Knight of Greenhaven (77k words) (03/27/25 - Chapter Three Released)

I think that second one is gonna be how I personally start off with. It’s such a subversion of expectations and it sounds too interesting to pass up ngl.

Like, just being a Royal Knight or a knight-errant is one thing, but to be offered the position and refuse? All for the chance at freedom instead/not want to be tied up to the court’s political schemes? That’s amazing and hilarious.

Is there a way to beat both joust and melee or not??

No. If you win the joust you’re too exhausted to keep up in the melee.

Is anyone else joining the melee specifically because there are rumors of war and you are playing your character as someone who would think “I’d better know what this is like so I don’t get surprised?”

Well that’s a let-down, would be epic if you could win both.

Maybe you could add a little section in the stats’ menu for all the titles you achieve.

I assume it should say the house of Sir Colin instead of the house of MC?

ngl when the MC actually fights in a real battle I fully intend for there to be a “holy shit holy shit this is nothing like a tourney melee” moment.

It would be epic but ultimately it would propel the MC too far into Gary Stu/Mary Sue territory, it would overshadow the capabilities of Adrianna and Evelyn (both of whom are meant to be great fighters), and it would be far too advantageous for high combat MCs (who the tourney favours quite heavily already.) These reasons are ultimately why I decided not to do it.

It already stretches suspension of disbelief that a newly-made knight with no prior tournament experience can become a champion on their first go, I don’t want to shatter suspension of disbelief completely.

Good, because it definitely should. Reality always catches you flatfooted, but certain mindsets are still going to try and outrun the odds.

Still one of my favorite wip’s, really excited for the next chapter.

It’s very good. Like a textbook example of a great IF game, the only issue is that it ends too soon!
