Oh, I meant one that has the benefits to the cores over the crystals. Was hoping to build sustainable floating islands without killing a crap ton of dragons.
I suppose we could just target the ones who commit terrible crimes.

Oh, It’s possible. A lot of Aurelian knowledge was lost after the last battle, so they might have been researching alternatives before everything fell apart. If that’s the case, maybe the dwarves could help uncover some of that lost research hidden in the ruins.
Vlorora might eventually find a way to improve crystal usage—or perhaps someone else will.
At this point in the story, there isn’t a viable alternative to magic crystals if you want to avoid the dragon cores, but I plan for the narrative to span several years. During that time, new discoveries could happen, depending on where the MC chooses to focus their resources.
I’m not planning to keep this limited strictly to dragon cores, so if people wants to pursue research in that direction, I see no reason not to make it a valid path.
Also, would we need new cores to raise up the islands again or could there be ones intact still?
That’s a good question, perhaps the dwarves of Obrolk hold the answer…
Also given we need votes for both floating islands and the bigger ships, I wonder if it would be more practical to build weapons platforms on the floating cities and have them fly to the battlefield.
It’s not impossible—during the last battle, the Aurelians did exactly that. The floating islands were originally spread across different regions, but for the final confrontation, they gathered them all around the location where they planned to lure Azgor.
That said, the islands are extremely slow to move and require a massive amount of magic. And since they were full-fledged cities, the Aurelians usually avoided bringing them into combat zones to keep civilians out of harm’s way.
I love that you have a whole lore document that your slowly showing us. Will we meet other dragons and maybe ally with them? and, will we get more RO other then the current 3?
I understand why you decided to decrease Azgor’s size (I believe that he should be smaller as well). That aside, Az. was able to modify the body of the player character (I pray I didn’t read the text wrong) so it could be possible for him to adjust his size when he wants. His body, as shown in the first image can be thought of as his true self. A form that is only used when he wants to annihilate something (as done with the Aurelians). While the smaller version would be the form that he utilizes to conserve strength/energy.
Question: I remember a post of yours about this story being a table top game set in the past. Was Azgor the main villain in that setting or one of the hero’s?
Great story by the way (wanted to say this in March)!
Hey! I’m really glad you’re enjoying it! I’ve been working hard to find the right balance between revealing lore and avoiding heavy exposition dumps, so it’s great to hear that it’s working so far—there’s still a lot more to uncover, haha.
And yes, there will be more romance options! The planned ones are: Arael, Zatus, Ruby, Walls, Ecbert, Theresa, Lyra, and Cassiel. Each relationship will develop at its own pace, though, so some will take longer than others.
You didn’t read it wrong, haha—Azgor really can alter and reshape the MC’s body to make it more like his own. It’s the same principle the MC and the other experiments use to manifest his scales, claws, and other features.
Having Azgor be able to make himself smaller could work too, but I think making him that massive was a bit over the top, haha. With the updated measurements I posted, he should still be more than big enough to cause all the destruction he did.
As for the TTRPG, it was originally going to be set about 300 years before the events of The Dragon’s Covenant. Azgor was meant to be the final boss, with the players uniting the nations and gathering artifacts and allies to try to bring him down (or even try to join him if they wanted to, lol). Sadly, it never got past the planning stages due to some conflicts between the players.
And thank you! I’m really glad you liked it!
Lmao Azgor is funny asf lol
I do find it pretty interesting that enough time has passed for a lot of history to be lost to most races about the Empire and meanwhile a ton of the Aurelians were literally there when it happened. It’s surprisingly rare for fantasy to portray long lifespans like that where most of the longer-lived races actually remember all the past.
It’d be the funniest thing if Vlorora rediscovered air ships because one Aurelian was like “what do you MEAN you don’t remember how to build the flying ships? I did that for 120 years of my life! It’s easy!”
They’re not as good because 120 isn’t actually that long for them so he’s a bit of an amateur.
Will the polycules be V-Poly or Triad Poly?
That’s a good question. The poly routes are the least planned out at the moment, so take what I say with a grain of salt, its all subject to change, haha.
For now, I’m leaning more toward a V-poly structure. However, I’ve been considering the idea of including small extra chapters where the two ROs interact with each other without the MC nearby, to help flesh out their dynamic. The nature of that relationship will vary depending on the characters, but I don’t think it’ll be romantic between the two of them.
I mentioned before that I’d base the poly options based on requests, and so far, the only combinations people have asked for are Arael/Ruby and Arael/Lyra, if I remember correctly. I don’t plan on doing too many of them, and they do need to make narrative sense to me. But by the way, if anyone has a pairing in mind feel free to suggest it!
I hope for the triad (cant blame guy for wanting to walk in and see his beautiful angel wife and beautiful dragon wife go at it. Getting the appetizers befere the main course walks in. Warming up before the face the big bad dragon boss) but im cool with the V . Can’t wait to get my own kingdom
I would like a triad as well. The rest is a tad too much information.
V making more sense for the characters tbh.
Really? I think Lyra and Arael have some chemistry.
Yeah, I think Lyra and Arael make the most sense for a poly romance.
I do think Arael gets some moments with Ruby when you save her that could lend themselves to either friendship or romance.
Wonder how the Orc hierarchy works. Can we challenge clan leaders via combat for rulership?
