New Hosted Game! "Hero or Villain: Battle Royale" By Adrao

A bug report here, first post by the way, a youngling/hopeful to ChoiceScript to goodliness so please take the following report (and be so kind as to point me in the right direction if I am way off in where this should be…) as pointing out of something which may be out of order or possibly user error.

So, ON we go with our down-trodden-hero’s comments:

I purchased the Hero or Villain: Battle Royale today (Sept 16, in the year of our Lord, 2020). I am using the HostedGames app on an android smart phone while I seem to hit some things I really don’t understand. One, I loaded my hero-guy (light powers, with the defeated cyborg army ending, not too terrible interactions with Steel Aeronaut) which agreed to be in with Aggy about the rebellion and then never got anything which furthered that storyline. Could be that I missed it, but from a story perspective would make sense as to be able to further rebellion against oppressive powers/kidnappers/fight for my pleasure monkey-people! type story thread. I could have missed the boat on where I am supposed to further this, however it was not blatantly obvious to my-own-self so I needed to say something. (I do get hit in the head a LOT…I have small kids in the house…)

Second, loading my second play through (bad guy, shadow powers, relationship with Aggy, followed her to the stars) I SOMEHOW after the first fight with Flying Dummy or weak-bat-thingy went from not getting hit to about 39% health at the next screen. Somewhere something went bad. It caused me so much grief in my escapism-from-tedium-of-me-job I had to break down and tell myself, “Well that was unexpected and kind of wrong.”

I hope this helps in seeing somethings which may not workey. (Yes, workey is a word). Also if I goobered (also a word) up in a severe way, could someone please point out what I missed. I am too lazy to hold a grudge or anything…

@adrao How do you attack the Mag’zhar barracks to start the rebellion? Every time I try to skip the finals to start a rebellion that option is greyed out. I’ve taken control of both of the warring clans, made an army of robots, and gathered all info from the info lady. What am I missing?

@ClaimedMinotaur

Did you meet with the rebel you saw at the funeral and organise a place for them to meet?

Ok…I played the game yesterday, with about 4 different characters and got about nine different ending (spent a lot of time playing the game) and it seems to me that the adventure hasn’t ended yet…it would really be good if we can save the ending…

The option to save your ending will be available once @adrao finishes 80% of the next book. CoG policy, not dependent on the author.

How do you meet with them?

Come on @adrao, you need to get in here and take your victory lap! Getting a sequel that large out in such a relatively short timeframe is a huge deal.

Yay they fixed the bug

It’s AMAZING, lol in a way this sequel is basically a superpowered intergalactic gladiator slavery…
WoW… that’s a bloody great idea actually…
And rebel uprising against ancient alien tyrants and a galactic scale war…

I saw her and I asked the Lanista about her, but I never found any mention of her after that.

@adrao I noticed that Aggy returns and seems to act like we’re besties, despite me brutally killing her (and making sure she was dead) in the previous game.

So I’ve just finished Battle Royale and I noticed that the author’s writing style has greatly improved. I’ve played Hero and Villain Genesis and the Mad-Max style story and found the writing bland. Battle Royale wasn’t so good job! It’s much more engaging and entertaining, the characters are likeable unlike the first game. What I disliked in the game is that the criminal options felt disconnected and lacking in agency. And there’s little things you could do with the criminal path. I’ll try the heist ending once I replayed the game.

All in all, I liked the story and once again I commend the author for his improvement. Best of wishes mate!

Unless adrao says differently, I don’t think you should ask the Lanista about her. Just go to the church and ask about the tattoo, then offer to help her with a gang, then organise a room for them to meet in to plan the rebellion. Then meet with them. I found if I didn’t do those things, you couldn’t join the rebellion at the time of the final battle.

Gotcha. I’ll try that later.

Where do I go if I have trouble restoring my purchase of this game?

I tried going to the house of games (the only religious place I can find), and the only options were to gamble or to go home, and neither option seems to have any story significance.

I did that and I still didn’t get the option to go to the church?? Do you have to be a hero or villain for this to work because during the demo you could do it while being both??

Yeah umm, I’ve been playing for 10+ hours and I still can’t find the requirements for the rebel pathway too.

I really like the story thus far. I bought it in the omnibus, and it keeps telling me to log in to access the rest of the game… Wth, I purchased it, the game shows as purchased. So why exactly do i have to log in to choice of games to play the rest. This only happens with the omnibus. It’s not a big deal I suppose, it just ends up restarting the story for me when this occurs. Looks like I gotta start over, bummer.

Anyway, good job with this story, pretty enjoyable so far!
