or depending on your relationship, If you have been kind to her etc, she doesn’t poison the kingdom and starts to doubt her mission. But if you have been cruel to her and hurt her every step of the way, then she goes through with the plan to poison the kingdom.
Even though its book 1, I feel like there were still plenty of moments where we could’ve taken charge. Like, when the MC gets attacked by Richards supporters in the forest could have been a good chance to showcase all that supposed combat training. But considering Book 2 will have us going to war with Erwhan, hopefully we will have more chances for our MC to shine
Why is there no option to actually torture and afterwards kill Astryn after we specifically said that’s what we would do with the one that poisoned us? I chose to cure her just cause I wanted to exactly do that, but no all you let us choose to tell the others is that we won’t execute her??? It’s awesome we cannot actually do what we mean
I could be wrong, but I don’t think Daemir has a poly route.
I romanced him and accepted Xavier’s political marriage. Not much happened. Daemir didn’t come outside with the MC to risk getting poisoned like Jarean & Xavier did in their poly route.
When I chose to romance Jarean or Xavier, then both of them (in another playthrough), it locked me out of Daemir’s route both times.
he doesn’t do that but he has a scene where he is looking out the window at the mc and his sister hopes he falls in love with the mc
It’s honestly hilarious how the people in the end want to rebel in all the three routes.
Seriously, if Rhivenians want Queen Freya that badly, they should just outright say it.
Daemir wouldn’t have a poly but will agree to mc getting married politically to Xavier on the condition that he shall be the only one the mc loves.
