One Knight Stand - King Arthur x Among Us Apocalyptic Road Trip (WIP 1.2M+ words)(UPDATE 12/1/25 74k+ - Scouting the Heist)

I don’t think they’re not attracted to the MC. I think it’s more that they’re attracted to everyone, because they require sex to live. But they’ll still be uniquely attracted/interested in us in a romantic relationship sort of way. Like, there are plenty of people I think are physically attractive. But I don’t have feelings for every person I think is attractive.

Like a vampire. A vampire needs to drink blood, and their desire is indiscriminate. Except, it’s sex.

No, I think @Notice_me_senpai was on the money - and on the author’s tumblr it’s explicitly stated that they don’t experience physical attraction to people.

It’s totally OK for it to feel icky. Just keep in mind that Merlin has a content warning for a reason. If it makes you feel too icky to justify continuing to read the story, you should protect your feelings and comfort first (by avoiding icky subjects) :+1:

To add: some asexuals have sex with their allosexual partners, despite lacking the physical desire the allo has. Not every allo would consent to that kind of relationship, but some do. It’s the same here: some players will consent to the nontraditional relationship they can have with Merlin; some won’t.

I don’t know what’s been said by the author. But this is my interpretation of the text. Sex for food is a great metaphor to explain what’s happening, but ultimately it is sex. So an incubus not experiencing sexual attraction just doesn’t make sense to me.

I wonder if we’ll at some stage be able to give Merlin the ability to subsist on mundane food, perhaps via a wish we’re granted for saving the world or sumn or find magic that can grant a viable alternative foodsource, magical fruit trees filled with life essence or something along those lines. Alternatively if we’re a changeling our Fae parent might offer a solution, or if being an awakened half Fae would allow Merlin to safely feed from us without needing to feed from others due to us having a higher reserve (or being granted a high enough and/or sufficiently rapidly replenishing reserve to do so via aforementioned magic and/or wish.)

You never worked a job you didn’t care about just to pay the bills? That’s what’s happening here. A half-demon has to eat, and if that means they have to bang someone, so be it. It doesn’t mean they have to LIKE IT.

I don’t think a job is a great comparison. It’s a hunger. It’s like being a vampire. You need to drink blood. You enjoy drinking blood, at least to a certain extent. But you aren’t going to be picky about it.

Again, this is just my interpretation. This could be completely off of what the intention was. It’s just what makes sense to me based on what I know.

My interpretation also. But…

Continuing the food metaphor, surely then the sexual attraction IS the hunger, but is also a lot more fluid as to what they might currently be in the mood for… for example, I might be organised and take sandwiches with me when going for, let’s say a long road trip, just in case I don’t have time or can’t find anything better en route. I often hope I don’t have to actually eat them, but then several hours later and I’m starving I think, “oh, f*#@ it” pun intended

As it turns out, there’s actually people who don’t enjoy eating food.

There’s certainly quite a few vampires in fiction that are actively disgusted by drinking blood.

I don’t know where this notion that people can’t not enjoy things they have to biologically do for survival comes from, but it’s wrong.

I mean, you’re right that people can be like that. Of course there are exceptions. It’s just not as likely. And that’s not the impression I got while reading.

All the talk of who is the saboteur on the Tumblr made me think of this meme:

*insert RO of your choice*

I found a bug (?) in the stat gains for this choice:

Clearly, the MC’s a delusional optimist for thinking something better will come along in the future.

I’d like to share a song that made me think of romanced!Adrian:

And I’d also like to share what I see whenever I picture my Fae!MC in my head (she’s an albino gremlin, in both behavior AND stature)

Definitely NOT sus.

Lust!MC being a gremlin:

If anyone else wants to share what the static in the TV says to them at the rest stop, here’s what I get for Amnesiac Fae MC:

Warning: this goes over a lot of the later writing in the public demo - please proceed with caution! It’s my theories regarding Adrian’s identity + a possible MC Camelot identity

Me pointing to a wall covered in papers and red string about how Gareth thought “someone” cough cough Adrian cough cough (ran away from home at a young age! Why not end up in cape town? Is that how he met Merlin initially?? But Merlin said he wasn’t sure about what exactly was going on back then in Gawain’s entry in Merlin’s Guide… I haven’t been able to make the dialogue happen in-game about them knowing each other. Not sure how whoops) was Gawain but he might be Agravain instead because they were also brothers- (plus Adrian’s power being super strength, his sin being wrath, him clashing with himself for his mask/act being “ordinary,” him blaming himself for how things turned out-) (also if Percy is Percy and Agravain helped Mordred kill Dinadan per Merlin’s guide if I’m reading things correctly… hmm… wonder how that will hash out… if I’m not being delulu, that is)

I’m of the belief, per the description in Merlin’s Guide, that Agravain is a mix of the lore I could find. Some of the good, some of the bad. It would track with how the description kept his face handsome but stuck with the misshapen limbs description.

One of the things making me question it is that Agravain is mentioned as having an affinity for metal magic in Merlin’s guide - and Adrian is using different elemental magic in a short story (on the Patreon! So many goodies on there, I highly recommend it). It’s not like he would be locked to one type, right, but… hm.

And also that one of the MC reincarnations might be Lucan (description was brief in the major allies list so I’m like… HMM…) and that one of the available ROs could be the reincarnation of Bedivere in a past life and that’s why a modern day RO is unavailable if you have a certain reincarnation (I haven’t read all of Merlin’s guide yet, I need to buckle in fully)

Me on floor dead. Watch me be so wrong about all of this… What if I’m just going “A names reincarnation for the A named RO” … I truly just gotta be patient. I replay this game at least once a week. It is my Roman Empire at this point LOL. I’m thinking about it so much!

I added all the background choices and variables to a spreadsheet to make it easier to sort them. Most of them are from the Camelot dream sequence in Chapter 2, but the childhood, secret, and vice choices can also impact your Camelot background. Maybe this will make it easier to see what variables correspond to what choices and how those might affect each other?

You can view the spreadsheet HERE

To sort, right-click the top-most cell of any column and select “sort by A - Z” or vice versa:

I’ll leave the original guide here, but I consider it outdated

Here’s a little guide to differentiate the 4 Camelot backgrounds from one another, and what choices to pick to get a specific one.

EDIT: This guide assumes that the “bg” variable in the code is connected to the backgrounds. There are other variables (“ag,” “cg,” “dg”) that show up sometimes as well. I originally only tallied “bg” points. I’m slowly adding the others, but they don’t appear in every choice.

Thanks to Vasya and Dracela for pointing out variables I missed!

BACKGROUND 1

When choosing your past:

  • The group home where I lived for the longest time after I’d been abandoned at the hospital as an infant. bg1 -1 (ag4 -1, cg3 -1, dg2 -1)
  • My favorite foster family after I’d been taken from my abusive birth mother by Child Protective Services. bg1 -1 (ag4 -1, cg3 +1, dg2 -1)
  • Myself as a young teen and my family a few weeks before the accident that took them all away. bg1 -1 (ag4 +1, cg3 -1, dg2 +1)
  • A landscape photo of the Nevada desert where I’d been found wandering without any memories as a late teen. bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg3 +1, dg2 +1)

When choosing your vice:

  • …if nothing else, at least it’s a distraction from your latest string of failed flings. [Lust] bg1 -1 (ag2 -1, cg4 +1, dg3 +1)

When choosing your secret:

  • That’s right, I’m a changeling. bg1 -1 (ag4 +1, cg2 +1, dg3 -1)
  • That’s right, there’s no secret darker than this. [Serial Killer] bg1 -2 (ag4 -2, cg2 -2, dg3 -2)
  • That’s right, this is the secret that must be kept from all, even the player. [Liar] bg1 +5 (ag4 +5, cg2 +5, dg3 +5)

Merlin route:

  • “I was merely following the footsteps that fate has already laid out for me.” bg1 +5 (ag4 -5, cg2 -5, dg3 +5)
  • “Bar the gates and raise the drawbridge! Let us see them try and gain entrance then!” bg1 -3 (ag1 -3, cg1 +3, dg1 +3)
  • I keep my silence. In the end, such politics have little to do with me. bg1 +3 (ag4 -3, cg3 +3, dg2 -3)
  • Such is only to be expected. bg1 -1 (ag2 +1, cg4 -1, dg3 +1)
  • Tis the epitome of pride to look down upon the king’s adopted brother. bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg2 +1, dg3 +1)

Lancelot route:

