Link to Review of Wayhaven Chronicles

Not really the review that’s the issue though, is it? It’s the pretty deliberate attempt to stir shit on the actual forum despite the failure. Which @Jacic nailed on the head. If they’d just left it a review outside and not taken steps to ensure people on here saw it, it wouldn’t even be a conversation right now.

You’re right, playstore reviewers can be pretty rude and unhelpful. However, they stay in their lanes. They don’t bring it anywhere else where everyone was happily minding their own business (mostly). And “residual anger” is a weak excuse for doing so. It’s an inoffensive, non-controversial, text-based romance game. What exactly is there to be residually angry about, lmao?

Like I said, he’s digging his own grave. It appears that he’s not even trying to be diplomatic. But if he said he posted his review here and was open to discussion, would the response really be any different? As I told him already, posting that here is just asking for trouble, not because he did anything wrong, but because of the forum/fanbase. I think as a community we need to get better about talking about things (in a civil manor) that we don’t like.

What about anyone’s response here hasn’t been civil though? The only one who hasn’t been civil and then brushed it off as no biggie because they weren’t worried about being attacked (okay?) was in fact OP.

All I’m saying is that an ounce of humility wouldn’t kill someone who went out of their way to incite. I’m sure if they’re okay with being crusaded against, they will probably also survive someone attacking them despite their as of yet non-existent turnaround. :laughing:

I wasn’t going to read it, but I got curious and bit the bait.

This is my reaction:

@Jacic nailed it. This person wants/needs attention. Unfortunately, they decided to be unpleasant about it.

I’m in favour of closing this thread. It’s not clear what the OP is after, but it’s clear they are not looking for feedback.

@moderators Can we please?

No, so far everyone has been mostly civil (a couple are bordering). I was speaking to the fact that he knew before posting this that he was going to get trashed. I’ve thought the same thing about other topics before and it IS worrying. So far he’s said nothing other than that he stands by his review, albeit in a somewhat risky manor.

…okay? I mean, sure man, you do you. Personal opinions and all that. It’s not the best thing written, but it’s good enough to generate a big amount of interest within the CoG community.

That being said, I would like to hear your opinion about the Hero Project series, since it’s one of your favourite works published by CoG.

I agree with @cup_half_empty too; this thread should be closed in order to avoid any future drama.

That’s fair. And I don’t necessarily disagree with you. Of course he doesn’t have to apologize. No one technically has to do anything as long as it’s not a legal obligation. However, it would be respectable.

I too would like to see his review of that series. I’m willing to bet it would be laughably conflicting, especially with this review, but it’d be interesting to read nonetheless.

Given this response:

I’m not sure what the purpose of this thread is, either. It’s not to solicit feedback on the “review,” it’s not to engage in fruitful discussion–given that the author is not going to change their mind about the game in question, and only responds to others while anticipating a fictional backlash that isn’t coming and “being prepared to get slammed.” That isn’t happening, so I don’t see the point. And you state that you didn’t post it on the forum itself so you could control what “is seen or isn’t seen.” So you can host the discussion on your blog, if you like.

You are free to vent about your personal opinions on your blog space, but I’m not sure what you wanted from this specific community other than the negative attention you keep talking about and baiting. That’s not really what this space is here for–the forum is not meant to be a breeding ground to purposefully solicit drama–so…
