Fantasy
I prefer real life over fantasy in general, I donât mind fantasy though.
I prefer fantasy over real life as I like escapism, but a few times I can also get into a mood when realizm is exactly what Iâm looking for in books/games.
Fantasy is all good and well, especially when you feel like escaping reality for a bit. Unfortunately, some authors bring realistic elements to the game and before you know it, youâre back to square one, having escaped nothing. Thatâs why I can appreciate a game such as The vampire Regent, breach and war for the west, so you can add fantasy to fantasy with a little godmoding.

âRealistic elementsâ donât inherently mean the story canât act as an escape from reality. Obviously itâs going to vary from reader to reader, but if itâs not my own life, then itâs a form of escape.
Does watching any TV show or movie with realistic elements not feel like a form of escape from everyday life? Or is it more of a case of the amount of realism, like a real life setting vs real world current events?
With movies and TV shows, youâre merely dragged along for the ride, with absolutely no control over the characters. In a game, I can appreciate some old school god modes, or the freedom to smash some enemies without ethical barriers or plot armours, but itâs as you say. To each their own. People were voicing their opinions, so I simply voiced mine. Enough said.
And thereâs nothing wrong with voicing your opinion. I wasnât attacking you or your opinion in any way; just trying to understand a perspective thatâs not my own.
Definitely fantasy. Though, I donât mind real life and fantasy co-existing (like the VTM series)
Real life or fantasy?
Either can work.
I dislike the notion, âhistorical accurateâ.
Taking bits of history is fine. WWII can be fun. Only if not trying to be accurate, canât have variables and all fights have to be âstagedâ if want that.
Real life 9 times out of ten. Or real life adjacent. Fantasy just never really clicked with me. Same with sci-fi, I find most of them kind of hard to distinguish. Although I guess that can be said from someone on the other side of the aisle tooâŚ
Lots of fantasy games around. Have gotten an overdose of them tbh. I would prefer a smth set in the modern world.
