Black Magic. There was something wonderfully crafted about BM that made me desperate to see how the story would play out. Although not necessarily integral to the plot, it became integral to the way I played, wondering how my hero would act given his tempestuous relationship ship and how much of BM’s behaviour he would tolerate and how much he could forgive in the end. An awesome character and an even more awesome RO.
Honourable mentions to Ash Wakefield and James from Creatures both of whom I loved.
If I’m being honest, Craig was the only RO whose romance I played through in Unnatural. Lakota never interested me, and Victor’s unfortunately bugged so… he was kinda my only option in the long run. I’m one of those (stubborn?) players that refuses to play as the opposite sex even if it would let me play through the romances I’m interested in.
Let me tell you though, I would’ve jumped on Austin if he swung that way. He was the companion that most interested me, but, if I remember correctly, most interactions with the companions were essentially gated to their romance arcs so I didn’t really get to know him as much as I would’ve liked to. I remember on my very first run through the game, I always picked him as my partner on missions hoping to get to know him better but alas.
I’ll try and add more none romance gated interactions for you. Victor will certainly be unbugged when this is done. I’ll make sure of it and triple check it.
Ashleigh Wakefield from Choice of Deathless, definitely. Mecha Ace’s Camille Hawkins, though I would have liked it if certain scenes had been more accessible for us aro aces. And not really a romance, but I’m a huge fan of Apex Patrol’s Scientist!Kasador when the MC is both sympathetic and a match intellectually for them. Something about the scenes where you can see that they regret their actions and wish you were still working alongside each other is quite touching.
So far I’ve seen very little about Sidney from So You’re Possessed. Honestry he was my favourite, but also because he served more purpose than just being a romantic option.
JJ from Slammed!
SEMRYU!! from Waywalkers
Patch from Fatehaven
Black Magic from Hero Trilogy
FELTON!! and Adrian from For Peace We Die
Hunter from Monster High
Arthur from Guenevere
Just to name a few off the top of my head.
D’aww! Glad to hear. We’re pretty fond of Sidney, too. More than anything, we wanted Sid to feel authentic and like a fully fleshed out friend and character, so I’m glad that seems to have come across for you. That whole relationship and it’s many iterations will be expanded on in the sequel, along with some new ones!
The scenes where you get together were so sweet it was my favorite part of the story, and after when she talked about how happy her mom will be made me giggle, made it all the more sweet that I had chosen that we had always been friends
’ I’m going to say lady Catherine from Guns of infinity!! She’s a lovely Regency femme fatale the feels like she’s a MC in an entirely nother story parallel to your own. Even when she shows her feelings you want to believe they’re genuine and you’re not another Pawn in this great game she playing!
Wakefield from Deathless is my absolute favorite Deathless was I think my third(?) Choice Of game that I ever played and I just keep coming back to it because I love it so much and ended up getting into the book series that it’s set in too. Vega and Cass’s romances were also super sweet and I loved them too but I’m a sucker for rivals-to-lovers and arrogant-and-snarky characters
Loved Strephon from Empyrean because of that too. Plus the part where you take him to the party and he spends the night trying to impress you was adorable (unsure how spoiler worthy this is? The game is p new so I guess I should put up the warning just in case anyway)
Really interested in Jesse if the one date with him in Choice of the Vampire 2 counts at all and looking forward to the next game. I unfortunately ate Silas in Choice of the Vampire 1 because I didn’t know he was romanceable and haven’t gotten around to replaying
I couldn’t figure out how to romance anyone in my first playthrough of ZE. Since I already did one PT without a romance (I always make a self-insert character for my first couple plays and I’m a gay guy so I haven’t seen Mindy or Heather’s routes yet) I already knew what Tom was gonna do and romanced him purely for the angst and then moved on to Devlin in my next few plays just to see how his route played out. I wasn’t expecting to like Devlin at all at first but now I adore him because of his romance played out really nicely and I found it really cute how he and PC end up adopting a child in at least most of the endings and I got really sad when he died in ending 7
Well my Vampire mc’s first real love was definitely Silas, but I can’t deny that I think there’s also a growing fascination/attraction/rivalry between him and Jesse.
But, yeah, Silas was the perfect, gentlemanly, artistic counterpart to my more technologically minded and calculating Yankee Vampire.
If my vampire mc has a sufficiently huge fortune once we get to the more modern ages my mc would like to make a memorial foundation in Silas’ name that awards arts and culture scholarships to poor and disadvantaged children (particularly the gay ones) from the Southern parts of the US.
So what, that’s just a little misunderstanding and it is still a memorable start to the relationship, I mean my mc in @Interestedparty’s game still thinks his first date with Jason went relatively well despite him stabbing said boy in the leg with a piece of glassware and interrogating him under the threat of chem-lab acid.
Of course our mc in that game has really screwed up standards for proper social behaviour.
If you really like Strephon, as my mc does, then that little incident is just a little misunderstanding and nothing more.
You know I was literally having a conversation with a friend about my bad judgement in romane choices yesterday :,D I always go for shady (at best) jerks who might try to kill me in games but thankfully the type of guy I go for irl is on the opposite end of that spectrum entirely
I didn’t realize that Wesh was a possible romance? Lack of clarity in her scenes made me think she was a sentient robot at first (though I guess a robot is still romanceable like in Choice of the Robots (which I still haven’t finished) and then the somewhat patronizing tone of some of the possible dialogue options made me think she was a little girl (like 9-12 years old)
