Hello! here’s the quick answer for chapter 1-C puzzle :
1. Finding the right jewels : C-B-E-D
2. Finding the correct button’s sequence : Verdelisse - Midnight Iris - Dawnflare - Stellaferra - Tear of Tethys.
Hope this helps!
Hello! I played the first chapter and a little bit of the second; while the writing is quite good (besides a few hiccups with some words) - seems to be comedy-leaning, which I have to admit, did get a few chuckles out of me. The only really big issue is the lack of impacting decisions that can actually influence the MC personality on a grander scale, not just impact-less lines or choices (I really want to be selfish but I’m feeling like a automatic saviour), this most likely will effect how other characters view mc and how the story unfolds, this seems to be the case with quite a few ‘new’ IF’s, not sure if this one can be called new, 120k words is a wonderful accomplishment for a WIP let alone such a hard to structure thing as an Interactive fiction, (and the characters are beautifully unique) so well done to you and hope it all goes well! But I couldn’t bring myself to go on. Unfortunately, it feels more like I’m a different character entirely, playing a pre-determined story with a pre-determined path, lacking the real personality building and path taking that is somewhat expected of IFs. My persona is…, how do I put this, a prick? Yeah, that one, and the MC seems to be the opposite of that by a jarring margin. I’m forced to save a random guy, follow around random people and fight alongside them, be roped back into a room I just tried to escape, then huff and puff before the option becomes obsolete altogether? I never actually get to be violent, and so I feel like a bystander in a genre meant to cater to the player’s options and not be your average storytime, y’know? I quite like the premise! Not many If’s like it, which is a breath of fresh air. But my persona feels a mile disconnected from this story due to the lack of ‘bad’, ‘evil’ or ‘devilish’ choices. Maybe I judged too quickly, and the others give a much more dynamic player-story instead of story-player playthrough, which, if so fuck yeah! But the first chapter definitely impacts how I perceive the rest of the story will be, just like in a regular book. Those are my complaints; other than that, you have a very interesting setting and quite a fun writing style and once again massive props for even starting an IF! Also, from one artist to another, beautiful art, mwa. Hope all is well and much love! <3

Hello! Thank you so much for the detailed and thoughtful comment! I’m happy you gave the game a try! The story is a bit linear for now, and and I don’t think there’ll be “violent” or “evil” options. Instead the less friendly choices are lean more towards a “selfish” vibe (like the “play along with their plan for now” option, for example.)
These will eventually branch into a different paths and endings later on, but there’re still not much of them currently and will be added more later down the road.
As for overall structure of the game, I’m still working on finding a balance between player-influence-story and story-influence-player, to make sure players have enough flexibility while also keeping the project manageable. Your comment definitely helps me to think more carefully about that balance, so thank you!
Still working my way through the game, but I love your writing voice! This is such a fun game, I’m having a great time!
The update is as wonderful as I expected, didn’t expect John to be so good at acting though! He really knows how to play up the “innocent kid roped into things” angle, he would definitely make a great actor!
I’m all but certain we’ll need to make use of the fact that the Baron can’t tell the difference between the pipes to trick him with the fake, also I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that gold will be a recurring theme for the Hermit’s Treasures, given what we’ve seen of them thus far.
