Keeper of Day and Night (Update Post 1932)

There might be but I doubt MC would have access to those results. Conti is already corrupt and protective of his niece so getting any results from any tests they would have conducted would be out of the question I assume.

Oh definitely not. Davina is a horrible person and my MC will not be convinced otherwise. In fact, my MC is always 10 seconds away from getting violent whenever they see Davina, so she’s by no means a good person. I’m not sure how much the professionals will actually help though, since she seems reluctant to tell anyone the truth about what actually happened.

True, but it’s also been stated on the authors Tumblr that some things come to NMC later than the human world. For example, NMC is still a decade behind in memes, which are essential to pop culture. So it’s possible that they’re just way behind in terms of human trends and have their own things instead.

Plus there is a direct ask on the author’s tumblr where she says she purposely never reveals what year it is. I think she said that she did this because she wanted everyone to be able to imagine what time period/year the story was set in on their own (don’t take my word for it though, I could have gotten the reason wrong). I don’t want to dig through all the asks to find it, but I’m sure if you went deep enough it would be there.

Yeah, I saw it. She left the year ambiguous but my point about the Gen Z thing still stands

Gen Z is born between 1995-2015. The numbers are uncertain and some claim Gen Z ends at 2010, 2012, 2014. They all seem to agree it ends somewhere in the mid 2010’s. Most of the ROs are 19-20. Some are 21. Do the math and you’ll get the year. Safe to assume it’s around the 2010’s. If you headcanon they were born in 1995 it’s gonna be set in like 2014. Unless you headcanon that they were born in 2015. But wouldn’t you think the human world would be more advanced then? Especially the tech and fashion. Everything that has been mentioned about the human world either via MC or the characters make it seem like the year is around the late 2010’s, since it all seems so old-fashioned. Not surprising since the first book was written in like 2015 iirc. The human clothes option also gives us clothes that are close to this decade’s fashion style and trends, and we all know how different fashion is from each decade (hey remember ugg boots?). Not to mention the memes MC kept mentioning in book one, referencing to mean girls and the Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell. Unless MC also has a knack for dead memes, which seems strange since they grew up in the human world. I’d say the year could vary, but in my opinion it’s pretty difficult to imagine keeper taking place in 2040, since everything established about the human world seems pretty old-fashioned. But that’s just a theory I have from what I’ve gathered by replaying the books and scouring the blog, it’s still left vague and ambiguous.

Sure but you could also assume they were born in around 2004-2007. That would mean that they’re going to college from somewhere between 2022-2025. Not that hard to believe since I doubt technology would have changed that much in 2 years from now. As for the Mean Girls references, this could just be me but I still reference Mean Girls lol. Truly a great movie.

This last part is just me, but I like thinking that it’s around the 2020s because that would mean the Leon as a Tik Tok E-boy thing could be true.

Edit: anyways, to get back to more important stuff, does anyone have any theories on Reyna being back?? Like my MC killed her in the last book and all of a sudden some Nephilim or Cambion is parading around in her dead body trying to kill MC again. Literally who would do that?

Thanks for making me feel, really, really ancient just now. Kids these days. :older_man: I really wouldn’t call the 2010’s old-fashioned just yet as many of the fashion and other trends “hipsters” and hipster beards, the dreaded “smart” phone, horrendously overpriced coffee, the gig economy, domination of big tech are all still very much present or worse today.
Whatever the genuinely “hip” new thing is of the 2020’s it hasn’t quite arrived, well maybe face masks (with any luck those will spell death to the aforementioned hipster beards). :unamused:

So for my headcanon it’s around 2018 or so in book 2 and Jeb somehow won 2016 in the mundane world, let’s say orange man ate one calorie bomb too many. :persevere: It would keep the timeline of both ambassador Liu and his father being Republican career diplomat appointees intact.

Kids these days only know how to swipe their iphone, snap their chat, insta their gram, tik their tok, dear their delacroix :pensive: so sad

Yeah. Personally I headcanon that they go to first year of college the year book one was released. Which is like 2018. So now I imagine they’re in 2019, and third book is in 2020. At least the peeps in book two (in my hc) gets to avoid the pandemic

Oh god YEAH I forgot that abomination. Just kidding, no matter how many abhorrent life choices Leon makes, I’ll still love him til’ the end of time.

TikTok’s popularity is spread throughout 2018-2020 and still going strong. Leon as a Tik Tok E-boy could be canon for all we know.

Actually, screw this, I’m gonna say this right now. Leon is canonically a tik-tok e-boy and you can’t convince me otherwise

Heard it from the author first and foremost, y’all

i am well aware the author was sarcastic but this has done nothing more but fuel my suspicions

Someone from Frostbite maybe? Or the same person/people who let a Frost Bear and Gorgon pass the wards? Anyway, I’m so worried for my MC’s mental health. Imagine having your worst enemy come back to life, but it’s not really them, it’s just their corpse causing chaos. No wonder MC can’t sleep.

