The Lost Heir Trilogy

Hmm… those are pretty respectable stats, I’m surprised a Sage can be an effective wielder of bladed weapons. But really their not that good overall until they get a Dragon (what are the stats for getting a dragon)?

Your class doesn’t always determine your stats. If you focus on swords, bows or magic early and often, then it’ll often eclipse your class focus.

Here’s my sage dragon rider. The dragon rider stat boost didn’t really add much, to be honest (agility was already high, endurance and strength suck anyway):

Just brought both game a few days ago and been throught them. Nicely written and done. I have been throught this game a few times and retried a few time but I figure out how to get certain result like keeping Jess alive at the end. Is there a guide?

We’ll also utter a phrase that makes your magical items worthless. That scene was one of my favorites as I was agonizing over whether or not my physical stats could keep me in the fight with Thuja. I will admit to having to stop reading for a few minutes once I pictured how Thuja’s face looked after the bookish teenager casually deactivates his magic gear and puts a sword through his chest. Sages are much harder to work with viable combat stats in LH1, but for me that just makes them SO much more rewarding when he eventually becomes a dragon riding badass. LH proves that knowledge is indeed power.

@Harian
It’s pretty easy to get decent blades if you have Sir Grady train you in blades. That, combined with an attitude of “If I can’t outsmart it, I can outstab it” worked very well for me.

just those two… conquest and reuniting daria are the same thing if you think about it…
you seem to know a lot about the LoaW, is it good?.. can i be a swordie in that game?.. haha… i know it’s a stupid question but i just felt to ask… since i think i’m missing a good chunk of lore but i refuse to play any game as a wizard…

You’ve gotta play LoaW as a wizard. You can be a wizard who swords a few problems (yes, I used “to sword” as a verb, because this is the English language and I can do what I want with it), but you can’t achieve your goals completely nonmagically.

As Ramidel said, you can use swords or physical combat some in the game (there’s a “fighting” skill for it), but by no means will it get you through the whole game. And you’d still have to go and train at the wizard academy and such - that’s just the way the plot works.

With regards to how good LoaW is, it was ties for my favorite CoG style game with Zombie Exodus until the Lost Heir games came out. I think Lucid’s writing has showed definite improvement with the LH series, but LoaW is still a very good game for the genre.

I gotta admit. It sounds hilarious if I could play ‘life of a wizard’ and not use magic at all. Instead, I just punch all my problems away, especially the magic exams xD

hehe… i just thought they’d be a physical enhancement spell ala dragon age origins’ arcane warrior… hmmm… well, since i played every other games @Lucid has made, might as well try out this one too…

Hey, what if… What if Demon’s aren’t inherently evil but misunderstood? What if they are in fact the next step in building a more progressive Daria with the support they provide in military and labour? What if Zusak’s hatred for the Darian royal family is actually justified?

I don’t think they’re inherently evil, but they are creatures of chaos. They’re too unstable to be used by anyone except a master demon summoner and as such must be extremely regulated, if not outright banned.

In regards to Zusak, I highly doubt he has any valid justification besides “I want power”. Even if he does, he’s still probably gonna get the axe. After all, he did commit regicide, try to murder you as a child, destroy the kingdom, and plunge its lands into chaos by not only allowing unrestricted demon summoning but also providing every country bumpkin with the power to summon creatures of chaos and death.

Reminds me of an anime I watched in the 90s called Rune Soldier Louie. He was a mage apprentice but tended to solve problems by literally punching the crap out of it. The one time he was wielding his wand, he used it as a bludgeoning weapon until it broke.

How I imagine the crush scene:
The dance floor atmosphere becomes even more alive as the bards begin playing a fast-paced lively tune for the enjoyment of all the dancers. Thea laughs in joy at the same time the tune hits your ears. She pulls you into another wild spin across the dance floor and you do your best to keep up. Unfortunately, you feel your feet tangle with hers, and within the space of a moment, you lose your balance, and see that you are dragging Thea down with you. You both try to avoid the incoming impact, but to no avail. The events of your life flash before your eyes and the last thing you see before the crash is Thea’s massive chest on a collision course with your face.
Your senses leave you upon the impact, and seemingly from a distance, you hear a disturbing crunch of bone. You think you hear Thea screaming, but you cannot focus your thoughts to even inquire what is wrong. You also cannot feel any part of your body, and what remains of your vision is clouded by a red haze. You feel the fear of death, stronger than you have ever felt, as you try to will yourself to move, to think, to understand just what has happened to you. But it is for naught. You feel yourself drifting away, the screaming growing distant, and all your thoughts on what might have been, and what you still had in front of you to do, drift away as well. In your last semi-coherent moment, you hear what you think is your mother’s voice, calling you to her, to home, and all you can do follow her voice, leaving the tumultuous path of your life behind.
(Needed 50 Agility, or 60 strength/endurance)
You have died. Game over.
Sorry if this got too long or dark.

I wonder if the MC ever had more family members that died before the series began. Like whether or not the MC’s grandparent was still monarch of Daria when the MC was born.

Like the MC is 12 years old and an only child at the start of the game - which is kind of unusual for royal families to stake the future of their entire dynasty against a single heir, which begs the question why did the MC’s parents not produce any additional off-spring:

1). Fertility problems?

2). Deliberately done as to avoid in-fighting among siblings over the crown?

3). Or they simply had neither the time nor energy?

number 1 is my guess… because it’s always better to have a spare… Lords of Astwick made me realize that, oh and the whole brandon eddard stark situation… i did get number 3 vibe since mc has the option to say that his/her same gender parent has no time for him/her…

The most tragic? Who says you are an only child? You might just have been the only one to survive until 12.

Maybe we had a secret bastard sibling that was either exiled or locked away from public? :scream:

When in doubt, always go for the hidden bastard prince. Or the Ranger in the wilderness, which ever one has the hands of a healer or can befriend hobbits.
