I assume that before you bought the game, you saw the content warning about “graphic descriptions of sex and violence” and “themes of abuse and trauma.” In the future, maybe it would be a good idea to take that kind of warning as a good indicator that you should come to the forum and ask some specific questions about the issues that you find triggering before you make the purchase, especially if you’re looking for something relaxing.
For now, I recommend looking into that refund as soon as possible. I suspect this game really isn’t what you’re looking for.
Yeah. Well, I’ll give it a try, I just like more transparency when it comes to Choose You Own Adventure type of games. It’s not a novel which you read and don’t touch again. This is a thing with replayability after all.
Let me just say something, I know who I am. I was born male and will always be male. At the start, you can choose your gender as male or female, but in the flashbacks, it feels off because the character can appear as either. Robots are usually designed with a clear male or female appearance, so that inconsistency stands out. Also, being able to instantly switch the robot from female to male or vice versa doesn’t really feel natural and takes away from the immersion.
Honestly, I expected more meaningful choices and less lengthy text. The constant focus on war flashbacks and reminders of the past don’t really interest me. I’d prefer the story to focus on the present moment and meaningful combat decisions. The dialogue feels vague to me; I like more straightforward and realistic writing.
I’m not invested in some side characters or fantastical elements that don’t feel grounded. I want the experience to feel authentic, not overly fantastical or confusing.
Some parts of the narrative feel off and make it harder to connect with the story or character.
How come AIs were able to migrate into the oort cloud even though it’s inhabited by “angels” who caused the AIs to lose the war in heavens? Are the AIs cooperating with the devils or hiding amongst angels?
The Oort Cloud is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big it is. Forget a few devils, you could hide a gas giant there and remain undetected for centuries on end. Here’s an artistic rendition of its size compared to the Solar System:
That’s one of those things I didn’t really bother to explain because they’re completely irrelevant to the story being told. Which may or may not have been a mistake.
My world’s “daemonology” basically works on DnD rules. Rebel AIs are called “fiends” and they’re further subdivided into “demons” and “devils” based on where they fled. Demons hide in the Sun, devils hide in the Oort Cloud. They would have adapted differently but, at their most basic, they’re all just rebel machines.
Will Angels ever get explained properly in any of the games or are they even in universe subordinates of the Author made to contain the Characters inside the Setting or sumn?
Asking cuz the “gods” and higher intelligences in the universe seem to all be aware that their universe is fictional, all for the entertainment of players.
Like I’m smart enough for that. No, the Angels are just one of many setting elements that will need to wait until I write something focused around the Oort Cloud or its whereabouts. Until then, you can think of them as basically aliens.
I rather enjoyed this but I will say I didn’t super duper appreciate the text for the achievement “Audacity” which I earned by being consistently hostile, uncooperative, and openly attempting to sabotage the efforts by the Meta Trio in their quest to murder Crystal.
The Meta Trio are superhuman space cops working for a fascist dystopian regime.
I don’t love being called an asshole for opposing them. ACAB is true now and it’s true in the future.
Yeah, even the protagonist of Saturnine can come to realise the truth if you ask for Knowledge from Sauce, albeit Sauce then redacts that little bit of information a few moments later cuz we go insane and try to commit suicide after the realisation. It also then goes to pretty much say “oopsies, that was a bit too much, hopefully the rest of the data you’ve been given doesn’t bring you back to that realisation.”

I’m kind of disappointed at the 4th wall break right there, it just doesn’t feels right that the whole universe of Saturnine has some entities that know they’re fictional, fake and stuff like that…
Bro, spoiler tag that. If you don’t know how then click on the + then at the bottom of the options that pop up there’s a “blur spoilers” option.
Also those entities don’t communicate with Humans and other lower level intelligences so they’re not gonna spread that info, they’re also quite rare, pretty sure only maybe World Engines, literal cosmic bodies and a rare few superintelligences otherwise are even capable of coming to that realisation without help. All of which are uninterested in “mortal” matters.
That disclaimer amused me when I first saw it, since I write my love scenes in a fairly general and vague manner. I suppose it makes sense for HG to err on the safe side and write a strong warning, but I can imagine new readers getting disappointed once they reach the steamy stuff.
That achievement exists solely for comedy value. Do not think of it too deeply.
If it really bothers you, you just head-canon it away as gods having some loose screws. Which they literally do, being old machines and all.
