I have a question about our abilities. I chose to become a strategist and to pump XP into meditation (thinking that would increase those skills). However, I am in the middle of Chapter 5 and other than a couple instances of “sensing lies/truth,” I have never been able to use any of my 3 abilities. I’m a “master of meditation” yet not once have I had even 1/2 of my master’s ability to question people. I feel like I wasted opportunities to raise other stats. Is this working as intended?
ETA: Thought I’d include this with my question rather than make two posts. I really appreciate the end-of-chapter saves. The older I get, I find I have less time to play games. That often means either a) not replaying a COG even though I didn’t get the outcome I desired or b) not trying additional routes due to lack of time. The end-or-chapter save lets me do this. I wish more COG games would incorporate saves. I know, I know. There’re the “never save” and “want save” groups. Just wanted to explain why, in my case, having a save is super helpful. I thought end-of-chapter save choice was a nice compromise.
I’m a huge fan of Chinese period dramas (both historical and Wuxia/fantasy based) so had a lot of fun with Tale of Two Cranes. I kept asking myself, “What would Minglan do?”
Somehow my sect hates me. Don’t know what I did unless it was simply to support LB as emperor. Also not sure how to get them back to like me. Is there any way to get LB to loosen restrictions on the Yong Shi?
Lastly, I know the game is released, so there won’t be any changes. But I was infuriated that LB flat-out murdered my dad (Han Xin) despite everything I did. (I realize I failed some of the investigations and am okay with that. I’m not personally infuriated. My character was.) I wish there was a choice for your character to say, “Y’know what? I’ve suported your lazy, paranoid, treacherous hide for all these years, but this? This?!! I draw the line at you murdering my family.” Essentially, I wish I could go Inigo Montoya on him! Anyway, good job on making me feel for my character so much! LB’s actions definitely made me decide to double down on taking over. I’ll still redo the chapter because I’d rather MC’s dad lives.
One of the very few games I had the opportunity to play that made me feel part of its universe by its writing and its thought-out lore, even though I’m not knowledgeable at all about asian history. Reset the password of my old account just to comment here.
I think there’s so many powers and societal aspects of the Yong Shi that haven’t been elaborated upon in this game because of its length and the fact the MC’s powers never fully developped. Would love a second game in that same universe with or without relation to Tales of Two Cranes.
When I’m competing to become emperor I got emperor support and empress support, but when I tried to get the last 3 from the courts or army when I complete the second quest to get eithers support I immediately get pulled into the scene were the emperor chose their heir and I’m unable to become emperor, I get to be chancellor at best and Imperial advisor with Empress support
Be careful with your timeslots, you need to utilize three of them to get full emperor support, one to get Empress support, and three to get either court or army support
One Empress support, and then getting married gives you the second. It’s kind of confusing because getting married both counts for Empress support and is mandatory to play the Emperor game at all.
The game covered everything about the powers, life and struggle of a yong shi, heck even at the start of the game it reveals the mc power from childhood to adulthood and how yong shi have to leave they family in order to be raised for the machinations of the army and the emperor and also how this were not they original purpose but in one of the endings they can return to they ancestral duty if mc combines the mortal world with the spirits and of course mc power never develope due to chang ming interference when they were in they teens but that is just the beauty of it, chang ming handicapping the mc and killing some of the people they know dearly or considered useful made the mc journey all the more difficult but rewarding at the end, the only problem the game got that I know, is that the mc can not be evil at most they can be a traitor for turning on the person they chose for the throne by bringing back a relative of the emperor that ruined the nation back into power while also sabotaging Xiang yu and Liu bang efforts for the throne in the war or using the rebellion for they own goals and siding with Chang ming
There seems to be a bug with getting Liu Yuan to be the heir. I followed the guide, which said to do 2 Emperor support tasks, 2 court tasks, 3 army tasks, and 1 Empress task, but I still can’t get Liu Yuan as heir.
I started playing again since the succesion bug is gone (yay) but i noticed that there’s new bug instead. For some reason while doing the activites and trying to get support, I don’t get the love interest scene where i get the option to be with them, marry them, have kids etc.
After doing four activites you should get that scene automatically under certain conditions (which i checked) so… Does anyone have the same issue?
I find a mistake in a conversation when you captured the spy. I played a sage and got slashed in the neck, then master and CM came to the rescue and she ordered me to heal myself and it said there’s no scar left. But when I looked in the stats page under personal info it still said I have one major scar and it is on the <>, which is left blank. I think it should be no scar instead.
@KonFox@Aislin@witchygal_2703 It would be best to email these to support (at) choiceofgames (dot) com as they will then definitely be seen - if you have screenshots please include them in your email.
Not sure if this has been reported, but I feel that this may be a bug:
2 of the choices below give -10% to Altruistic, was it meant to only be 1 of them?
*fake_choice #It was the most exciting thing I’ve ever done! I helped this man in a way few could.
*set Altruistic %-10
*set Honorable %+10 #Others could’ve helped the man better than I and therefore could have saved me the effort.
*set Altruistic %-10
*set Honorable %-10 #I don’t have any strong feelings about today. All I know is that I’m tired and I want to go to bed.
*set Stern %+20
@twinklewishe@KonFox@Aislin@witchygal_2703@yanphi I submitted an updated version to COG today so hopefully it’ll get pushed through early next week. Bugs like being locked out of the romances (among others) should be fixed once it rolls out.
@Annaranthe Is there a certain task that you’re finding difficult? To get your emperor on the throne you’ll need to recruit Han Xin (without your master’s help), capture the spy, infiltrate the enemy camp, and at the final battle between Liu Bang and Xiang Yu make sure your main camp is protected (you go or Han Xin goes back to defend it OR if you have the last choice that says you’re confidant in what you’ve done then you should be okay).
Hello, I played the game when it first came out I remember that I was the emperor and was in an arranged marriage with some noble girl I had kids with and I got to the end of the game and I died in the final fight and I think the world was messed up and I stopped playing but now I want to replay it because it was an amazing game so how do I get it to where I’m alive and my empire thrives. I was a strategist with high fighting and meditation as my. Any help or guides like there are to become emperor. Will be greatly appreciated
