The Marked (WIP)

I don’t want to seem arrogant but I don’t understand how difficult it is to get the power you want, I followed what the author said and I always get the power I want

@Wiliam_Rafael_da_Sil I’m glad that it hasn’t been causing you any difficulty!

“All it requires is a wee heatin’ on th’fire and an’ awa’ with those pesky wrinkles ye acquired.”

Lol, firstly what tone do we use, when reading that :point_up_2: :point_up_2: :point_up_2: :point_up_2: :point_up_2: :point_up_2: :point_up_2: :point_up_2:

Anyway secondly liked how if you select mage route, a picture of an orb pops up and something else for another route. Then the imagery of the registry is insane, with tiny symbols in the shapes.

The Priestess sighs. “Of course, that’s all the youth care about. No one cares about the real work.” She mumbles.
Begrudgingly, she answers you. “Yes child,…”
Its hard not to chuckle at the imagery.

And thirdly then this whole conversation, had me chuckling FrFr. S/O Wilbert

Fourthly here are some typos

A pressurized forced within you, straining to free itself.

You think she is going to stop you, but then she turns back toward the post, continuing she work

While you have noted a very slight refined tilt to his voice, her accent didn’t seem much different than anyone else’s here in Braum. (swaps her and his).

Fifth, will definitely try keeping an eye for updates.

Oh, and I just found out recently that dashingdon site will be down for security concerns. I didn’t see a cogdemos link. So incase you didn’t back up, it’s advisable to do so

I’m glad you liked it! I spent a lot of time on that, haha. Also, thank you for the typos. I make so many changes that I often miss them.

Will you be moving to CoGdemos when DashingDon shuts down, or are you going to host this yourself or move to itch? I’m trying to keep track of where the WIPs I like are going.

Just read it, and I really enjoyed it so far! I look forward to see how this develops.

I’ve been asked about COGDemos and itch.io so I’ll probably put it on both so people can use whichever they prefer! I’ll have it done sometime this weekend.

@LordMirror I’m happy to hear that. Thank you for trying it out!

I only just found out about this WIP and I can definitely say that it’s enjoyable so far, though I do have a question. Going down the guardian path when I talk to the blacksmith, the swords are multicolored, when I first read this I assumed that our MC would be able to acquire multiple affinities if not all of them, so I was slightly confused and disappointed when I later only got the option to choose one affinity.

So would we be able to acquire more as the story progresses or will be have to stick with the one we choose. Apart from that keep up the good work!

Ty for taking the time to play it! The reason the mc is unable to discern the color of the sword is because it is affinity conducting. When viewed by a Marked, the swords reflect the color of the user’s affinity. Since the mc is awakening, their Mark is still undetermined which is why the sword appears to be a host of different colors to them. Unfortunately, it’s only possible for a Marked to have one affinity. @DashingCoward

That’s what I thought it could be, but with 6 different affinities I held out hope that we could get at least one more down the line.

When we’re getting back to our house where we have all of the different options for our affinity how do we get each individual one to be available (not all at once just like in general how do you get each different one)

I haven’t done code diving or anything, but it seems the choices are limited by your personality. I think it’s limited to two choices being available at a time, I’ve experimented to get different options available but it was always ever two options for me.

However, there is a potion in the market which allows one to choose their affinity, and you can steal it.

If there is a specific affinity you are after, someone will probably give you the rundown on the right choices to get it if you ask.

Hello! I’ll try and provide a guide. Each personality: charming, diplomatic, reserved and broody, unlock one affinity automatically. Charming (fire), diplomatic (water), reserved (air) and broody (force). Then, you have your opposing stats: emotion/control, honest/deceitful, wicked/virtuous. Emotion (fire), control (force), honest (water), deceitful (air), wicked (dark) and virtuous (light). You’ll need 65 points in the opposed stats to unlock an affinity. You start with 50 in each and the choice about Randall gives an easy +10 to each individual stat. You’d then only need +5 somewhere else provided you don’t decrease it by choosing an opposed stat. If you’re wanting something more specific, let me know and I’ll make a more detailed post when I’m finished with my classes.

@stsword It’s possible to get up to four, but easier to get three. For example, say your personality is reserved. It automatically unlocks air. Then, if you play as an emotional or controlled mc, that unlocks either fire or force. If you are deceitful, it technically unlocks air as well which would be an overlap, but if you play as honest, you’ll open water. Then wicked or virtuous. But if you played to the other two opposed stats, it’s harder to get wicked/virtuous as there isn’t as much opportunity for them.

Well that’s interesting. My typical playthrough I tend to unlock air (reserved,) force (controlled,) light (virtuous, I guess?) and water (honest.)

I generally choose force, though. Sometimes I choose air. I only chose light once.

What determines what the potion gives you, because I’ve been reloading and am only getting strength?

It uses a roll system! So it’s completely randomized. I’m not sure how you’re only getting strength, but I can test it out a bit.

Hello! I’ve updated the [demo] and added +48,509 words. The update includes:

  • The situation with your parents.
  • Lore and worldbuilding
  • Canterberry festival with Welling, Venali or Triv.
  • Playable time jump from ages 15-20.
  • An introduction to the last two ROs (Anle and Em).

Some of the responses and details aren’t fully fleshed out. There are spots where I plan to add more content and flavor text, but it was important for me to at least get this update out. Also, I play tested this a lot, but there always ends up being a dozen things that I end up missing. So, if you run into any game breaking bugs please let me know either here or on Tumblr.