MC has really been going through it in this book. If things are this bad in the second book, I can’t even imagine what MC is going to deal with in the last book. Honestly, if my MC had the option to leave NMC and never return at this point, I think that’s something they would actually consider. Between all the near death experiences, their worst nightmare coming back as a sort of zombie, and some crazy organization (that is apparently run by one of their suitemate’s relatives) trying to kidnap them, I honestly have no idea how things could get crazier.

Also, I would just like to point out how creepy the whole thing with Brant is if you’re dating Seraphina. I don’t know about you guys but the whole “My girlfriend’s dead uncle comes to give my advice in my dreams except he doesn’t really give me advice he just insults me” thing could really put some strain on a relationship in my opinion.

That would make sense, but why would they use Reyna out of all people. I don’t know if this is necessarily true, but to me it seems like possessing an already dead body would take a lot more effort than it’s worth. And I’m not sure how Frostbite would even know about the whole MC/Reyna situtation, unless there was a mole. (Oh crap, is MC getting betrayed by someone yet again. That would really destroy my MC’s ability to trust anyone so I hope not).

@daydreamsincolor is Frostbite aware that MC knows about them? Because if they didn’t know that MC knew what they were up to, then it would make more sense that they’re using Reyna. If they did know that MC knew though, I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just directly go after MC.

Also, how much do you guys want to be that one of the NMC political elites knows about and/or is actively working with Frostbite. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were, considering how corrupt they already are. Plus I doubt a group like Frostbite could continue working as effectively as they do if they weren’t receiveing help from one of the elites, or if one of the political leaders wasn’t at the very least turning a blind eye to them.

Nothing new and won’t surprise me at all, It starts to remind me of the Dresden Files series , where the Mage Governing body had been infiltrate by the Outsiders and at the current time , manage to disable the Mage Council .

I don’t want to think NMC is ultimately corrupted , as i firmly believe there are those who hold on to the initial ideals, but it is possible that it had been infiltrated or manipulated by sinister rivals who are among the elites now , perhaps there are some who notice this as well but was unable to prove anything yet, so there might still be hidden allies wirhin thr elites.

That is not a bad thing at all, because my MC got to beat Reyna again and again , but she comes back for more beating😅 it is like beating a Big Boss in a game , where you would keep laughing everytime you beat them…

So I have been thinking since we know that the MC’s lack of sleep and other problems will cause some emotional issues. I wonder if there could be a scene when they call out the groups problems (for example the group could try to corner the MC to relax or get some time off and they could be like: “Don’t call me out on my issues when you… (and then the MC just lay everything)”.
It could be locked to the specific RO for simplicity’s sake tho.

Thank you! I plan to go more in depth into Roxana in books two/three. She’s a very interesting character, so I’m excited to write more for her!

Thanks for the input!

Emphasis on inaccurate. It’ll be elaborated in-game, but any telepathy/truth potions/etc. that could easily clear up what happened with Davina could be easily tricked and aren’t admissible in a court of law. Results can still affect the court of public opinion, though.

Is there a specific context you mean this in? It’s common knowledge that Frostbite exists, and newcomer MC knows about them because they kidnapped Marcela.

Yep!

I’m playing a kind MC who’s never do that and I love the characters but oh my god I want to roast the suitemates so bad. Not because I dislike them, but because it’d be pretty funny. They all need therapy and MC is going to be the Mom Friend of the group and say, “yeah, but what about you and your feelings?”

But seeing how none of them are emotionally stable enough for that… It’d add more drama.

Can we kill them all ?

In Yakov’s route its mentioned that nobody can really go to the authorities about Frostbite because a lot of the authorities are part of Frostbite. Basically, yeah, there are a ton of corrupt officials.

I look forward to it. I love characters like Roxana who are not good people and manipulate others and also powerful. And I hope that she love the MC’s father I love it and I find it interesting when people like she Fall in love people like the normal and manipulable MC’s father Yet but when she had other plans in mind this brings internal and external conflicts Interesting and wonderful than if she secretly liked Brant Delacroix I think it’s cliché and a little boring relationship for the bad person to fall in love with the good hero. Very anxious to see more of their relationship

Obs:again Sorry my bad english

There’s a post in tumblr about what would be the most hurting thing MC could say to the suitmates, I was thinking however of just MC addressing the problem (for example Astrid’s way of coping) in the most blunt way possible since he is really stressed.
I also play a kind MC that just wants to help (but doesn’t really have the time cause everything thats happening but tries nonetheless!) but it would be interesting how other types of MCs would go about it tho.

I think augustus means in the fact that brant told us to be aware of them…probably

I’ve hit a few… Let’s call them snags on drakaina route if anyone is interested:

You’d taken two magic theory classes last year with Kerr, an easygoing professor universally liked by students. You recognize the woman he’s talking to, although you haven’t had any classes with her: Professor Petrova. The former duelist’s reputation is radically different from Kerr’s— Astrid in particular had gone on tirades about her being evil—so it’s something of a surprise to see them talking to each other.

