Infamous if (band wip) chap 3 (457k wrds) released (9/08/2024)

Haha yeah. I actually touched upon this very thing in one of my comments under the latest patreon povs. Like what an ego boost! Im actually hoping at some point someone will just outright say MC is being held back by the band right in front of the whole group or maybe MC can just lay it out on the band when going for a ‘im goin solo’ ending. G makes me laugh with how blatant they are about it, especially during the rehearsal scene where Cory calls them an idiot for saying so lol.

but yes G, tell me more how my voice is like honey and I’m the best!

I also think there’s something, like… both sweet and irritating about G’s blatant favoritism. Because it does cause problems for MC. It alienates them and their band because it looks like they’re cheating, but they really are trying to help MC because they like MC and believe in their talent.

But it’s also a little selfish, in that they clearly wanted to keep Blake out of the competition and also, they’re using MC as a coping mechanism, a new sort of addiction, with little regard to the trouble it makes for MC. No one is going to take their resentment about the favoritism out on superstar G Reign. They’re going to take their resentment out on MC and G doesn’t seem to give it much thought.

Yes, this is exactly why I’ve been giving G the side-eye from the beginning. I’m not even fully convinced how much they care about the MC on a personal level at the moment. They are so wrapped up in their own self-pity that I don’t think there’s room for much else.

I get why they’re like this, of course. I’m hopeful that we eventually can shake them out of this stupor, lol.

Righttt, like, wow :star_struck: how can MC not develop a big head with the most famous person on earth gassing them up? And MC almost exclusively at that? Mwah, beautiful, no notes, etc., etc.

Ooh, yeah. G likes the way MC/MC’s voice makes them feel. They like feeling like they’re using their status for something good, but they don’t know MC, so how much can they really care, you know? They’re chasing a temporary high at the moment, so it’ll be interesting to see how that relationship develops on both a platonic and romantic route.

For real, I just want them to be sort of OK at the end (if I have any say over it); G got famous at 16 and then no one really looked out for them. Now they’re in a bit of state of arrested development, never alone but always isolated, and can’t enjoy the one thing that they love.

No wonder they do the things they do to numb themselves to it (and cling way to hard to meager life raft that is the MC’s music). I don’t envy them.

Yeah as all ya’ll have said it is pretty blatant that G is using us to feck over Blake and if there’s fallout it ain’t gonna be G that is the target it’ll be the MC which is one of my reasons for not going for the let’s ruin ValenReign thing cuz that will make the hatred people have even worse and likely get the band/MC blacklisted from ever possibly being a singer let alone in the Industry.

Mhm! I really just want to tuck them in with milk and cookies. Sixteen, goodness, they were a baby with the weight of the world on their shoulders. It’s so terribly tragic that the only bright spot in their adult life is a stranger whose voice they like.

And it’s a little sad for MC, too, who is always, for some reason, getting the burden of other people’s happiness put on them.

MC just existing to be everyone’s punching bag more or less…

Right :sob: like, MC is getting put between a rock and a hard place through no fault of their own. But I live for drama, so I love it, unfortunately for MC.

This feels so common in IFs with a lot of interpersonal drama, haha. I just want someone to look out for my characters once in a while

I think your specific strain of Chaos Gremlinism will enjoy how this one is shaping up:

If the MC doesn’t get the chance to lash out with a very pissed off song ala Taylor Swift Reputation Era I’ll be disappointed.

Probably one of the reasons I cannot stand G. While Seven is a royal pain in the behind, at least their shenanigans don’t have any direct effect on MC’s career (right now, at least), but G is knowingly putting MC and band in a tough spot knowing that if this blows up G will come out relatively unscathed while MC and band will probably have to go back to performing in seedy bars or something. You can play with my feelings but don’t play with my money🙄

Oh, totally! I like G, but I’m not sure they understand the consequences of their actions. They have valid reasons for feeling the way they do, I understand why they act the way they act, but they’re caught up in themselves and it blinds them to how they impact other people.

MC makes them feel happy and inspired, so they chase that feeling without stopping to think about the damage they might do to MC. It’s the same way they treat Victoria, really. They act out because they feel trapped, but they’re not the one who deals with the blowback that their rebellion causes — Victoria is, because they’re a brand and she has less power in the industry than G.

This is it, really. No one’s going to hold G’s behavior against them because too many powerful people make insane amounts of money off of their labor. This isn’t to say they’ve had things easy (they clearly haven’t), but they’ve probably been shielded from any true, long lasting repercussions — externally, at least. They’re allowed to destroy their personal life, as long as they can still work.

G doesn’t care about the optics, but G is famous enough that the optics don’t matter. The people around them do not enjoy that benefit.

Uhhhhhh
I saw some posts, and I saw some people talking about friends or the band itself, and well, maybe that’s just perceptive in the rewrite or something, but what’s wrong with the band? Are they bad friends?
Jesus, I hope it’s something profound that you need to read several times, see the patreon or something, because if it’s something “obvious”, I’ll be very sad about my social incapacity and especially, my inability to see behind red flags ;-;

Honestly, even with my part in the conversation up there, I don’t really think it’s as bad as all that. I rather like the friends/the band (moments of pretty average selfishness aside).

It’s nothing outside of the realm of your average friendships, I think.

I understand I understand
I’m unfortunately terrible at social, so sometimes I end up not noticing these things in IFs, and when I do, it’s too late so I choose to ignore them (although normally I also ignore them lol)
After all, I’m just curious about it hehehe :stuck_out_tongue:
