It might be alluded to in passing once or twice, but that’s really the only flashback to before the event. In post-event flashbacks, as well as the unfolding present narrative, you’ll be treated as the gender you chose.
No, the first question is what body shape your character has now, which may or may not match their actual gender identity.
For androids, changing their body is about as complicated as it would be for you or me to get a haircut, so their anatomy isn’t really integral to their identity the way it is for most humans. An android with a feminine identity would probably prefer a female-type body most of the time (and you can certainly choose to keep your character’s anatomy the same all the way through the story), but canonically your character has changed their body type many times over the centuries, while their gender identity has remained the same.
Okay, I finally understand now where I misinterpreted things. English not being my first language can be blamed for that… or I just wasn’t paying enough attention. I suppose that makes my complaint invalid. Thanks for clearing this up for me.
By my count, Dying on Rhea, Captured after Dusk, Giving in to Dusk, Exile alone, Exile with the trio, living on Saturn Nine, leaving Saturn nine with the group, and being with Hammond, so 8. There’s some variation within those endings but those are the big ones.
There is also the “Saturn Three” ending where you lose your entire group, save for Sheila and Manfred, and the three of you just sit there and awkwardly wonder where it all went wrong. I suppose it counts as “living on Saturn Nine” but it’s a separate ending code-wise and the tone is very different.
I actually am writing more. I’ve already began writing another IF set in the same universe, and even posted a demo a while back. You might consider checking it out.
Good evening I recently completed my playthrough for this interactive story, and I believe it is a pretty cool story. I liked it. It reminds me of Heroes Rise from ChoiceOfGames, and also reminds me of Mass Effect videogame.
Mass Effect → because the story has space travel, distant locations, diverse companions and mysterious robots
Heroes Rise → because of the curious excitement I felt when I was reading the first book upon its release back in year 2012: cannot wait to find out what happens next, gotta keep reading and reach next chapter. And now I got to experience the same exciting feeling again as I was reading Saturnine
Okay, the final update should be out now. I fixed some issues and typos, so I’ll tend to my other project and trust that Saturnine is in good shape now.
Those elements are almost omnipresent in sci-fi, but Mass Effect was indeed a source of inspiration for me. The whole “three missions you can complete in any order” setup only exist because I played ME1 before I started writing my own game.
I recall feeling a similar way when I read that series, over a decade ago. Those were the times…
Wow, this is the first game where I wanted to be bald in order to make a Vision-like character…and I couldn’t do it. This game has everything, except for bald representation.
Damn. The hair color choice was a last-minute addition, so I didn’t get any feedback on it. If I had, perhaps I’d think of a way for the robot MC to get a haircut and represent the bald demographic.
