The People's House - Published March 6th, 2025

It’s one of the things I go back and forth a lot with as I write. I do not plan for the game to be more escapist, there will be topics of substance abuse or alcoholism as your term progresses and stress mounts, and there will be an eventual war which certainly won’t always be pleasant.

Potentially, yes. This first key legislation in your first 100 days will solely regard abortion, but later on you will be able to focus on another bill. So it would be possible to ban abortion in your first 100 days and later pass a welfare/childcare package.

Is it base for MC to lower corporation tax only if a very significant percent goes to research new technology and all the other means of avoiding taxes by the corportion in the tax code is removed. It will be a tough battle for any administration it still possible .

As of right now, at least to the best of my knowledge, there is no policy option to lower the corporate tax as I haven’t written the budget scene yet. There is a potential for your Secretary of the Treasury to bring it up as a suggestion, depending on who you pick, but no actual way of implementing it in-game just yet.

Hello, everyone! Happy July and happy Ice Cream Month!

Before my bi-weekly forum post comes out later this weekend, I wanted to send out a quick post/update about my Patreon. As it is the beginning of the month, now is the best time to join if you’ve been thinking about it. By joining at the beginning of the month, you’re getting the most out of your money.

By far, the most popular reason behind joining is access to a regularly updated demo. This demo is now at around 64k words and I have a personal goal to get to 75k words by this Sunday (we’ll see if I can do it!). I promise that I will not be making any posts advertising this beyond this one (that isn’t the point of this thread), but I just wanted to make one as it’s the first opportunity to join at the very beginning of the month.

For those of you who are also interested in some of the goals I have set, we’ve already reached 5 patrons, meaning I’ll be hosting an hour-long live chat with all of you ideally sometime soon! I have also set a more ambitious goal for when I reach 13, where I’ll be putting out an exclusive post on that platform with some of my future plans and ideas.

As I said, this will be the last time I dedicate a post just to adveritising this, but I wanted to make it as a reminder to anyone who was waiting!

Wait, what?

July was proclaimed National Ice Cream Month by President Reagan in the 1980s! Perhaps one of the only uncontroversial topics regarding the Reagan Administration.

So quick question how many words do you intend to have in the game?

This is a great question and one that I’ve bounced around a lot with. The honest answer is I don’t really know. When I started writing this, the thought of writing anything over 150k words seemed impossible and yet I’ve only been working on The People’s House for a little over a month now and I’m already at just under 75k words (hoping to hit that landmark by this weekend).

The fact that I’ll likely have close to 90k words at just Chapter 2 is making me very aware that this is a longer project than I initially was planning on – and I think that’s great. So I really can’t say for sure how long it will be. This chapter, in particular, is so long because there are 9 different bills all with about 2-3k words depending on which one you go with.

If need be, the story may be split up into two books, with Book I ending with you either being re-elected or not. I’m really just not sure yet.

Alright thanks for the information mate:D

Book 1 ending with being re-elected means that only certain endings can be carried forward (one ending, in this case). That makes perfect sense. Unless the end states are wildly divergent after the “re-elected y/n?” question.

My impression was that “carry out 2nd term,” “get impeached,” and “get assassinated” will all be possible after re-election.

Also, while extremely unlikely, it’s theoretically possible that @RFKramer could add an option to try to repeal the 22nd Amendment. (Granted, that would probably result in the same ending as “get impeached” or “get assassinated.”)

I haven’t put a ton of thought into splitting the story into two books but my initial plan would allow a person who doesn’t win re-election to try again in 4-8 years. I haven’t planned out every single ending yet as I’m not even halfway done with the first term yet but I’ll put more thought into it when the time comes.

Impeachment will be a primary focus during your first term, so I doubt I’ll re-introduce that element of the story in the second but I’m not entirely sure just yet.

I think I’ve decided not to allow any section regarding amending the Constitution mainly because of how difficult and lengthy the process is, and further, how the process doesn’t even really involve the President. Constitutional Amendments require Congressional approval and the approval of State Legislatures, but not the President. While a situation where you have a supermajority in both houses of Congress is possible, I just don’t see any way for the MC to influence states to pass it as well.

It’s actually be a great way to progress story as a war is broken out only a few month before end of your president election and MC is only able to make a few decision and the full confrontation is left as a cliff hanger. And war kind of help MC to get re-elected but if MC barely managed to win might leave to more civil unrest as people blame MC for all the problems and hard to realy people behind a single cause and war crimes are a really of all large scale conflicts . If MC have almost half the country againt him then large scale riot and anti war sentiment might results in a defeat on the other hand if only 2/3 of the people support the war effort might go more smoothly as no riot, more military recruiting, public finding, selling of bonds, industrial output ,ability to pass laws with much less difficult and other nations having confidence in America pax

I would like to reiterate my confirmation. What elements will be included in future updates on justice and diplomacy?

Since we’re still talking about the supreme Court would you add to the story a scenario where a Justice or Justices died or retired and you can propose your pick?I think that’ll be cool and in the end of the game you can add your legacies about how you change the Court and the country just like how people view Eisenhower is the reason why the US end segregation etc etc during the Warren court

Yep, this will be a feature in the game!

As for this question, aside from what I’ve already said about the diplomacy chapter and elements of the judicial branch, I really can’t say too much more. If peolpe are interested in asking questions that may spoil parts of the story, they can do so over Patreon!

Or also in direct message. For those who cannot donate as well as general impressions and speculation of your WIP testers :slightly_smiling_face:

To clarify — I do not answer questions that might spoil the story over DMs now as that is a benefit for supporters of my Patreon. I do, of course, still welcome your feedback, impressions, and suggestions either on this thread or through direct messages!
