Company
Oh yeah, that’d be under the “No uniform” option that’s already in place in the company creator
Can we upgrade our uniform and armor later if we manage to make enough money?
Yeah
Yes! There will be multiple opportunities to manage the company
Does “docking rights to lecel f station” implies that you only have docking rights to some sort of low quality dock that could only allow you to dock small ships maybe?
Yeah that’s the implication! I’m just not sure to what degree I want to make you arrange for better docking/better ships and what that does mechanically, or if I just want to mention that you’re getting those as you progress and leave it at that
I’d imagine it might potentially mean access to more high-paying jobs?
Yeah I can think of a couple different things that it could do. A bigger dock means a bigger ship, so you will have a better reputation and you’ll be able to use more troops in a given mission. Sure you might have 50 mercenaries in your employ, but if you only own a ship that fits 4 people you’re out of luck.
But the question I’m trying to consider is is this fun management, or tedious management?. The uniform and armor choices are fun because it let’s you really feel like it’s your company and helps you get a good visual picture of what everyone is wearing.
Rather curious about the geopolitical situation in this universe. Like how is humanity divided up? Is there a larger political entity that unites the worlds or is it a bunch of different ones? Are there interstellar states spanning multiple systems or is every system its own state? Or a bunch of different ones per planet?
I ask because I was also wondering if we would be capable of every mercenary company’s dream: taking over a ton of territory and becoming a warlord.
It’s very fractious; there are several multi-system states, but there are plenty of singular system states. There’s also planetary states, and even planets who still have multiple distinct states on one planet.
This leads to a very confusing mix of laws and legalities-a perfect area for you to operate in and around. With the size of these governments, each system and planet will have their own governing bodies to manage local resources, which means that even if a system is part of a sprawling civilization, it will still have its own peculiarities, laws, and police/military.
I think running your own nation state would be a topic for a part two, this project already has a tremendous scope that will be hard to finish
uh, what kind of customization level will the game have, again?
A pretty large amount! There’s a decent chunk in the prologue already, and if there’s an option that you feel like is missing is just let me know, I can probably slip it in there!
