SPLIT: the Mortal Wound (WIP) UPDATE CHAPTER 3 p3 [245 K words total] - mafia, romance, fantasy

Thanks for reporting the bugs!

As for the date – Sieun always suggests it to every player. :grinning_face:How it turns out depends on the MC’s stats, but also on the choices made during it. The MC can straight up turn it down if they’re not interested, or go along anyway and decide halfway through that it’s just not their thing.

This content is also available for players who aren’t romancing Sieun, just in a more limited way.

This was good. Been awhile since ive seen a demo this long, and while there are grammar mistakes and the like it was pretty decent, my ONLY gripe is that you cant be less dominant in some of the romance portions, while they were good and this is just personal preference, the option would have been nice to let the partner take the more dom role

Thank you. We’ll definitely revisit the grammar mistakes at some point. :slightly_smiling_face:

The romance with Seb is definitely a slow-burn, but the date will mark a turning point. Seb is first and foremost MC’s friend, and that’s a boundary he finds hard to cross—but the topic of a kiss will definitely come up.

Almost feels like I’m the only one curious what the fishing “date” with Mark is going to be like, especially with the switcheroo concerns with Paul. Pretty surprised Mark brought it up after our mutual smackdown, but my MC wasn’t just going to take it. He might always be the “talk first, walk away if that fails" type more than the “you’re catching hands!” type, but Mark did hit first, and was owed the reminder that he can’t just bully the MC into obedience. (My MC: We’ll be equals, or nothing, ya geezer. )

On the note of more subtle, or borderline timid flirt options, I agree about the lack of variety for MC to pick from. Being a gangster does not mean the MC has to share the same level of “class” as Sergei when approaching an RO, or fling. I see the semi-set personality, and have no conflicts with it other than the flirting. It does stretch a page to offer more choices, sometimes, but also provides a bit more RP flexibility, even as mere flavor text.

We do have some slightly shy options with Mark sometimes, but I think people are probably more interested in the other ROs when they comment on it.

Feedback is all this is, and as with anything, author’s can take, or leave it at their own convenience. I’ll just be sitting in my very empty “Mark as main RO” club assigned seating ‘til the next update.

Thank you.

We’ll keep that in mind moving on and when revisiting what’s already there. And feedback is always appreciated

Gosh. I was on the edge of my seat with this update. All I can say is poor Becka, I really warmed up to her and now I want to free all of those girls. The stakes are real in this game and it’s both good and bad for me haha. It can sometimes be cathartic to play the bad guy but all the side characters here make it impossible for me to play as anything but compassionate. They’re so human.

I’m torn between reporting the whole shit to Ernest and participating in it just to save the girl. Mark is a terrible human being which makes me automatically want to play the compassionate.

Btw. fishing sucked! We didn’t even catch anything. It was to be expected that Mark wouldn’t just suggest a nice way to spend some free time. It was just a cover

I must kind of disagree. The MC who likes fishing did catch a panfish! Could even decide its fate. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was hoping we could be grumpy about all this fishing and still catch a fish. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve got a progress halting bug on Sieun’s, well, adventure:

Every choice eventually ends with this error.

Sieun chapter also has quite a bit of errant punctuation and orphaned parentheses.

Also too, how do I even get to Mark part? There’s a “that’s the end for now” message if I ditch Sieun to avoid the bug.

I was torn too! But I have an mc for an each RO and they all made different choices so I got to see all the different endings. It’s really nice when no choice is just obviously the “best” one because it lets you roleplay and make the choice your character truly would, consequences and all.

Guide below for anyone struggling with the Mark stuff  luckily my Mark-mancer happens to be super paranoid and unhinged so I had a good first run but I imagine only specific MCs will ever trigger this path (which makes complete sense considering what it entails…). In my testing (thank you to cogdemos for the back button) I realized you do have to make pretty specific choices.

These choices take place once you hit the lake house.

  1. When MC is questioning whether Mark owns a lake house, you can choose “what else don’t you know about him” or “this development gives you the creeps”.
  2. Ask if he planned the corpse first or the fishing trip.
  3. Call him batshit crazy or creepy.
  4. When thinking about Mark, you can have mc either be lured in by his darkness, think he’s wicked and love it, or that he gives them the creeps.
  5. Do the threesome with Becka and call him a psychopath.
  6. After the threesome, ask if it changed anything between you, then tell him “I know who you are.”
  7. Finally, for the “unmasked” version of the ending, let him kill Becka and look away or stop him by touching his wrist.

I’m not sure if it’s a bug but when skipping to chapter 3 and recreating your character no matter if you choose Maybe or I hope so about your interest in Mark it will still say in the stats you’re not interested in him.

And I wonder if it’s why even with so many tests some of his text stay grey out. (And yes I tried to follow the advices on tumblr but it’s still grey.)

PS : And nop, I wanted to save the girl until she was all on Mark. I’ll still choose the “put your hand on his” but that’s because we can touch him and influence him.

I posted a guide above! Hopefully it’ll be helpful to people that tried but couldn’t figure it out.
