The Odessa Dating Games (WIP) - UPDATING IN MID-JULY!

In my head i can see a illusive stranger wearing a domino mask a overly frilly Victorian style blouse/shirt
(in the crowns colors of course) loose silk pants, soft leather archers gloves, and a pair of oh so fine wingtips.

Oh definitely! Sliding scale of noticing.

You sure will, if you want.

My favorite dynamic sort of thing I found was a charming heir x a laid back mc so I imagine the heir would go ALL OUT for the proposal but my mc would be all like “Yeah, sure dude.” :joy:

I think you meant to post that somewhere else.

Lmao my fucking dipshit flatmate took my phone while I was sleeping

Hello everyone!

Making great process on getting the update out to you guys by the end of the week. I’ve completed the rally scenes and as those are getting edited and tested, I’ll be working on a coffee shop scene in which you will run into a few familiar faces…as well as get coffee (or whatever you’d fancy).

After this scene I have two more scenes to write and code!

Been loving reading how you guys think your ROs would propose and how your MCs would react. I’ve actually already written a few proposal scenes, which I personally think are swoon worthy

See you soon!

For some reason, i have a naggy feeling that we’ll either have to organize a dinner for someone or cook. Can we know what’s the most favorite and most disliked food of each RO?

Totally!

Summary

Bex: A vegetarian for obvious reasons. They tried to become vegan, but their guilty pleasure is cheese, so they’ve decided to just be vegetarian  So meat bad, cheese good.
Mozelle: Loves sweets, chocolate and all of that. She has a nut allergy so of course, she hates nuts. This isn’t widely known for obvious reasons, so the Crown keeps this under wraps.
Lyon: Lyon’s vegan but could care less what everybody around him eats. So…he likes vegan dishes and dislikes non-vegan dishes.
Charming Heir: They’re a sucker for homecooked meals. They like things that take sometime to make to they can spend time with whomever is making them. They don’t really dislike anything.
Aloof Heir: They would never admit it but they really like cupcakes. Doesn’t matter the cake or icing flavor, but as long as it’s in cupcake form, they love it. But in public they would say they dislike anything sweet.
Flirty Heir: They love spicy items and hate sour things. You also can’t get them to touch a vegetable unless it’s at an important dinner or event.
Shy Heir: They love clean eating, so they dislike fried things save for a few fair favorites. Salads, healthy foods, etc. are their favorites.
Sarcastic Heir: They are a big foodie and eats everything under the sun. Seriously, there’s not a dish in the world they haven’t tried or isn’t planning to try.
Rude Heir: Will only eat food made by three particular chefs in the Palace kitchens, or this mom and pop Italian (which in this world would be the city of Aven) restaurant. Should you choose to romance them, they’ll tell you all about this story if you succeed. Lasagna is their favorite dish.
Odi/Odanna: Your roommate loves a variety of dishes, as they’ve been all across the country. Some of their favorite foods include: a sticky sweet bread from Scarbrough, chili from the Far North and taffy from Jolley. Much like the sarcastic heir, they’re a foodie!
Queen Juliet: Will publicly say that she dislikes human food, but if you put something chocolate in front of her…well…she’ll reconsider it. But like Bex, she is vegetarian.

Great question. Thanks for asking Abe! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks as well! i really enjoyed reading the answers. And that’s good because i really want to make Raine a foodie and an okay chef and something tells me we could use this to our advantage during interactions and date nights.

I approve of Mozelle and Queen Juliet’s tastes. :chocolate_bar:

I approve of this as well.

However…

This time around it’s flirty heir who is my spirit animal.

OMG shy heir I’m soooo disappointed in you! :sob: How could you do this to me?!

Then chocolate is the secret to Juliet’s heart. I knew it.

lays trail of M&M (on plates so its edible to her) to a large cardboard box and stick as a joke
very curios as her reaction to this kind of thing.

I will confirm or deny nothing!

Don’t tell them that. They’ll probably cry

 hopefully you have a good relationship with her because otherwise…well…she’s going to be rather insulted. She’s not familiar with a lot of human customs so she will definitely think you’re trying to capture her or something, unless, of course, you can talk her down.

Oh no. They’ll cry, and I’ll start crying and it will become a whole thing.

Might be a good idea to add a randomizer to the heir personality for replayability purposes. For example I might react favorable to a sarcastic heir but might be unfavorable against a shy heir and thus go for someone else / different choices.

Of course the randomization of the personality would be left to the players choice. Instead of them selecting a personality give them a surprise me option?

So I decided to give this game a try because I felt like going around, testing out some demos and giving some feedback.

I generally don’t like romance that much but as I read this story, I was somewhat hooked to the story. This is probably because the stories where you put an otherwise completely normal protagonist who could probably exist as a real person in an absolutely impossible and absurd scenario are kind of my cup of tea, the whole dating game scenario in the story really gives the game a distinctive comedic charm, but I still appreciate the moments of genuine emotion that this story can give, as seen in the prologue, and I wished moments like those were found more in the demo.

The entire scenario of the game is unique and so far, it is well capitalized on for me since screens like the Odessa Dates: The Premium Version screen really take advantage of it. It still kind of lacks it since there are little stat changes for the Media Stats, but that’s all because those parts are probably not because of the demo.

Describing things is also something this game does good in. It’s good enough to give me a gyst of the environment as well as the characters without slowing down a story, especially since said story is about a competition, so it better have a fast pace to keep the tension going (at least for me).

I also commend the customization for the player character, and after all, that’s what makes these games different from novels. The depth of customization really allows me to connect to my in-game character.

But the whole origin selection needs some work, at least for me (do note that some of this may be useless since there are a lot of parts of the game I haven’t seen outside of the demo). The University option appears to be the best possible choice since it affects your stats the most while the other options only increase certain stat or more by 2%, which can be easily wiped out by a fee quick choices. But the choices you make at the Dating Site sign-up, they’re fine and are good as they currently are.

I may add more to this but I still have a gut feeling that I need to read a bit more for more feedback. Overall, I enjoyed the book even though my male friends will pick on me for reading it, I look forward to it’s publishing. It’s got potential for a 4.5 or 4.8 on Google Play Store for me, hopefully it stays that way as you continue to work on it.

LOL. this is very specific! how do you know the rude heir is a cat person?

Hey, I like this idea. I’ll see what I can do!

First of all, thanks for adding these comments and suggestions! I’ll answer most of them like this, if you don’t mind.

This particular comment has been made before, so I’ll keep working on playing up the hamminess of the dating website.

Right, these stats will move more after the new update!

Glad you enjoy all the customization. This part in particular has come a long way since the beginning and I’m glad you can really connect.

Great feedback! After going back through, I didn’t realize how fleshed out the university and even the family background seem compared to the other backgrounds. I’m adding two more backgrounds in the future and as I’m working back in the beginning of the game again, I’ll be adding more to all the scenes so it seems like the university route isn’t the “best” route.

 by all means, come back when you have time to look at the game some more. I enjoyed reading all of this, especially about the beginning, which always tends to need reworking as a game progresses. Thanks again for all the feedback!
