The Fernweh Saga: Book One (Discussion) [💚 Game Update, Post 1214]

[Spoiler]I think the room changes were probably the creepiest thing for me along with the tiny details like the candel from the lighting moving during the night. The suble things that happen too close for comfort. (P.S. I feel the samd about dolls and the Cat’s Cradle painting.) [/spoilers]

This is the boat I was in. I think I only realized when someone mentioned it in Beta testing. My first two playthroughs were Gianna and Fanny. Gianna noticed all the weird behavior as a red flag, so she was wary with him. Fanny was kind, but she’s afraid of evetything, so the way W was acting in chapter 5 appearing out of nowhere with a drink freaked her out enough to offend W.

Yeah. I’ve gotten it both ways.

Let’s be real, this is true even if you’re wrong.

The teacup in the royal retreat is also unsettling, and adds to the feeling that someone not only haunted your dreams, but helped themselves to “your” tea (technically it’s Mrs. Dorran’s tea set) as a final insult.

Another thing that I found scary (and awesome) is the changes in the stat screen and inventory pages when the SL is messing with your head.

On an unrelated note, I wonder if S will suggest “Smith’s Snooze” as a new room in the B & B, with lots and lots of iron decorations everywhere—and MC is the one to test it out and has the best sleep of their time in Fernweh. “Cozy Construction” also works.

No, though I’m thinking about it in a slightly different way. I’m trying to figure out where or when or how, in this super creepy town where invisible people randomly watch you, my MCs could actually get in the mood. Nowhere seems very… safe. That’s just me, though; I realize “unsafe” sex is something others really enjoy. I think they’re going to be in luck.

If I’m wrong, you might be able tog et away bashing their skulls in with anything, though. For the Fair Folk, you need iron.

What did your MCs (ultimately) succumb to during the first nightmare?

Vivian: Sorrow. He is a very friendly and kind person, and being “betrayed” by people he thought he could trust was very painful for him. He didn’t resist at all, he was fully compliant.
Amari: Anger. He resisted very hard and by the end of this torture he was rightfully pissed off.

Count me in on the gutter crew, too.

Geez, stop pooping on my W parade. Not that I wouldn’t mind making a MC who’s into playing rough (already have some in other games), but bashing a RO’s skull in with an iron rod is a bit much. :smiling_imp:

Worst part is that I figure you’re right and romancing W will be a dumpster fire, which is why I’m not bothering with a MC for him until I know it won’t go to hell.

Naia: Anger
Reina: Sorrow

Still trying to develop a MC for J/R, and kind of want to go the scaredy cat route, but I never have fun playing those characters. I like the stupidly brave or reckless ones much better, so I probably won’t get to see the fear one except for reading it in the code.

On a different note, reading the code for this one is a pleasure. The code is clean and easy to follow. Love it!

Kim: Fear.
Diana: Sorrow.

Once we actually have an idea of who to direct anger/resistance at - right now it’s a bit nebulous - Diana will probably veer toward that path.

lacuna’s comment makes me suspect otherwise. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say you’re good to go:

Hard not to. After all, if your parade is in

that’s where poop ends up. :stuck_out_tongue:

The gutter I meant is for other bodily fluids… :expressionless:

I’m going to make my charming and outgoing MC afraid in this scene. The reason for this is not because he is a scaredy cat, but because he is a very enthusiastic person who enjoys life a lot, and the idea of dying and losing all the pleasures of life and connections with the people he made, is terrifying to him. Maybe you can use a similar reason for being fearful or come up with another reason that isn’t tied to being easily scared? Although I haven’t played this character yet, I hope everything goes according to my plan.

  • Marcie: Sadness – She gave into the feeling immediately, which is in complete opposition to her resisting until the very end in the Ch. 08 nightmare (and you can bet the ??? was super mean to her at the end because of it).
  • Maggie (B-mancing MC): Anger
  • Fiona (JR-mancing MC): Fear
  • Diana (J-mancing MC): Fear

I did the running one and it was against R. Apparently R is a multitalented queen/king!

Aelsa recently answered an ask about which characters feature in the different scenes when choosing the MC’s hobby/past affinity.

I didn’t answer the candy question earlier because I couldn’t remember getting any candy. Looking back through the thread, apparently it’s in the coroner’s office. Yeah, neither of my MCs was in the mood for candy at that point (or, more precisely, in that place). :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
