I’ve been trying to replay this game a thousand times, but I keep getting stuck on the “WAKE UP!” page after the dream of the King right in the beginning, and I’ve cleared my cache a million times. I can’t keep doing this, it’s literally driving me into a cuckoolander!
PS: anyone else had issues with this??
(Edit: Omfg I just realised it only happens if I say the food is riddled with maggots and try to take the King’s hand. Why the hell didn’t I try and change my choices?! Can’t wait to see how it goes, Also, you gotta check that out author.)
Thank you for checking! It’s let me know that on mobile (apple) my phone also works perfectly, but google chrome is still a hit or miss. I had to turn off Express VPN to play this game to make it be able to pass choices–no idea why a VPN (no matter the country) stopped it, but once I turned it off it stopped freezing as often now. Though I still have some issues with loading a save even with the VPN off, and have to refresh twice and then click the “load game” quickly to make it work. No idea why. Still figuring that out.
Why would it not be okay?! Please do keep sharing your thoughts!
Your notes there further your suggestion that the player/reader isn’t just choosing a Camelot identity through these dreams, they are also choosing how Camelot’s history played out
I love reading stories about a knight being eternally faithful to their king/queen. You’d think I’d like Lancelot more? But I don’t? (Although I do like Lancelot!)
I think there’s a lot of narrative potential in the changeling plot, and I’m excited to see where it goes. I’m especially curious about the amnesiac changeling - how and why they ended up in the mortal realm, compared to the more straightforward baby exchange that usually happens.
We’ll see if I still feel that way when I find out what the options are for what the changeling looks like in their true form…
Wait, guys. Is Percy supposed to be Tristan or Percival? Because his personality is kind of like Tristan, but his name; Percy from Percival and Longspear from Percival’s Spear of Longinus kind of leads me to believe he’s Percival.
Or is that actually just lore from Fate and I’m getting confused?
Can anybody explain the appeal of playing as an imposter? The choice feels like the lesser of the 4 backgrounds, and at least when picking the option it really seems like the MC did it just because they could. It feels so random (which may be the point)
OKS forces you to be a criminal to some degree or another, and for someone with modern morals, taking the identity of someone who was already dead is a lesser evil than being a serial killer. Or a face-eating monster just waiting to awaken. Or… meta.
It also sounds like the Imposter secret subplot will be dealt with and over by the end of the first book, so it won’t be hanging over your head in the future and you can worry about other things.
Plus, the author indicated it is the secret to pick if you want to play the game on easymode. Not everyone is here for maximum angst, after all!
Okay, that makes sense! I didn’t think of it as the lesser of evil within the 4 options because I always assumed that of the fae, but the story is clearly playing out in a way where being a changeling probably won’t end in butterflies and rainbows lol
Mmm, in the current publicly available demo, you can talk to Merlin about being a fae in the Free Time Hub. Merlin… doesn’t exactly paint a super optimistic picture. I think readers who are naively assuming changeling is the lesser evil are going to be disappointed.
…especially if Changeling MC’s mom is who I think she is…
