Huh, I wonder if drakainas think that dragons are just animals or if they’re… something else than just that? But in my personal opinion, they are. And being an animal doesn’t limit their intelligence. They might be so much more than your average normal or magical creature/animal, but they still fall under that category.

there’s Draikana indicating that in the past well… Alien, yes, likely, animal as in not being sentient? Likely not. Maybe some dragons, likely much older and larger than Sera’s can shift into human form, would probably have made producing the first Draikana less painful at the very least.

I’ve met a few japanese people from other forums such as WolfPlay and Chickensmoothie and there are also youtube videos about the topic. Most of them wouldn’t recommend learning an entire language based on anime. I don’t actually know though, since I’m not a japanese speaker. But I do remember that I learned english from the TV.

Most of them wouldn’t recommend learning an entire language based on anime.

I also wouldn’t and even my mc knows it isn’t ideal. When trying to speak it in addition to butchering the pronunciation he’d use wordings that may be common in anime but weird in actual conversation and so on and so forth. He does speak Spanish relatively well, as he’s been more formally educated in it, as I believe it is the most common second language offered in US high schools and my mc is relatively good at learning languages.

That being said @daydreamsincolor what languages do the various ro’s speak?

What sorts of languages does or can the mc know and understand, besides English?

I’m planning to leave it pretty open to interpretation. As of now, there’s one opportunity in the second book to demonstrate an understanding of French, although it doesn’t help or hurt the MC. It’s also possible there will be opportunities to demonstrate understanding of other languages the ROs’ know.

Isabella was good at languages in college, but that’s about as much as I can say without revealing her backstory.

Kol learnt both Spanish and English growing up, Leon is decent at Egyptian Arabic, Seraphina is fluent in French, Thalia is a native Japanese speaker, and Yakov is a native Russian speaker.

Are you really surprised? After all the mc is the product of just such an “experiment”. Which in the case of mine is also where his issues with his deadbeat “dad” probably, ultimately come from. As the that guy he never was a son or his kid just a project and an investment and his mom probably just a means to an end. Only my mc is fully determined to not give the guy a good return on said “investment”.