  • Even now I feel eyes upon me. bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg2 -1, cg3 -1)
  • Even if my steps flag at the thought of approaching him. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg3 -1, cg4 +1)
  • It has been awhile since I indulged in a proper spar myself. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg4 +1, dg2 -1)
  • “I had hoped to find Camelot more welcoming to strangers than this.” bg1 +1 (ag1 +1, cg2 +1, dg1 +1)
  • “I feared that you might faint from a fit of the vapors standing so close to a lady, Dinadan.” bg1 -5 (ag2 -5, cg4 +5, dg3 +5)
  • I merely keep a silent eye out for a certain stable boy. bg1 +1 (ag1 +1, cg2 -1, dg1 -1)
  • Cheer for Lancelot. bg1 -1 (ag3 +1, cg2 -1, dg3 +1)
  • At the last, I feel a pang of regret for not challenging Lancelot myself. bg1 +1
  • “Certainly there are some people about who would happily help you ‘mislay’ your original hand.” bg1 -3 (ag3 -3, cg4 +3, dg2 +3)
  • I merely wince at his/her words, remembering exactly how that hand had first been lost. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • I say nothing. My entire attention is riveted upon the two gracefully dancing forms. bg1 +1 (ag3 -1, cg4 -1, dg2 +1)
  • If this had been a true fight instead of a friendly spar, it would have already gone far differently here. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg2 -1, dg1 +1)
  • As is oft his wont. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg3 +1, dg3 -1)
  • Although I had been watching all along and know the exact route he has taken. bg1 +1 (ag3 -1, cg2 -1, dg4 +1)
  • I take my proper place at the head of the crowd and wait for the next match to start. bg1 -2 (ag4 +2, cg2 +2, dg3 -2)
  • I gaily wave to all the interlopers. bg1 -5 (ag4 -5, cg2 +5, dg3 +5)
  • …he shall start acting strange again, shan’t he? As he ever does. bg1 +2 (ag4 -2, cg3 -2, dg2 +2)
  • “Have you had your fill of thrashing passing squires, Lancelot?” bg1 -2 (ag4 +2, cg2 -2, dg3 +2)
  • “Shall your visit linger here for longer than a day or two or this time?” bg1 +2 (ag3 +2, cg4 -2, dg2 -2)
  • I say nothing. I merely stare back at him as serene as the sea. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg4 -1, dg3 +1)
  • Forget all this spectating… I stride forward and challenge Lancelot to a spar myself. bg1 -1 (ag4 -1, cg2 +1, dg3 +1)
  • “Be wary, Sir Lancelot, if you intend to continue with such gentle treatment it might come back to bite you.” bg1 -1 (ag3 -1, cg4 +1, dg2 +1)
  • In the end, tis only to be expected. I suppose I should be glad that he did not deny me
  • entirely. bg1 -1 (ag4 -1, cg2 +1, dg3 +1)
  • I simply raise an eyebrow. A training baton, truly? Has he been using such against the other knights? bg1 +1 (ag4 -1, cg3 -1, dg2 +1)
  • I do the same. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg4 -1, dg3 +1)
  • (Flirt) I compliment the deep blue of his eyes. bg1 -1 (ag4 -1, cg2 +1, dg3 +1)
  • I just stare back at him with narrowed gaze. bg1 -2 (ag2 -2, cg4 -2, dg3 -2)
  • Two can play this game! I match him hard to hard, high guard to high guard. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • I return the bow somewhat grudgingly. bg1 -2 (ag3 -2, cg4 +2, dg2 +2)
  • I kick at a nearby hillock in frustration. bg1 -5 (ag4 -5, cg2 +5, dg3 +5)
  • I offer a sharp salute with my retrieved sword. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg4 -1, dg3 +1)
  • Never mind, fair play and the rules of engagement, I charge straight at him before the match has even properly begun. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • Counterstrike into— bugger, no time for that! bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • I feint for the opening and then wheel about to attack from the other side. bg1 +1 (ag3 -1, cg2 -1, dg4 +1)
  • (Flirt) I say something somewhat… insinuating… while I press even closer. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • I cautiously flick my blade towards his left side as I explore his defense. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • I thrust boldly seeking to bludgeon an ever-widening crack in that opening. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • Methinks a bit of magic is called for here… and so I set my blade ablaze. bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg2 -1, dg3 -1)
  • I run in close beneath Lancelot’s opposing weapon and perform a half-sword swipe from below. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • Nay, this is a test of martial prowess alone. And so it shall remain so, even at the cost of my own pride. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • “Mayhaps next time,” you call out to Dinadan’s glee. bg1 -1 (ag3 -1, cg2 +1, dg4 +1)
  • “Let us spar outside properly where we may use our full power,” you gallantly suggest. bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg2 -1, dg3 -1)
  • “Fae magic is weaved deeply within the very walls of Camelot. Twould take more than a bit of fire to bring it down,” you gently tease. bg1 -1 (ag2 -1, cg4 +1, dg3 +1)
  • I simply bow back at Lancelot as knightly decorum decrees. bg1 +1 (ag2 +1, cg4 -1, dg3 -1)
  • (Lucid Dreamer) This is a dicey game to play, but even so… I’ll push my luck as a dreamer here! bg1 +10 (ag4 -10, cg2 -10, dg3 +10)
  • I just stop and preen for the moment. bg1 -10 (ag2 +10, cg3 -10, dg4 +10)
  • I look for the source of the cry of pain. bg1 +5 (ag4 +5, cg2 -5, dg3 -5)

