Do certain jobs currently have more interactions than others or have you done your best to make them all equal? I’m loving the new and improved game so far by the way!

Good question!

I tried my best to make sure they’re all balanced in frequency, but since we’re only 4 chapters in, some careers will still be more prominent than others.
For example, before Chapter 4, many of the “performance-oriented” careers were waiting for their moment to shine, and it’ll be the same for others going forward.

But even so, in the current version, you’re guaranteed to have unique interactions and exclusive content for all of them.

Thank you for reading! Extremely appreciated

So, question regarding Peisinoe: who did you take inspiration from for them? I’m seeing a mix of Chopin (mentally unstable) and Chaikovsky (also a tragic character in history), but I’m curious who the main inspiration(s) is!

What a stellar question omg!!! honestly the Chopin and Tchaikovsky read is very valid.

Visually, Peisinoe owes everything to Diva Plavalaguna from The Fifth Element (and the Asari from Mass Effect that were also inspired by her), with a heavy stroke of old jazz and modern glam rock artists, maybe with a sprinkle of Hedwig as well.

The thematic inspiration is more contemporary and came after obsessing over “Is That All There Is?” by Peggy Lee: the disillusioned artist, talking instead of singing, now way past the “burnt out” phase.

In life, they used to be like Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, this whole lineage of artists who got swallowed alive by their own fame. People who were extraordinary and were rewarded with a contract before they were old enough to understand what they were signing away. The Drama of the Gifted Child and all that jazz. After death, that trauma turned into existentialism bordering on nihilism, a search to find meaning in their art and their true self again.

But the biggest inspiration of all comes from the movie Kiki’s Delivery Service, a movie that is essentially about artistic burnout and the search for meaning in it, the fact that isolation is, in contrast to the popular “tortured artist” trope, the enemy of inspiration and meaning. It helped me realize a lot, and I hope Peisi will learn the same lesson one day

That’s it! Pretty elaborate answer but this question really deserved it!

Just got to the first night and decided to have a little talk with a patron. And what a talk it was.

I absolutely love whatever the heck was going on with Tomas. The way he welcomed us, the way he’s just sketching, the fact he’s sketching out He Without Name in perfect detail!!! That whole encounter with the old man was absolutely divine - maybe literally??? I don’t know if Tomas is a god or something else, but there’s was something enthralling about that whole conversation. And that tease of what the name of He Without Name might be!!! Oh man, I feel like I got the lucky draw of the patrons here. I’m sure all the others are fascinating characters, but Tomas is definitely gonna stand out as something special for a long time. Mundane magnificance remains my favorite kind.

Fuck. I just got to the section where we receive the special item from the bar, and they are all so good. I WANT THEM ALL! I NEED THEM ALL… Is there any itsy-bitsy chance we could have a future god mode where the MC is showered in gifts from the bar? It would make my inner raven quite happy, precious…. yes, very happy.

Completely new version, time to go tell those incompetent scammer fuckers of the Pyryphlegethon to go fuck themselves again until they can come up with a scam that is not insultingly transparent.
Trying to scam me is one thing, but trying to do it with a ploy this amateurish is just calling me stupid and it will not be tolerated.

Also:

Chapter 1

Two groans close together.

The game takes a long time to process when you pick Death’s appearance. I wonder what that’s about?

“nfone”

Tap, tap, tapping on my window pane
Leaving upon it its beak’s stain
Then it crapped all over my floor
The raven’s a bastard, and nothing more.

  • an excerpt from The Other Raven, by Not Edgar Alan Poe

Hot take. Two sequels, two remakes, three Oscar nominations, widely lauded classic.

I thought they called you Raven. Anyway, I’m being rude. Hi, tactless, I’m Dad.

“eternity is a long time to rest”, maybe? It feels like you were debating in which of two ways to write this sentence and mushed the two together instead of picking.

Well, there are… alternatives:

Should be “from the same realm”

Break time!

Perhaps. Perhaps my MC was acting in a particular way that would have made his peers dubious of his intentions towards his fellow passengers, leading to his forcible removal from the vessel.

Thanks for considering the “god mode”. In my head canon, my MC is a total showboat with the artefacts, keeping the mask on to hide his burn scars, leading to him looking like the phantom of the Opera lol, stopping time to aura farm and startle his guests a bit (e.g I like to imagine him stopping everything in time the minute Yaga points him out to Morgana except him and Morgana like he’s Bill Cipher), shocking people by knowing their names already with the gogglesss, etc.

Can I just say that I love the new patrons? The vampire lady and astronaut were such interesting characters to deal with. Not only was it fun for my MC to meet other humans from a different universe, but I was banging the screen when she mentioned Babylon, wanting to say, “Hey, that was a place where I was from and may or may not be connected with hell or at least a metaphor for it.” Not finished yet, but looking forward to meeting more people and flirting with them.

Also, you already have me theorising. Death not remembering anything until after Adamot disappeared, and life and death being different sides of the same coin… Well, let’s just say I have some ideas that may eventually be proven right or very, very wrong.

Oh, you’ll LOVE the new options for that encounter :ogre:

Weird, maybe a bug in CoGDemos? It’s just when the game moves to a new CS scene :open_mouth:

This is a fucking masterpiece, I’m actually dying. The Raven would rebuke you, then praise you.

Well, maybe unpopular to the original film crew, then.

This is exactly what happened, probably! Lmao

Death would LOVE DnD, actually. And will be so bad at it

Thank you as usual for the rigorous work, so fun to see you again! <3

Is their name “red” by any chance?

I should add this cheat, then add a representative from Da’at coming to investigate your MC’s overuse of magical artifacts.

Happy you enjoyed them! Certain careers can actually fact-check Laura about Babylon (Archaeologist, Writer, Teacher), but maybe I should add a general “That’s a name from Earth” without the full explanation. Hope you kissed both of them! And love your theories :eyes:
