The Lost Heir Trilogy

i know jess is many things, so why not make an insane theory on her being the bastard then, you seem to be good at it… it is afterall just a theory that won’t be true…

You know, finding out that a royal princess is born a soulburner is a very compelling reason to keep her stashed away. Princesses have been hidden for less serious reasons like a fear for spinning wheels or turning to an ogre at night.

Pete/Petra was simply an easier candidate
Not to mention, out of all the companions, he/she is probably the one that might take it the hardest, especially if the religions found in Daria frowns upon incest… Jace/Jess would probably be somewhat shocked but not take it as hard…

i know it’s the easy route that’s why i asked for other theories that you might have for the other companions… wish we had a definitive description of the parents to cross examine peter/petra’s features… like how ned knew robert’s bastards due to the black hair blue eyes of the baratheon line…

though for the other companions its even more of a long shot, though Jess does seem to have the second best fit.
I’d vote for Gale/Gill as the third best fit though; the result of the PC’s father fooling around with a servant (Freda, as I recall?) in his youth… Though Karl/Karla ans especially Theo/Thea are long longshots indeed…

I think you can be easily forgiven for that, heh :sweat_smile: . One will usually go for Petra/Peter instead of Gale/Gill for game and story reasons, after all…

Gale/Gill - the Jon Snow of TLH series :laughing:. Well, not quite, but Gale/Gill indeed seems more likely - it would have been easier for the king to have gotten away with, for one thing…

Actually, I usually go with Gale over Petra for story/game reasons. Gale’s usually much better for my builds and I like her personality better. I specifically have to build for it if I wanna do a Petra playthrough. That said, I like the vampire quest and effects (especially on evil playthroughs) way more than the rage potion quest.

Yes, completely to her own surprise.

And what if your Mc’s heir turns out to be a Soulburner like their mother?

And what if? Soulburning’s perfectly legal, and I’m charming enough to smooth over the difficulties.

how about petra, would she be a good mother?

I think while she would love her child more than she loves the MC, she would probably make for a rather over-zealous mother, which is a kind of influence I don’t want for my own heir.

@Ramidel

Except its frowned upon as unholy - and the royal heir is supposed to have their position ordained by the ā€˜gods’.

Such a heir might have a very difficult time ahead of themselves in terms of getting accepted.

given the situation that forced her into the clerical order, i would understand that she would be that way at first but really putting her into a box just because of her current stance is unfair considering that cold calculating jess can be influenced to be good in a short span of time (biased character development haha), why can’t you think that petra can change as the years go on?..

I’m the Monarch, I make the rules.

Anyway, in my opinion, the one who would be a questionable parent is Brinn. Too much of a proper noble, I could see her favoring ā€œleave the kid to the tutors, it’s my job to be Royal Consort, not change diapers.ā€

lucid’s characters aren’t just one dimensional though… brinn might have a backstory and personality that we haven’t seen yet, like jess’ biased character development…

No one even wants to think about what kind of mother Thea would make… its okay, neither do I really…

I’m not sure if Brinn would be so distant - after all she does try to be emotionally involved as the Royal Consort (if you try to only use her to produce a heir with no regard to her own feelings she resigns her position) so I do think this indicates she would also try to be emotionally involved with her child.

But really I’m more curious as to what kind of mother Jess would make… would she be interested in spending time with it, would she be happy or sad if it inherited her soulburning powers?

@daemonofrazgriz821

Maybe, I just haven’t seen anything as such from Petra just yet, maybe she will change by LH3 and become more tolerant or maybe that would betray her character - maybe she’s always meant to be the religious type.

i guess each game needs it’s archetypes… too bad this isn’t a AAA game that has hours of content, i wonder if bioware can get lucid to make this game into a new series for them… haha… anyway, i do look forward to more character developments from other characters, they seemed to stagnate a bit once after their personal quests…

Gale/Gill is good if you 're aiming for a thief or assassin while Peter/Petra’s better for a fighter, archer, priest - or simply someone who’s aiming to get friendly with Jess; it’s easier to get on Jace/Jess’s good side if Peter/Petra is present after all… Peter/Petra’s quest is indeed a bit more interesting than Gale/Gill’s though.

I’m not sure how a romanced Gill/Gale would react if they found out they were the MC’s half sibling since I never romanced Gill/Gale.
He/She’d probably laugh hysterically and comment that fate or the gods has played a goddamn big prank/joke on him/her and the MC…

I’m probably going to make the same mistake my parents made - I’m going to be distant and uninvolved in my heir’s upbringing.
It’s not necessarily a mistake - a medieval-ish type of monarch may be quite a bit busy and even whne not, he/she may not see him/herself as being the one fit to educate their child - that’s what the tutors, governesses and the like are about; they’re each skilled in their own fields and thus more suited to teac hthe child than the monarch him/herself may ever be. Of course, there can still be difference in how much an effort such monarchs make in order to spend time with their children…

She hasn’t been devoted to the gods her entire life though - she became devoted to them because she felt it was the only way to atone for her parents basically makeing a deal with the devil (Well, actually vampire as we all know, but still). So instead of the whole "why hast thou forsaken me’ thingy that someone devoted all their life would be going though, she’d probably sink into the belief that the gods are punishing her or something along those lines…