Arthur route:

  • “Oi, stable boy! What scurrilous mischief are you engaging in over there?” My bellow is thunderous within the confines of the stable, but not so loud as to be overheard outside. bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • “You know stealing from the king’s royal stable is an offense worthy of losing a limb,” I gently tease. bg1 -1 (ag2 +1, cg4 -1, dg3 +1)
  • “Will you need any assistance in this current escapade of yours?” I solicitously ask. bg1 +1 (ag4 -1, cg3 -1, dg2 +1)
  • “I dare say, Your Majesty, your acting would put Princess Silence, Master Eliot, and their minstrel friends to shame.” bg1 +1 (ag3 -1, cg4 -1, dg2 +1)
  • (Merlin route) “I fear Lord Merlin is too busy cackling in yonder staircase landing to be sending any assistance to you.” bg1 -1 (ag4 -1, cg2 +1, dg3 +1)
  • “Mayhaps tis fate that our paths did cross like this.” bg1 +2 (ag4 +2, cg2 -2, dg3 -1)
  • I keep my eyes trained upon the king. bg1 +1 (ag3 +1, cg2 -1, dg4 -1)
  • I reach over and gently fondle Passelande’s ears. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg4 -1, dg3 +1)
  • I keep my own ears pricked for the sound of any intruders. bg1 +1 (ag4 -1, cg2 +1, dg3 -1)
  • In truth, mayhaps I simply angle for an invitation as said guard. bg1 +1 (ag4 -1, cg2 -1, dg3 +1)
  • In truth, I worry not as I well know the king’s prowess. But it still needs to be said. bg1 +5 (ag4 +5, cg2 -5, dg3 -5)
  • “Verily, I have always longed to steal the steed of a knight!” bg1 -10 (ag2 -10, cg3 +10, dg4 +10)
  • “As always, I am eternally at your beck and call, Your Majesty.” bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg3 -1, dg2 -1)
  • Although perhaps it means something different than I suspect. bg1 -1 (ag3 +1, cg2 -1, dg4 +1)
  • Actually… I feel rather disconcerted. What could it mean again? bg1 -2 (ag2 -2, cg4 +2, dg3 +2)
  • I keep my eyes focused upon my next destination. The door awaits once more. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg3 -1, dg4 +1)
  • I keep my ears pricked for the sound of someone’s approach. bg1 +1 (ag2 +1, cg3 -1, dg4 -1)
  • I linger to see the outcome of this most unexpected match. bg1 -1 (ag3 -1, cg4 +1, dg2 +1)
  • I keep walking without a single glance back. bg1 +1 (ag4 -1, cg2 +1, dg3 -1)
  • I keep my head low and I continue striding through the shadows in the king’s wake. bg1 +1 (ag3 -1, cg4 -1, dg2 +1)
  • I instead offer my hand to the king to assist in his mounting instead. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg4 +1, dg3 -1)
  • No such aid is needed, of course. I spring lightly into my steed’s seat with nary a hitch to my stride. bg1 -1 (ag4 +1, cg2 +1, dg3 -1)
  • (Flirt) I reach out to accept the assistance of that hand… and perhaps hold on a shade longer than is strictly appropriate. bg1 -1 (ag2 +1, cg3 -1, dg4 +1)
  • “Do you think Lancelot will truly notice your markings amongst the passage of all who came before us?” bg1 -1 (ag3 +1, cg4 +1, dg3 -1)
  • “Should we not wait for Sir Lancelot before e’er we travel too far?” bg1 -1 (ag3 +1, cg2 -1, dg4 +1)
  • I simply nod my agreement and turn to look back upon Camelot. bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg3 -1, dg2 -1)
  • I keep a sharp eye for anyone or "anything” that may be lurking amongst the encroaching trees. bg1 +1 (ag3 +1, cg2 -1, dg4 -1)
  • My fingers nimbly fly as I quickly begin fitting each disparate piece of armor to its enjoining part like a puzzle piece with the king’s body as its foundation. bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg2 -1, dg3 -1)
  • Oh dear gods, all the straps and buckles and various little pieces that go hither and thither and wherever… bg1 -1000 (ag4 -1000, cg2 +1000, dg3 +1000)
  • (Flirt) For a moment I simply stare at the peek of chest and abdomen muscles that the king has so thoughtfully bared. Aye, verily, I have the hands to ‘aid’ here indeed. bg1 -3 (ag4 +3, cg2 -3, dg3 +3)
  • Something pricks at the back of my mind. bg1 +1 (ag2 -1, cg3 -1, dg4 +1)
  • Something is wrong here. bg1 +1 (ag3 -1, cg2 +1, dg4 -1)
  • I reach for my own sword… which remains missing from my side today. bg1 +3 (ag2 +3, cg3 -3, dg4 -3)
  • I spin in a slow circle, reaching out with my senses to try and perceive where the fae may be lurking. bg1 +1 (ag4 +1, cg2 -1, dg3 -1)

Merlin route:

  • “Have you had your fill of thrashing passing squires, Lancelot?” bg2 +1

  • I keep my ears pricked for the sound of someone’s approach. bg2 +1
  • My blinded eyes still scan my surroundings for anything suspicious. bg2 +1
  • I quietly tally the likelihood of each knight’s victory within my mind. bg2 +1
  • I instead offer my hand to the king to assist in his mounting instead. bg2 +1
  • No such aid is needed, of course. I spring lightly into my steed’s seat with nary a hitch to my stride. bg2 -1
  • “I should have brought some string with us to leave a trail behind,” I jest. bg2 +1
  • “We shall be avoiding the main thoroughfares in our journey then?” bg2 +1
  • I keep a sharp eye for anyone or “anything” that may be lurking amongst the encroaching trees. bg2 +1
  • “Sire, mayhaps you should have worn maille or leather armor today instead?” I say as I hold up his gorget and start valiantly battling with its straps. bg2 +1
  • My fingers nimbly fly as I quickly begin fitting each disparate piece of armor to its enjoining part like a puzzle piece with the king’s body as its foundation. bg2 +1
  • Oh dear gods, all the straps and buckles and various little pieces that go hither and thither and wherever… bg2 -1000 (ag1 -1000, cg3 +1000, dg4 +1000)
  • Things have suddenly become too quiet. bg2 +1
  • I reach for my own sword… which remains missing from my side today. bg2 +3

Merlin route:

  • “I have come to hear a prophesy today, Lord Mage.” bg3 +1 (ag2 -1, cg4 +1, dg1 -1)
  • “Bar the gates and raise the drawbridge! Let us see them try and gain entrance then!” bg3 -3 (ag3 +3, cg3 -3, dg3 +3)
  • “Shall I prepare to greet the delegation in the Grand Hall then?” bg3 +5 (ag2 +5, cg1 -5, dg4 -5)
  • I keep my silence. In the end, such politics have little to do with me. bg3 -10 (ag2 -10, cg1 +10, dg4 +10)
  • I had best make preparations just in case. bg3 +3 (ag1 +3, cg2 -3, dg2 -3)

Lancelot route:

  • Even if my steps flag at the thought of approaching him. bg3 +1
  • “I had hoped to find Camelot more welcoming to strangers than this.” bg3 +1
  • I merely keep a silent eye out for a certain stable boy. bg3 +1
  • Cheer for Lancelot. bg3 +1
  • Cheer for the king. Mayhaps he lingers close enough to overhear you. bg3 +1
  • “Certainly there are some people about who would happily help you ‘mislay’ your original hand.” bg3 -1
  • I say nothing. My entire attention is riveted upon the two gracefully dancing forms. bg3 +1
  • As is oft his wont. bg3 +1
  • Although I had been watching all along and know the exact route he has taken. bg3 +1
  • I take my proper place at the head of the crowd and wait for the next match to start. bg3 +3
  • I gaily wave to all the interlopers. bg3 +1
  • …he shall start acting strange again, shan’t he? As he ever does. bg3 +2
  • “Shall your visit linger here for longer than a day or two or this time?” bg3 +2
  • In the end, tis only to be expected. I suppose I should be glad that he did not deny me entirely. bg3 +1
  • (Flirt) I compliment the deep blue of his eyes. bg3 +3
  • (Flirt) I say something somewhat… insinuating… while I press even closer. bg3 +10
  • Methinks a bit of magic is called for here… and so I set my blade ablaze. bg3 +3
  • I look for the source of the cry of pain. bg3 +1

Arthur route:

  • “Oi, stable boy! What scurrilous mischief are you engaging in over there?” My bellow is thunderous within the confines of the stable, but not so loud as to be overheard outside. bg3 +3
  • “You know stealing from the king’s royal stable is an offense worthy of losing a limb,” I gently tease. bg3 +1
  • I reach over and gently fondle Passelande’s ears. bg3 +1
  • In the end, I can not help but worry over him. bg3 +5
  • I mostly tease more than not. Anyone who dares to attack Arthur will be far worse off for it. bg3 +1
  • “As always, I am eternally at your beck and call, Your Majesty.” bg3 -1
  • Actually… I feel rather disconcerted. What could it mean again? bg3 -1
  • I briefly glance over towards the practice yard. bg3 +1
  • I keep my face lowered lest someone recognize me. bg3 +1
  • I linger to see the outcome of this most unexpected match. bg3 +1
  • I keep my head low and I continue striding through the shadows in the king’s wake. bg3 +1
  • I lightly accept the offer in the good will that it was intended. bg3 +1
  • No such aid is needed, of course. I spring lightly into my steed’s seat with nary a hitch to my stride. bg3 +1
  • (Flirt) I reach out to accept the assistance of that hand… and perhaps hold on a shade longer than is strictly appropriate. bg3 +3
  • “The lord of Sorbiodūnum shall be quite shocked if the High King suddenly turns up upon his doorstep.” bg3 +1
  • “Do you think Lancelot will truly notice your markings amongst the passage of all who came before us?” bg3 -1
  • “Should we not wait for Sir Lancelot before e’er we travel too far?” bg3 +1
  • My fingers nimbly fly as I quickly begin fitting each disparate piece of armor to its enjoining part like a puzzle piece with the king’s body as its foundation. bg3 -1
  • (Flirt) For a moment I simply stare at the peek of chest and abdomen muscles that the king has so thoughtfully bared. Aye, verily, I have the hands to ‘aid’ here indeed. bg3 +1
  • Something pricks at the back of my mind. bg3 +3
  • The king has suddenly stiffened. bg3 +1
  • I sidestep closer to the king. For my protection or perhaps his… tis better to not become separated with such mischief afoot. bg3 +1
BACKGROUND 4

Merlin route:

  • “I have come to hear a prophesy today, Lord Mage.” bg4 +1 (ag3 +1, cg1 -1, dg2 -1)
  • “Bar the gates and raise the drawbridge! Let us see them try and gain entrance then!” bg4 -1 (ag4 -1, cg4 -1, dg4 -1)
  • “Shall I prepare to greet the delegation in the Grand Hall then?” bg4 +3 (ag1 -3, cg2 -3, dg3 +3)
  • I keep my silence. In the end, such politics have little to do with me. bg4 -3 (ag1 +3, cg2 +3, dg3 -3)
  • I had best make preparations just in case. bg4 +1 (ag2 -1, cg3 +1, dg1 -1)

Lancelot route:

  • It has been awhile since I indulged in a proper spar myself. bg4 -10
  • “If Lancelot had tried to fight a mage or mystic then perhaps things would have turned out rather differently here.” bg4 +3
  • Cheer for the king. Mayhaps he lingers close enough to overhear you. bg4 +1
  • At the last, I feel a pang of regret for not challenging Lancelot myself. bg4 -5
  • “Certainly there are some people about who would happily help you ‘mislay’ your original hand.” bg4 -1
  • This would be the moment where a spell could turn the tide of battle… bg4 +3
  • I take my proper place at the head of the crowd and wait for the next match to start. bg4 +3
  • I gaily wave to all the interlopers. bg4 +1
  • “Have you had your fill of thrashing passing squires, Lancelot?” bg4 -1
  • “Shall your visit linger here for longer than a day or two or this time?” bg4 +1
  • Forget all this spectating… I stride forward and challenge Lancelot to a spar myself. bg4 -10
  • In the end, tis only to be expected. I suppose I should be glad that he did not deny me entirely. bg4 +5
  • I shift into a common close guard stance. This position is quite beloved for a reason. bg4 -1
  • I drop into a low guard stance, with sword lowered between my legs. A stance that is deceptively open. bg4 -1
  • Counterstrike into— bugger, no time for that! bg4 -1
  • I feint for the opening and then wheel about to attack from the other side. bg4 -1
  • “Fae magic is weaved deeply within the very walls of Camelot. Twould take more than a bit of fire to bring it down,” you gently tease. bg4 +1
  • I run in close beneath Lancelot’s opposing weapon and perform a half-sword swipe from below. bg4 -1
  • (Lucid Dreamer) This is a dicey game to play, but even so… I’ll push my luck as a dreamer here! bg4 -10

Arthur route:

  • “Oi, stable boy! What scurrilous mischief are you engaging in over there?” My bellow is thunderous within the confines of the stable, but not so loud as to be overheard outside. bg4 +3
  • “You know stealing from the king’s royal stable is an offense worthy of losing a limb,” I gently tease. bg4 +1
  • “Mayhaps tis fate that our paths did cross like this.” bg4 +1
  • In the end, I can not help but worry over him. bg4 +1
  • In truth, mayhaps I simply angle for an invitation as said guard. bg4 -5
  • I mostly tease more than not. Anyone who dares to attack Arthur will be far worse off for it. bg4 +5
  • “As always, I am eternally at your beck and call, Your Majesty.” bg4 -1
  • I lightly accept the offer in the good will that it was intended. bg4 +1
  • No such aid is needed, of course. I spring lightly into my steed’s seat with nary a hitch to my stride. bg4 +1
  • (Flirt) I reach out to accept the assistance of that hand… and perhaps hold on a shade longer than is strictly appropriate. bg4 +3
  • “The lord of Sorbiodūnum shall be quite shocked if the High King suddenly turns up upon his doorstep.” bg4 +1
  • “Do you think Lancelot will truly notice your markings amongst the passage of all who came before us?” bg4 +1
  • Oh dear gods, all the straps and buckles and various little pieces that go hither and thither and wherever… bg4 +5
  • For a moment I simply stare at the peek of chest and abdomen muscles that the king has so thoughtfully bared. Aye, verily, I have the hands to ‘aid’ here indeed. bg4 +3
  • I reach for my own sword… which remains missing from my side today. bg4 -10
  • I spin in a slow circle, reaching out with my senses to try and perceive where the fae may be lurking. bg4 +3
  • I sidestep closer to the king. For my protection or perhaps his… tis better to not become separated with such mischief afoot. bg4 +1

I’m hoping Ninianne is background 4 as it seems to be magically inclined and I don’t think she would flirt with Lancelot.

Background 3 looks suspiciously like Guinevere (-10 for not being involved with politics, +10 for flirting with Lancelot, +5 for worrying about Arthur and gains affinity for teasing and flirting with Arthur, knows magic)

The fact that the previous Circle thought they might’ve found Gawain but imploded before they could investigate (a fact that has its own dialogue option and was repeated in Gawain’s phone guide entry) makes me wonder if it’s a red herring and Gawain might actually be one of the backgrounds.

Background 2 seems like the best fit here if he is: someone who’s probably considered Lancelot’s equal in combat or close enough (looking at the +/- 10s), is a valid stand-in for Arthur to greet visiting delegations, and seems more playful/outgoing than Background 1 (described as “golden-tongued” in Merlin’s phone guide).
