Speaking about talented singers who never got their big break, Frankie Lottie (?) is right there. She’s got all the things needed to be an excellent singer but she never got far in her career. She’s stuck doing small tours in small venues despite being in the industry for so long, I appreciate her wish to stay authentic and not use her friendship with G to boost her career but she’s so frustrated with her stagnation that she helped Cory just to get her songs be featured for a minute in BOTB. In the end, marketing makes a huge difference.

i know it’s just my own personal taste, but in my head my MC’s band started as like a pop-punk band, then post breakup moved to more of like a pierce the veil kinda sound. And as more and more bad things happen in the show MC pushes the sound to be more and more angry and aggressive, with the rest of the band just kinda following their lead.
i imagine if there are 20 chapters, by 9-10 they’ll be sounding like knocked loose or thrown, and by 20 it will just be incoherent angry noise that somehow people still like for some reason

Not interested in being better than G.
I do have a problem with ‘karma from Seven’ bits. It does not line up for ‘its about the music’ pathway, honestly. Works for other pathways.
Great songwriter, great singer and cosplay performances.

Mc is not as good as an industry veteran that has managed to remain on top of the music charts for longer than ten years, clearly they have to pack their bags and go home and start sending cvs to grocery stores 
Honestly if the MC was indisputably better than both Seven and Blake (the two most important rivals) from the start I would find that pretty obnoxious and even boring lol. For example I find that Seven doing better than us after the split is way more narratively compelling from both sides. Mc gets to feel the loss of their best friend even more keenly and find it futile, and it works much better to sow the seed of resentment towards their friends if you want to play it that way.
Seven, on the other hand, may have gotten more successful but this is a fairly hollow victory, they clearly have never gotten over losing their best friend and being kicked to the curb no matter how much they pretend otherwise. To add insult to injury, the songs that bring them streams are songs about MC. This is, to me, such a good setup and it colors all of their interactions in such an interesting way, because it’s obvious both of them think the other is doing better without them.
If MC was already doing better professionally it would be like. Okay the band was right when they demoted Seven, you can’t even be that mad because it was only wrong on a personal level. You have found your success but you’re still accused of cheating because even on top of the rank with your 100k followers you’re still small crumbs compared to Blake’s 1 million. On the other hand, Seven’s self-esteem is even lower than it is now (a feat nearly impossible?), and they’re stuck singing scorned lover type songs that don’t even work even though their biggest strength is pulling at people’s heartstrings. Winning over them would feel like kicking an already kicked dog 
Ironically enough if this was the story I would find it much more interesting to play as Seven

My main mc is a mix of Lana del Rey and Léon, I’m going for that ‘cool sad girl’ vibe. The other one is a mix of Damiano from Maneskin, Brandon Urie and Brandon Flowers. Both of them have changed music style after the split and I also headcanon them picking a new name for the band, doing a full rebranding and all that. I used to have a third mc, the sound and vibe was inspired by Catbear, but I’m good with two now.

If Botb doesn’t work out for my MC she totally will go and sings Opera at the theater, her voice is that amazing (and no hating on opera voices, they are amazing and great and fabulous) and we can earn millions as well (look at Andrea Bocelli) and I will help my band to get famous too, so win-win. My MC has more option than only be a singer in a band 
you can be a famous song-writer and performer, producer or even a singing coach for the all the generation out there (no dissing on singing teachers or coaches, they need to have great talent as well)

If things go tits-up, I see a pretty successful SoundCloud rapper career for Ivan in his future and Anna going back to her nepo baby lifestyle. Might as well switch to acting, music cost her her ex-boyfriend. She doesn’t have this much to lose if she simply takes a step away from the scene in comparison to Ivan.

My MC doesn’t even want to be famous, he’s in botb only for his friends. So if this won’t work he’ll be very happy (at least inside) and idk I think he would love to back to univeristy and find his own identity there. Actually I think being singing teacher would suit him well lmfaooo

If BOTB doesn’t work out and my MC Nico’s career crashes and burns she’ll probably work in some rock bar for the rest of her life and constantly reminisce “You know I used to be in a band too…” to people like a wash out.
She doesn’t have any aspirations outside of music so it would be kinda sad to see

I’ve always been more of a fantasy type of person myself in my media but this WIP actually has me feral for more content. God bless the author. My MC isn’t over anything, they want what they believe is there’s and will stop at nothing to obtain it. But perhaps G and 7 will be the kink in their armour. I’m hype
