Is actually fun to talk with and by that I mean trade barbs snark at and sass him, my mc cannot stand him otherwise.
Not too small, with a comfortable bed and its own desk, a magical window, and a door that can only be opened by you or the school staff (which Iām sure will do wonders for your paranoia ). No en suite, but there are good facilities in each of the dorms. What other things might you want in a bedroom?
Wonāt do any wonders for my mcās paranoia either. Well I guess itās showering with a bathing suit on.
Even modern prison cells get a toilet and sink and increasingly a shower too after all.
I though you also said there were differences between the houses and that the accommodation we get as the presumptive chosen one is different from what weāll be downgraded to later on.
A wardrobe/closet.
My mc would want a lockable trunk thatās nearly unbreakable and that cannot be easily opened by anyone except him.
He would also be interested in trying to buy just something like that in shopping scene.
Showers (and toilets, obviously) would be in their own self-contained stalls. So you might have to queue, but you shouldnāt have to share (unless you want toā¦ )
I guess I might add a sink, but that would probably be the maximum.
Differences are mostly cosmetic. I mean, it would make sense for Water Hall to have far better stuff than the others, but I donāt want to penalise anyone for not choosing them.
And Iāll be keeping you just in the basic accommodation both before and after; no downgrading required.
Yes, I would expect them to be more luxurious than the others and conversely the rooms in the air dorms to provide built-in space (bookshelves) for a mini personal library. If not then it is likely that in-game the school has rules against that kind of stuff.
Maybe those rules can even be fairly recent so that in the past Water house did actually live in opulent luxury before being forced to change?
While Fire and Earth may have had more communal dorms and facilities.
Other than perhaps doing away with some private and personal libraries I would expect such changes to have impacted Air the least as a house?
Wellā¦given how the mc here has always been busy just surviving and is exceedingly young he probably knows at this point that he likes guys but isnāt publicly āoutā yet in part due to lingering institutional homophobia and for the other part due to how young he is and up until now being focused on simply surviving.
But, no, the physical one would be to simply put clothes and stuff that is not so sensitive it has to go into the trunk into. Actually living in a closet is soo Harry Potter and besides I think my mc would actually prefer living under a bridge to living in Harryās cupboard under the stairs.

All of the accommodation is pretty much the same. I did wonder about having larger rooms for upper years, and I suppose a Chosen One might warrant one of the larger rooms, butā¦ do you really want to be booted out of your room when it turns out youāre not them?

Want has very little to do with it, which ties heavily into the psychological makeup of this mc, he never gets anything he wantsā¦which is why he has to wait to seize it. Which in turn is why heās ultimately aiming to oust ādog-faceā by way of Klingon promotion.
But getting booted out of a room is a really minor thing compared to some of the other shit heaped onto this poor mc. I mean itās inconvenient and reinforces the recurring theme of his life but it wouldnāt give him sleepless nights or anything.
Okay, so unfortunately my computer broke and I lost pretty much all of the next chapter/scene (your introduction to the dorms). Iāve been trying to get the data recovered, but the people I gave my computer to are dragging their feetā¦ and I donāt want to rewrite stuff that could still be recovered. However, in the meantime, I have completed the following chapter. Do people think I should upload this new chapter now, even if it skips stuff? (Note: nothing in the new chapter will rely on stuff from the missing chapter.)
This would make it even easier wouldnāt it (plus the dorms donāt seem as differentiated in terms of accommodations, quality, etc as they could have been). The Fallen Hero WIP occasionally did and does this, indicate where there are missing or incomplete scenes or where new scenes will be added, so if (almost) nothing in the code or narrative really relies on the missing scene I say go for it.

Iād still really, really like a shoe (well expensive, fancy boot in my mcās case. ) choice to go with the breeches to make them look good. As well as a general expansion of the shopping bit, my mc would really like to test his new financial leash. before it all gets taken away again and it is back to grinding poverty.
I also see young Charlieās mood has not improved in chapter 3.
