lol I literally PM’ed to adrao that I was thinking how it’d be nice turn all those darn rats eating my spellbooks into an undead army without seeing this. Seems we think alike sometimes
In saying that, if it became an option my concern would be there are so many rats, it could unbalance the game. I’d think they’d either need to be very fragile/have a limited lifespan, not have a 100% chance of being resurrected, limit the number we can have at any one time, or perhaps the other rats will attack them first to keep the numbers down?
Hey Adrao, something I did notice (not a massive codey) is that you never set “barter_super_low” only “barter_too_low” could this be it?
Nevermind after reading it more carefully the goto barter_super_low just goes to the *label, I’ll check closer.
Only other thing I noticed was in “if ((bartering_round =1) and (resource_iron >0))” there isn’t a space between the > and 0 (everywhere else in the code I could see there was, not sure if that’d change anything)
I think it could indeed greatly unbalance the game, if you managed to build a huge rat army… but I think it would be a great ending, marching forward with your unbalanced rat army! So, I’m even going to code that as an achievement… like, it would be a balancing act between learning the spells you need, then creating a rat infestation, then killing it and raising it! I will surely code all this!
@TheModdedTrain Let me know if you figure it out… I’m scratching my head over this one… mmmmmmmmm
Ok you got me. Marching to victory with thousands of undead rat minions would be a pretty epic ending
Yeah sorry I looked it over and I’m not quite sure what the problem is. What is the bug being thrown up by the tester? (Or is it just not working properly when you play it?)
Magical human to rat conversion. That’s giving me too many “the witches” flashbacks from my childhood. Not sure I need that described in a game too lol
Thanks for the update.I like how you are giving updates literally everyday and took your readers opinion. And I wanted to ask a question that. Will it be possible in any future update that you can regain your flesh and do the same for your companion/lover?
That is not a bad idea, and could make for another great ending to the game It could even be a great way to introduce another side mission to the game, having to go for a quest for some ingredient! Mmmmmm… what kind of ingredient could this use…
You may have already fixed this, but here’s what I noticed. The quickest you can reach the Stone of the Present is by choice 10 with the interplanar counter at 2 – and the lowest iron resource you can have and be successful is 40 if you offer it right away. Is it even possible to find the forge, gather the required minions, and mine for the necessary materials in that time?
I’ve started a new game to see how I can go building a rat army. I’ve noticed it seems like the rat multiplication seems to have been toned down a bit in the early game (if that’s not just the RNG’s favouring me this time.) I like it a lot better. There’s still stakes because the rotten things are eating my skeletons and spells, but it gives me a fighting chance to prioritise the spells I need before they destroy the library and keep their numbers somewhat under control.
@adrao Idk if you have added this in yet but you should add in a option to obtain new spells since the game does mention that when the rats eats some of your spells, it’ll say to obtain some new spells if the rats had ate a spell you were planning on learning.
I haven’t found any yet, but I kind of assumed maybe you could find spells in the underground or via trade/talking with the other NPC’s (like the teacher?) Not sure though. If you can’t it’d be a great way to replace eaten spells or find new ones of similar or greater power that could sub in for the chewed up ones
I have been working pretty much all day on this… another big update! (sorry, I will answer to everybody tomorrow or Saturday when I get a chance, although some of my answers are below)
New changes:
-You can now raise rats as zombies (two different spells, one for a small number, the second for more rats). These will help to control rat population and also accompany you in battles.
-Ghouls can now be assigned to kill rats in the surface (which will make the population there like you more, and give you more rat corpses)
-There is a new spell to transform into a giant rat (and go into battle in that form)
-You can now establish a cult in the surface through your ghouls
-If you have met the other lich and have good relations there will now be a scene between them and the skeleton hero. You can also ask them what they think about each other.
-There is a new mining event that is going to lead to a new sequence of events (although I have only coded the first event so far…)
