Apparently I managed to forget to add in something to the latest update which I had already prepared, and simply forget to copy to the actual game file x.x
I have added it now, so should there be any problems (bugs or other) let me know!
Changelog
Added option to present as masculine/feminine/androgyn for non-binary MCs.
Added option to bind/have gernder affirmning surgery for non-binary MCs.
Added option to have more than one accessory (beanie/scarf, headscarf/scarf etc.)
Merged the professional stats to the front of the stat screen to make for a better overview when checking stats.
Added in the option to toggle the skill explanation on & off.
Genderal fiddling with stat tracking and amound of increase & decrease of certain choices. (Not finished) (This is my uphill battle and I will never be done with this x.x)
I just looked through the code and I have a question for you : Why do you use fairmath while setting stat checks as normal ? In normal, a +15 stat bonus will give you exactly +15 for that stat but with fairmath, you will only have +14, that one percent can change many things
I actually use both basic math operators and fairmath for stat increases and decreases.
Basic is currently in use for the trust stat and I will likely end up using it for the skills too (combat, charisma, etc.)
Fairmath is in use for affection and personality stats (sincere, emotional, etc.)
I prefer to use fairmath for those choices stats because there are more choices that can change those and due to the percental change of fairmath the amount changed depends on the current value of the stat (aka a 15% increase on 50 is higher than a 15% increase on 70, etc. You can read more about it here.)
The basic math changes make, in my opinion, more sense on stats that are not changed as often, they offer more control and make for easier checking.
All in all it’s mostly a personal preference of mine, mostly due to my general lack of eperience haha.
As for one percent making a difference: Of course, it does! But that would always be the case no matter what type of operator I use. It’s the case in any IF that uses stats.
TH:DE is focused on story and characters, not on stats. You won’t die from not having certain stats developed as much if that is what you’re worried about.
Also, this is still very much a WIP and I’m still figuring out some of the coding and stats, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it in general ^^
Not much to say, it’s essay and paper time, so school stuff comes first. Especially because this semester, I have a class working together with a US university, so the class starts on Monday, way before our usual semester.
But I did fiddle around with the little special I wanted to release around the holidays last year and didn’t get around to finish. So I decided to see how it would look in twine, especially because I know nothing about coding (so that was a hot mess at times) but so far it looks pretty neat!
I’ll have to rewrite the routes a little away from a holiday context, but that’s the least stressful part. I might redesign a little more, but otherwise, I’d like to keep this special in twine, I think. It just looks very pretty rn.
Hey there! I’ve been away for months, so I’m kind of rechecking all the WIPs I’m following - well, at least my favorites - and this one is one of them.
Not THAT much progress since the last time so I don’t really have new things to report, but I still wanted to say that a curious thing happened to me. I fully intended to do only Elian’s romance - cause I adore him. I must have mentionned that in my old comments anyway. And well, there’s also the fact I’m not into romancing females and Bas was not my type.
And then, when replaying now, suddenly I liked Bas a lot more than before, and I can’t fathom the reason for that change. I’m really perplexed at that, but because of that, I’ve played his flirt options this time too, and I’ll admit now I like him just as much as Elian. Go figure.
I was a bit confused by that new choice when the MC comments on Bas flirting. The one with a lot of options that allows the players to hide flirt options with some characters. It bothered me a bit with how it was presented, but you must have reasons to put it there so I won’t complain. But one thing really felt weird. I would like to select the option to only show the flirt options of the character I’m interested in. But when I’m in my Bas playthrough, the option to exclude Elian is… well, quite mean. Since it implies Elian is uninteresting. I guess it’s in a romantic sense, but it still felt weird, so I went with merely selecting the option that says the MC is interested in men and Bas piqued his curiosity. I like Elian way too much to select that other option
That aside, the new content was interesting. That “dream”! So creepy!
I won’t beat around the bush here, so I’ll just say it.
THDE will go on an indefinite hiatus from now on. There are several reasons for this, most of it private stuff that I don’t want to go into, but part of it is that I’m currently having to write several papers, I have a seminar to do and later this year I need to write my final for my degree. Meaning I have currently a lot to do and when I do have free time the thought of having to write is more exhausting than exciting, which is not the way it should be.
I haven’t written a single word for THDE since the last update, so that’s telling, I think. My brain capacity is currently at its limit.
I’m very sorry for that, but it is what it is.
I don’t know when I’ll be back, but I do want to finish telling this story. The characters are all very dear to me and I would do myself and them a disservice if I abandoned this ‘little’ side project completely.
When I do return to writing this, I hope to have a rewrite of what is currently there and hopefully a little more in terms of chapters.
I’ll still poke in by my Tumblr from time to time, answer asks if there are any, but I’d like the @mods to close this thread for now.
