Thanks for letting me know about the mistakes! I usually make a ton when I write then go back and do a pass to catch what I missed but I always have several that I miss.
@amie, thank you especially because it is so useful to know where exactly I messed up!
Also for the errors, it is so odd because the code works for me when I test it on CoGDemos but a lot of people get it and every time I go to fix it, something else breaks.
I think it’s because that section is not finished, I’ll try to find the time to just get a rough draft of that section done so I can find what exactly caused the error. I know I talked about this on Tumblr but just in case I haven’t ever said it here, am just struggling to find a job right now after getting let go from my old one back in January.
That is a big reason I have not had a bunch of time to fix some of the errors or add more to the story recently, but this story is still being worked on and is by no means being abandoned or anything like that!
Just saying in case some people worry why it hasn’t been really actively updated recently.
Hey uh, I had notes on the at the time new build. But it’s a bit late now sorry. I wrote those before I had to put up with a court case and beginning to rebuild my life after it was more or less stolen from me in a situation that ironically involved actual homeless children. But if you want I can dig it up. Because I certainly wanted to help more, though I’m busy at the moment, and that hit a bit too close to home while I was busy trying to fix the real thing. Things are better now, but I’m still busy. Under most other circumstances I’d eat it up it’s just that I had the mother of all bad timings (pun intended.) In fact as someone who WAS, has written about, and is going to trying to get his criminology PHD on the trafficking of homeless kids before I’m also happy to help with my massive brain that is both perfect and humble! After all no one with a Liberal Arts degree has ever made a mistake in the history of ever!
Seriously though I’m glad to see it hasn’t been abandoned (can’t say the same for the MC though.)
I have been on an absolute bughunt today fixing the IF and all the error codes, sorry that it took me so damn long. My new job has been killing me physically so when I get home and on my days off I just absolutely crash out (literally). It all leaves me with so little time to write but I did have a day off today and vowed I would get ish done so please let me know if you get any more error codes!
I also added about 5k words and rewrote some segments, so if a lot of dialogue (especially around the dinner scene is different) it is because my style of writing is tearing things down, cannibalizing it, rewriting it, editing it to hell and back; only to repeat the process until I am happy with it lol.
I have also decided that a high brazen stat and brazen oriented choices will lead to the MC cussing more because I found it funny, let me know if you all are on board with this change. I still have to change some dialogue for it but the first one that is already written for it is the learning attitude segment.
I changed some other things but I don’t remember them all so just have fun!
don’t know if i’m the only this is happening to, but I can’t acess the game through the cogdemos link on the main post. it just takes me to a page that says it can’t be found
Sorry it took me so long to fix that, I am glad you found another solution to reach the game in the meantime; but hopefully now the next time you do the link should work now.
I left the cheat menu in the demo because it makes bug finding and code testing just so much easier for me and others. I don’t plan to leave it in for the default final version but I could probably leave in a ‘cheat mode’ setting that lets you keep it but disables achievements or something like that.
I’m so glad our MC finally got a haircut. Lol. It felt natural to have long hair on the streets being a street orphan for so long. I kept thinking it would be nice to get our hair cut or the option to restyle once we’re older. So I was glad to see that come up in the recent addition.
My own MC is a distrustful, clever kid who sweetens up and listens around June. He’s skeptical of ppl, specially other kids. Hopefully his new friends will be patient and show him he can let down his guard.
I imagine he’ll grow to be an unfriendly stranger but a fiercely loyal friend, good at cooking and fighting. Like a delinquent with a good heart.