  • Something messed up here. Since Petrova has Elemental Manipulation MC with elemental ability definitely had those classes… Plus the next scene with her is in class, where she asks MC about peripheral elemental manipulation

Petrova walks in before you can question that, and begins the class without preamble.

“Garathy,” she says sharply. “What’s a limitation of peripheral elemental manipulation compared to affinity elemental manipulation?”

“…What even is an affinity element?”

…and then; while not pursuing any RO’s, but hanging out with Yakov MC meets Petrova again, where she sort of recruit MC to this impromptu taskforce and MC again acts like it’s the first time they meet.

“Close the door behind you,” says Petrova without looking up from her computer.

Yakov complies.

“Hi, I’m Kyle Garathy, I don’t think we’ve met—”

“I know who you are,” she says shortly. She regards you with blank eyes the color of ice. “Sit.”

Then there is the scene in the hospital, when Kol wakes up:

…Seraphina rests her hand on Thalia’s shoulder. “We should go.”

You make your way to the door with the others.

You make your way to the door.

The second “You make your way to the door” is kinda redundant, if you ask me…

  • Another snag is with Julian. MC being a drakaina, means that Julian is a drakaina as well. And it has been said that drakaina normally can’t use the compulsion. MC does it, because of being a keeper, but how is Julian capable of it?

There’s a girl sitting next to Danica who you don’t recognize, who looks too young to be among the nephilim elites—she can’t be older than you.

  • It’s a cambion party, though.

Yeah that’s what I meant. Thanks lol

Edit: Is it possible to compel someone into telling the truth? I’m assuming it is, since if you can compel someone into forgetting something, I don’t see why you couldn’t compel them into telling you the truth about something. Which makes me wonder if anyone ever tried to compel Davina into telling the truth about whether or not she was actually controlled by Reyna. I get that only government officials are allowed to use compulsion, and even then only in specific situations, but I feel like “this girl helped her friend almost summon a demon that would have destroyed NMC” would count as one of those situations.

In the adopted parents play, Roxana meets MC’s mom and calls her Isabella when her name is Alexa.
I think this might be an mistake

I’m curious to see how the investigation into the artifact thefts & Reyna’s motivations will impact the story. I don’t think it was brought up so far, unless I missed something.

I’m also waiting for a directionally-challenged MC to stumble into some world-changing scheme again :eyes:

Bugs/Typos

Kol’s scene was skipped

For the following 2:

MC had one parent (Isabella) present

Kol shouldn’t be present since he went to visit his family.

I got this when I chose to tell Alty about Papa Xander + the current relationship

Got the hunter scene when MC was a regular human.

Also got this as a regular human

*arrival → visited without a friend or pet

Stat page says it’s December

No Major discussion?

Not wrong per se, but he’s technically MC’s boyfriend :stuck_out_tongue:

*kidnapped

^ I noticed the demo updated while I was playing so some of these might be fixed

General feedback/thoughts/questions

My magician!MC would like the option to agree with Celosia (i.e. train in both control and ritual magic)

My MC doesn’t mind sharing his notes (and certainly doesn’t want Leon to fail). A more enthusiastic affirmative or an offer of help would be nice.

Playing with a low relationship, my MC wouldn’t call her ‘Mom’. Chose to call her ‘Isabella’ during character creation. Same thing with Lucas.

Maybe some flavour text with Aunt Dru? (Granny got some after all)

I’m surprised Katia didn’t comment on MC’s choice of drink

Could also mention MC (with Roxana as mom) met with Roland (i.e. more flavour text?)

If sharing majors, could change this to “MC and I are majoring in __”

~

-Can you please add more save slots to the demo when you have time?

-Smooching the ROs under the mistletoe was  Always nice to see Yakov and Sera take the initiative since they’re usually so cool/reserved. Having the ROs open up a bit during that new Thanksgiving scene was also a treat.

(And as a Yakov romancer, I’m excited by this progress?? I feel like he’s warming up, emotionally speaking – smiling more, even snapping at Gisela)

-Still rather suspicious of Tremblay, especially after eavesdropping on him and Sera’s conversation. Also wary of Dominic and Marcela. I feel like Dominic and Tremblay are connected somehow? And Marcela’s rescue seems orchestrated? Who’s to say Frostbite didn’t brainwash/compel her?

-Kinda sad that Keeper Akira died since I wanted/expected to meet him (esp since MC said they were meeting with him during winter solstice). Though I wonder if it’s better that we didn’t – might’ve gotten attached to him before his untimely end  definitely want to investigate his death if, it ever became an option.

-I’m puzzled by the human route. Is it centered around the pet?

-Will we find out what Sera told the parents that had them so freaked out at the beginning of the game?

-I’m glad we got the option to troll Ebner and I hope to continue to do so. Did he know of Lucas’ connection to MC before the two started dating? Also,

Is this Sarah the same Sarah in the magician route?
