This was SO GOOD! I loved the concept, I loved your writing, I loved the characters - all of it. I both can’t wait to read the next part and totally dreading it, because I already know I’ll cry
This is great. I can tell you put a lot of love and energy into your characters - it shows. There’s just something so organic about how you write them and it makes me want to know more about them. I’m intrigued by the world you’ve built here as well. I’m looking forward to the next update!
This was a really interesting read! I’m looking forward to seeing what actually happened in the village, once the next update is released!
Thanks to all the new readers! I am also looking forward to the next update in anticipation of making lucypher cry.
Speaking of the next update, I apparently just crossed the 100,000 word mark!!! …Which means I’ve only written about 3000 words since the last update. Oops.
I think production will speed up in the coming days/weeks, though. Expect an update sometime in May, probably.
I absolutely love this WIP! Man, the concept is so refreshing, and the writing is so good. And not to mention the characters that we have seen. I’m so in love with all of them I also really like that you can choose what Callum was for you, and how that changes and impacts some of the scenarios.
Honestly? Brilliant WIP and brilliant writing. I’m excited to see more of it!
Thanks!
This is…bizarre. It appears that you managed to fail all three skill checks, which shouldn’t be possible. Was this a fresh playthrough or did you load an old save? If it’s the latter, it’s possible that your stats got messed up from the change to split past and present variables.
Okay, I really like this. With the whole past plot and just… everything happening in the present. Callum is…Well, I have mixed feelings. Is it possible to find out why he betrayed the MC?
Anyway, I can’t wait to see more.
Callum’s motives aren’t that hidden away, though I’m sure we don’t actually have the ‘full story’ there yet. Try getting his respect to 0 at least once, and he’ll tell you how he really feels.
Ohhh that’s why. Thanks. I might have to do that
So, I don’t know how this escaped my attention, but I just read this without zero idea of anything besides what’s listed in the initial post.
And my goodness, was that one of the best decisions I’ve made. Especially with your writing, it’s so vivid and descriptive
First of all the premise. It’s such a refresher and the difference between the two time periods makes both really stand out.
And then the characters!! Each one feels so unique and real, even the minor characters. They all have their own voice and it’s absolutely lovely. It makes me want to get to know them more and see more of them.
I definitely do have to say my favorite part of this so far is the prologue where you meet Callum at the end of it after everything. Kinda hoping Callum’s the secret RO lol. (Also the current end of the current era where it shows things are also serious business there as well)
All in all, your work is already such a great read that I can’t wait to see where it goes!
Hey, progress update—the next update is almost complete. The current word count is hovering at “a lot, but not as much as the last one”, which seems about right to me. Currently gunning for release on the 10th.
In other news, the poll is now closed.
Got a nice turnout this time, and the results are, interestingly, way more balanced than pretty much any other poll I’ve done so far! Second life and eternal death are the frontrunners by a not-insignificant margin (which isn’t too surprising), but after that, the remaining options are almost dead even.
Part of me was concerned that not many people would pick the “just helping people” option (because it’s less inherently interesting) and/or the “arcane knowledge” option (because it’s kind of vague), but actually, the one that ended up in last place was time travel! This actually doesn’t surprise me too much in retrospect—my guess is that people are (already) starting to get attached to the present-day characters and storylines, and don’t want to risk temporally messing with their existence, though if anybody has more interesting/nuanced insight into why their character isn’t keen on time travel, feel free to leave a comment about it!
I’m also really curious to see if all the people hoping for death will stick by that by the end of the game—it absolutely makes sense from an in-universe roleplaying perspective, but I wonder how many players actually plan to commit to that path all the way. I guess we’ll see in 800+ years, when I finally finish this game and get around to posting the inevitable “which ending did you get” poll!
My character is not interested in time travel because he has seen how little anything he did mattered. He doesn’t really see how going through it a second time (even if he did everything differently) would change things in the long run.
“the drama of a sword fight with your ex at sunset is just such good shit”
felt that
wait a sec repeat u said charlotte was the secret RO???
oh boy
Played through the WIP for the first time and GOD was it good. I loved it! What the hell! You’ve got me stamping my feet, creator! Your end note was hilarious and staved off my feelings of frustration for the end. Your world-building was fantastic, to say the least. Also, I’m really glad you went into MC’s background with Callum, allowed for the story to be so fleshed out on that end. It situated the past/present well, and he’s a little fucking shit, but I liked him (well, this ) and wondered about him. He was consistent with his manipulative character, even when MC and he were young. My attachment is probably problematic at this point but honestly I just wish he’s been living the ghost life or reincarnated or somewhere in the present just so MC can settle things (i.e. catch these translucent hands, you know what I mean???). Closure and all that.
I really enjoyed the way you brought in MC’s chosen characteristics/traits through the lens of his parents. That was a good touch. Made gameplay all the more worth it. Valerie is cool; she keeps things going. You utilized her rambling tendency well; world-building baby!!! The explanation sequences was cool. I look forward to being partners (in crime? amateur detective-ing?) with her.
Thanks for sharing! I’m glad you took a leap. Gladder to have seen it.
Pretty sure they were just joking, they’ve so said other characters are the secret RO.
Thanks!
It was indeed a joke. The secret RO, as everyone well knows by now, is actually Jacqueline.
In other news, the update is still on track for release tomorrow (the 10th), so unless something really disastrous happens, you can expect more content within 24 hours. I hope you all like watching characters die!
I’m ready for the angst, bring it on.
But yeah basically, super excited for the update hehe
A team Edward i take it?
yea me too
