Officer of the Fleet (WIP)(~90k words)(Minor Update 5/5/25)

Quite frankly I already have a theory on this. What if all the technology that the Raptors are using isn’t actually theirs? What if the Raptors are just bred and controlled by another galactic empire and are just used as fodder/an endless wave of soldiers to conquer new worlds. With their lack of intelligence I feel like this is quite likely, because why waste your own people when you can just send tsunamis of these creatures instead.

If that is the case the one of these two things MUST happen Firstly: The raptors have to be easy to mass produce because it wouldnt be worth it to send billions of them to die on earth unless of course
Secondly: if the Raptors indeed are expensive to produce then Earth must be valuable either as a center of transport for colonization of other solar systems or if it has something valuable

That seems like a plausible theory. It actually makes me think of Mass Effect, what with how the Salarians treated the Krogan.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you’re underestimating how weird people can be on the internet. :joy:

The fact that you all are theorizing about my little story makes me very happy, so thanks for that!

Slightly smaller than average in most cases and usually covered in some sort of ballistic vests. Others also fought with weapons while most Raptors would simply close to short range and kill with their claws. Such exemptions seemingly had no connection to rank or position and randomly occurred at fairly low rates across all theaters of war.

If I get fan art of a sexy Raptor I’ll know I’ve officially made it as a writer .

And likely be scarred for life…

Aslong as there is even ONE picture of a Raptor ingame your Sanity, Mental Health, and Eyeballs are gonna be fried, cooked, toasted, and barbecued the second you search it up with no filter

Nothing quite like the feeling of knowing you’ll be able to afford the therapy you will immediately need.

How thick are the Raptor’s skin then? Did they suffer high casualties with no sense of preseverence for their own lifes, trying to go short range?

Going based off of the few space battles with them I’d say that they really don’t have a sense of self-preservation. I don’t recall the exact text, but it was something along the lines of them overwhelming human ships via numerical superiority and charging towards ships to board them despite raptor ships having weaponry.

It also spoke of the total lack of strategy of the raptors and that the few space battles that happend were only won because the Enemy simply charged towards the fleet, so the human admirals were able to win through simple strategies.
I also don’t remember the exact words, but the protagonist points out that it is not possible for a species that managed to create spaceships that defy gravity, that were able to create faster-than-light travel, to not have at least solved basic questions of strategy and planning.

Right, I forgot about that part. I personally think they’re being used as shock troops by a more intelligent species like @DashingCoward posed or managed to somehow acquire and miraculously understand the spacefaring tech of a more intelligent species, like with the Protheans in Mass Effect. I think the former is more plausible than the latter, however.

Seeing as the raptors resemble velociraptors:
