Of the entire game so far, that choice is literally my only complaint. Everything else is great! But I refuse to be some psycho who steals identities or kills people. So I pick changling, even though I don’t want to
It’s hard to play a nice, sweet, innocent, soft little guy who has never done anything wrong in this game, because as the summary says:
For people who can’t read the Zalgo text: “You’re lying too.”
I think it’s intentional that the MC can’t have clean hands in this story.
Reminds me of this exchange on the Tumblr:

I should clearify that I don’t mind the MC having a secret. In fact, I think it’s a really interesting idea. A good girl with a dark secret sounds like a fun character to play!
My problem is with the actual options. A killer? No way. An imposter? No thanks. Fake amnesiac? Not interested. Changling? I guess…
I’m not sure what other options I would want, I just know that I’m not that into the ones we have. Maybe an accidental killing? Or manipulating our way into power? Or lying to get something we didn’t deserve? I don’t know, really.
I think Changeling is popular because it’s the only background where you didn’t do something questionable (at the very least). Not that you remember, if you are an amnesiac changeling.
They’ll get to make up for that when the Veil falls. ![]()
If Mom is Mab or Sebile, that’s gonna be rough. But if Dad is Bertilak or Mom is Morgana…still rough, but in different ways and at least not actively trying to destroy everything you love.
Pity that Mom can’t be Ninianne.
That is probably what would happen if Mom was Morgana.
I’m imagining this like a teenager asking their parent if they can borrow the car for a joyride.
Double-whammy, mom is Sebile and dad is Arawn.
Changeling MC: Dad, can I borrow the Wild Hunt?
Good. ![]()
As someone who knows nothing about Authorian lore (not even it’s spelling), I have my suspicions that MC mom is Lissa, dad is Frederick, and brother is Owain
Anyway, I wonder who Adrian’s owner is
(waves around 13-page dissertation)
I’m a wee bit sick right now, so I’ve been doing OKS challenge runs.
Does anyone have a challenge they would like me to try and/or make a guide for?
@myeraland maybe a “try not to die” challenge? Wherein you try to get possessed and mind controlled without reaching any dead ends. Suboptimal stats and/or denial not needed, but preferred.
There are dead ends???
I had no idea you could die
Some players are just built different
Some dead ends
Barring Adrian from your apartament and failing the stat check to escape from monster under the bed or being possesed in that situation (automatic fail) or sticking your head under the bed no matter if Adrian is there or nor (auto fail).
Refusing to leave your apartament with Merlin and not having a good relationship with Adrian.
Trying to run away at the gas station.
Currently only coded: letting your hp drop too low.
I wonder about the coughing old lady. We are apparently impervious to disease now, which is why I tried to help (that and my main MC also jumped in front of Adrian to protect him from the hellhound and had to be restrained from assisting Merlin).
I figure that is more along the lines of locating you since you’re supposed to be a tiny bit dead or at least missing atm, and you’re going to be stealing from the museum later, the more people who see you in an identifiable manner the worse it’ll be, y’know?
Ugh, don’t remind me flaming irradiated hoops I had to jump to keep the stalker out of my apartment. Anyway, here are statistics from non-meta run:

There appears to be a bug where even after Merlin recognizes the MC from the Camelot dream, they suspect the MC is Percival if they have high cuckoo.
Book Plot Thoughts from the Discord, with some extra bits about omens that I’ll keep adding as I remember them.
Book 1
- Imposter subplot focus
- Gathering the members for the Lesser Circle of 7
- The Museum’s gonna flood somehow, either time-dilation or those ominous empty fountains. So sayeth various cuckoo checks.
- There’s an RV fire omen and I doubt the RV’s gonna last past Book One so watch out for that
- There’s also been various mentions across liar & cuckoo that the RV’s gonna end up crashing through sm and getting wrecked.
Book 2
- Accident Background & Serial Killer subplot gets to shine, as the latter’s final targets for the car accident are overseas.
- Nonzero chance that the final 2 targets include a Harbinger, the oh the drama!
- Old World here we come! Group splits up to cover more ground (and because past life revelations cause increased friction) to find additional Harbingers for the Greater Circle of 13.
- Lots of human on human violence, I imagine. We’re no longer in the among us game, so our (human) enemies, such as the Rival Circle, are moving much more openly. As well as human agents of other factions.
- Run in with Arawn, the High King of the Fae, as he’s due (under the name ‘Gwynn ap Nudd’ to 'fight for the love of Creiddylad against Gwythyr ap Greidaw upon the first of every May until the coming of Judgment Day’ as per Merlin’s Guide.
- Either in this book or the next, track down Wayland the Smith & Witege Waylandson for fae-wrought arms
- Potential culmination: Circle cast & Arthur awakens?
Book 3
- Titled Queen of the Knight back in 2023
- Inhuman subplot focus
- Veil’s gone and we’re feeling the full brunt of the Otherworlds return. Running around directly dealing with fairy factions, collecting all our allies via Arthur’s blood pacts and pledges of fealty and age old alliances.
- Fairy Queens makin’ an appearance? Morgana, Titania, Mab, and Sebile are all up there…
- Here (and bleeding over into the next book?) we shape the coming apocalypse & humanities future place.
Book 4
- Liar subplot focus. Some mysterious plot involving the overarching themes of Man vs God/Destiny. In Merlin’s time bubble heaven info branch they mention that the benefit of a negligent god is room for free will, which makes me go ??? at the Liar’s thing. Doesn’t seem like a lot of wiggle room to me.
- If book 3 is all fairies, book 4 is the Demon Problem (and maybe Heaven or the Grail pop up???).
- sm sm cycles and destiny and alternate timelines n clairvoyance and free will and the Almighty.
- Lucifer being missing (allegedly eaten by the other Princes of Hell) is going to be so relevant for Book 4-5. It’s gonna be important for the free will/destiny/defying god or fate thing. Info for this is available if you ask Merlin all about Hell in the Time Bubble and then ask them about the Demon Princes in the Free Time Hub.
