I just don’t get what I’m suppose to say. Even if I’m nice to her she fucking steam rolls me. What dialogue does she like? Do I gotta be a dick back at her? Lol
What cabin are you talking about? I got like 15 respect with her and maybe 10 fondness before my first kill, and then she chewed me out for seemingly trying to steal her man (I was) and I got all zeroes again. I fear how the next flashbacks are gonna play out (and whether or not she tries to kill me/dies refusing my help in the future-in-the-past)…
I think they mean the bandit cave, near the lake (the end of the latest flashback).
I… ended up with MUCH higher scores with her than those (they got a big bump at the cave after the fight), so I presume it’s working out for me.
Well, I did choose to have a crush on Callum and that I hated Charlotte at the beginning… I tried to be nice/show her that I’m competent enough after the tragedy, considering that now it’s us vs the world and petty squabbles don’t matter in survival mode, but she apparently doesn’t think so. Oh well.
At this stage, Charlotte sees any actual niceness from the MC as sycophancy more than genuine thought, so she’s not too keen on becoming fond of the MC.
I would also add, just in general, that Charlotte is not gonna like someone who romances her bf right under her nose . Moreover, if you picked any other Callum romance option aside from the one that says “I couldn’t be with Callum in the end” she’ll default to hating you at the end of this last memoriam.
Getting through to Charlie appears to be a case of mostly going “you’re not better than me for being nobleborn, the only reason nobles are more skilled than peasants is because they have a bunch of advantages handed to them for free, and here’s me explaining it and why it to you in detail”.
She needs to respect you in order to like you basically. There are points in the relationship checks with her that if you don’t meet a certain % respect you will loose affection instead of gaining. It’s very interesting.
Funnily enough this is indeed one of the +2 respect dialogues with her lol you just gotta navigate that conversation right and tell her in a less aggressive way.
I want to like charlotte but it’s off putting for my pc to act different than how I want him to be so that she stops hating my pc for existing. The respect and fondness needed to have her tolerate us is high. Callum is a bit of an ass, but I picked him as a rival, so it fits. Is charlotte an important character in our past?
Yeah, I made my bed and I’m gonna lie in it. It just looks a bit weird to me that love life isn’t lower on the priority list when life and death are constantly on the line. But then again, I’m aro and they’re teens.
I think it makes sense in a way. She just lost her mother and her life that was “perfect” got ruined there, plus she almost died. I think it’s less about putting romance above survival and more that Callum was, at the end of the day, the last thing she had from her old life. Also makes sense why they wouldn’t break up even if they’re shit for each other if you consider it like that.
Basically, be understanding but don’t be a suck up. Respect seems more important than Fondness for now, so try to show competence without gloating or coming off as too nice.
Don’t know how you got 10 Fondness, the highest I got was 7 with 21 in Respect.
Charlotte doesn’t believe that her hatred of the MC will interfere with her ability to prioritize survival when the proverbial chips are down.
Because of her upbringing, Charlotte is used to suppressing her feelings to do her perceived duty, so to her sensibilities, getting along is not an important part of fighting by someone else’s side—when the battle’s on, you all suck it up, and then when the battle’s over, she’s free to go back to hating you. Camaraderie is not really a concept that exists in her mind.
Of course, as you’ve seen, Charlotte’s judgement when it comes to relationships is pretty poor, so it’s up to you whether or not you believe she’s actually capable of walking the walk there.
Charlotte is an important character in the story, but I would say that having a positive relationship with her is only as important to the story as it is to your MC.
If it doesn’t feel natural for them to try, I wouldn’t attempt to force it. The thresholds are high for a reason—it takes a particular kind of attitude to overcome Charlotte’s biases, and it’s not supposed to be for everyone. If anything, I see the routes where Charlotte continues to isolate herself as her “default” path, and the route where she comes around to the MC as an exception to that rule.
Personally, I’m of the opinion that Charlotte will have a compelling storyline whether or not she and the MC see eye to eye.
Evidenced by the fact that, as soon as her relationship with Callum gets any external stresser, those two are at each other’s throats so fast they break the sound barrier.
I actually got the highest relationship scores with both Callum and Charlotte on the “mutual hatred” start.
Just softened up a bit after Callum saved my ass and Charlotte saved my father.
Both of them are people who like it when you stand your ground. Callum being more open to dickish behavior, and Charlotte liking it more when the PC acts “noble”.
Ohh Godd I love the update, got job tom but staying up late for dis is worth it
Ps: I can’t wait to meet Merrow, INEEDTO MEETMERROWWWWW🫣
In her defense, she’s a sheltered rich girl, and Callum is Callum.
I think there’s an important addendum here in that she’s a sheltered rich girl with a keen mind for tactics that will immediately take a dagger from her dead mother’s chest and stab a member of the fascist political police in the neck. Several times.
Family is a different matter altogether. And I personally like her blind faith in family; I can parallel it with my own MC and Callum (despite his betrayal).
Charlie comes up to you and whispers: “Do you want to alphabetise bookshelves together?”
