oh, well there is an easy way to make spoilers. Just hover over the words and click the last button on the right. And pick Blur Spoiler.

I agree it does not warrant a punch, and no, he’s not about to punch himself lol. He wants to punch her, but he also has the self-control and morality not to.

I don’t know…if my MC was bored out of their mind, they would punch themself to K.O. so they get out of a situation :grin:

I have more than one character who considered stabbing herself in the hand (one with a letter opener, another with a knife) to get out of a conversation she didn’t want to have.

Wait you can kiss the waiter?? :open_mouth: are they a RO?

Yep to both. Toward the very end, you can kiss the waiter (you don’t get control, that is made clear). You can flirt with him several times. It’s fun. XD

And OMG, let him write his name on your MC’s hand. Didn’t know anything like that could be hot, but there it is…

You mean the romance? Yeah, in the game you can start romancing the waiter. It adds a second line in the character relationships page, just like in the other ROs.

If you mean the kiss, it’s also in the game. Your MC has to initiate it, but it happens.

If you mean the hand writing… it’s written in a… I don’t know, it may just be my take, but it came off as hot. Plus, he marks you when he does it.

Oh! In this game, nothing has presented itself to cause that. Hypothetically, Naia might go that far, if she got too uncomfortable. Girl’s got abandonment issues she doesn’t want to face. Her harshest reaction in this game was to want to punch Reese in the nuts over the handshake.

For the other character I meant, it’s not from this game (it’s Dezh) and she, hypothetically, might actually do it. In the fic I’m writing, she was planning it out at one point, how to do it without permanently damaging nerves (she isn’t going to mutilate herself permanently, or cause damage that would reduce her skills, but she’d not above making herself bleed to avoid admitting a few things she’s not ready to admit!). And she flat out told the person she was talking to what she was planning, lol. They thought she was joking…

In the game or hypothetical?

I meant the “stab self to escape awkward convo” bit. Is there a conversation in the game one or more of your MCs would stab themselves to avoid, or are you saying that some of them would have no problem doing so to avoid an awkward conversation?

Yes, the waiter is a secret RO; you have to make certain choices to unlock more scenes with them.

We should probably use spoiler tags. @EvilChani I hard agree with you about the moment with the MC’s hand. My Mc looking back at the mark, or the faded mark, while lying in bed was also kind of hot.

SONUVA-!

Maybe I’m just being hyper-paranoid, but I’m now suspecting that Marjorie isn’t human, either. If you recall her name correctly, the name of the achievement is “Marjoram”, which is a herb, and one connected to Samhain*, at that! Now I’m thinking she’s the Sore Loser’s opponent in the game, which is why it specifically signals her when Woody gets torched!

*bonus points: Samhain is CELTIC, which fits right in with references of spriggans and selkies and kelpies and reverse-Excalibur!

I personally believe that Marjorie is entirely human, and that she’s the way she is because the GL/SL wrecked her mind and hinted it could do even worse if she provided more direct aid. Maybe her real name isn’t even Marjorie but the GL/SL made the town think she was always like this…
I’m not saying that there won’t or there shouldn’t be supernatural allies of the Fernweh 5 in later books that are at the very least against the GL/SL (the Diplomacy stat has to count for something), but I don’t think Marjorie is one of them.

@markamadeo

I really don’t think that M/W is human—in fact I think they are the GL/SL themselves.

I’m curious if you believe the waiter is human. Curious what everyone’s opinion is actually. Do the majority of people think human, magical human, or monster? I personally don’t have strong opinions for any of them, I could kinda see it being any. I tend to think the crazy lady isn’t entirely human though. she seemed to have just finished casting a spell or something in the final scene where she was talking about how winners are the sorest losers. Appears to be some form of clairvoyance. But obviously, I could be wrong. still suspect she won’t be a clear cut ally though. I think she has her own agenda that may or may not be aligned with the protagonists. Definitely helped take out the plant thing though

Okay, I’ve got a spoilery question about how the nicknames work.

Spoilers under here!

So this ask talks about the thresholds for getting a nickname…I’m curious how it picks when you meet more than one? For example here are the current MC’s stats:

And she got Lambkin. I was shooting for Sweetheart, and my Sincerity > Merciful.

Totally understand if it’s too messy to code it to get the highest stat check but I wanted to be sure it wasn’t a bug. Thanks!

I suspect the stat checks proceed in the order in which they are written rather than the highest stat. Since it checks Merciful before Sincerity, if you meet the Merciful threshold first, your nickname is set and the routine ends.

It’s an if/else statement, and it’s based on a list, shown below. Spoilers ahead, people…

*if (merciful <= 41)
“Hey yourself, Killer.”

*elseif (merciful >= 60)
“Hey yourself, Lambkin.”

*elseif (sincerity >= 66)
“Hey yourself, Sweetheart.”

*elseif (sincerity <= 34)
“Hey yourself, Smarty.”

*elseif (friendly >= 67)
“Hey yourself, Charmer.”

*elseif (friendly <= 35)
“Hey yourself, Frosty.”

*else
“Hey yourself, $!{name}.”

I just finished Book 1 and enjoyed reading it. My MC went with Reese first. I might consider creating another MC for James but I probably have to give myself time because I like how my MC and Reese inteact every much.

I also have to polished my main R’s route first. Deciding what kind of MC I’ll make her out to be once the save system are in place.

Thank you again for an enjoyable read @lacunafiction ! Looking forward to your futures works.

PS: I don’t like the waiter much because they’re so petty. They’re pissed off because my MC question how they know their favorite meal and when question why they’re giving them drinks. :sweat_smile:

Thanks! I only have it in the app so I can’t see the code. I’ll just rework this MC’s choices.

Now I’ll have to play that out—I suspected Arthur (one of my MCs) would be much more overtly cautious when alone with the waitress even if he didn’t voice his suspicions when he was served his favorite at the diner.

Anyone else made choices their MC wouldn’t make in this game?

In the first playthrough my mc was wary of the waiter and kind of creeped out by him. He stares at you when you get in the car for ages and the whole “knowing your order” thing is weird.

On my second I decided to be more receptive to him and managed to figure out his nickname of Mal.

Overall idk how to react tbh. Apparently he is a secret RO? but I’ve not tried that out yet lol

In order to get the ‘Ionized Neon’ achievement, I did have Marcie initiate the kiss with Mal in Ch. 12, even though her canon choice for that part is ‘Smile softly at them. “I still don’t know your name.”’ (the softness of that exchange gets me right in my feelings every time). :heart: Other than that for my first playthrough, I didn’t have to deviate from her set choices. :smile: (Although, before I got a better understanding of her character, she was a lot more cautious and optimistic in her earlier playthroughs than she is now.)

Unless you mean in general, then, definitely. For example, in Ch. 06, if someone came knocking on my bedroom door when I was trying to get to sleep, I’d probably go with the dramatically grumpy ‘I have never once known peace.’ as opposed to the more pleasant response of answering the door with a smile, haha.
