Love the series and would totally die for it, but I absolutely agree with your opinions. It’s pain filled if you’re self-inserting or just empathetic with your characters. And Chris is the most out of pocket and bitter best friend I have ever seen in one of these books lol. Like the dude is just an absolute mess and can’t be compassionate for like three seconds, and even has the balls to blame you for your uncle (potentially) getting killed during his tantrums iirc . PSA: if you flirt with him, Rahim and Zillah through 1 & 2 I always feel like my MC gets their vengeance by putting the guy through the ringer lmao.
But yeah, Superstition is very MC-hater-central for the poor thing. Not to mention the twist in Book 3!!! My little dude can’t catch a break with their allies, enemies or even random passers-by. The author is throwing L after L their way, and all they can do is lie there and take it.
