I think (what I read from code diving) that for MCs in love with Seven - yes, they do seem jealous at times (which, again, even if they are jealous it doesn’t mean they’re not telling us the truth about what they’re seeing). Especially during that scene in the recent update that probably killed a few Sevenmancers lolol.
But for everyone else, and my own MC, no I don’t think the game forces you to! Which has confused me even more as to where this “Infamous MC isn’t a reliable storyteller” stuff is even coming from lol.
I romanced Seven and made him an ex of both of my characters, and aside from that scene in the bus with Soft Violence… not enough, in my opinion. And no aggressive jealousy either.
Messy enemies-to-lovers without unholy jealousy added into the mix? That ain’t it.
I haven’t read the original post you guys are referring to but it feels pretty clear to me that what it intended to say was simply that MC isn’t an omniscient unbiased narrator lol. They don’t know everything, so some of the stuff they believe now may end up being wrong. They only know their own side of the story, since they’re
not omniscient. This is what every protagonist POV does, in every story, we’re watching the story filtered through their eyes.
Yep. I should apologize and go eye fuck them immediately!
I just asked my husband if it’s okay for me to snuggle and sleep with my friends (they’re all pretty much male) and he just glared at me with an evil eye, lol. I pointed out that it’s supposedly a healthy way to handle your friendships!
I wish you could just tell Seven and Avina to fuck off and that you don’t care if they’re eye-fucking or snuggling or whatever because you don’t care (even if you do).
For a reality show it seems we have a pretty mild palette of drama for now. No one started to tear out people’s hair and created a clique save for Blake, only one fight and only two scenes of drug use… I know I want to see Ivan punch someone right in the face again, that fight scene awakened my thirst for drama and blood.
Sure, of course, they’re not omnipotent. But the MC reacting to the world and people around them with the few facts they have is very different than them being an unreliable narrator, which is a storytelling device in itself. It would change the literal entire story. And honestly, that would be really a fun twist and I would eat every bit of it up but I don’t think that’s where this story is going. That’s where my confusion came in when I opened the thread.
I’m waiting on a bunch of restores to finish and decided to create my Russian grump–Roza Voronina (stage name Roza Crowe)–and she already wants to punch someone. And she’s only made it to the bar scene.
But yeah, right now it feels like mild drama, with the MC being the show’s (and Blake’s and Seven’s and SV’s…) kickball.
Oh, that surname is kinda fun. Voroniny is a live series that was popular here, an adaptation of Everybody Loves Raymond with Russian twist.
It’s one of the things most people from 2000s know at least a bit about, one of the most popular slice of lifes that… I think it’s still running, lol. Oh, no it ain’t.
This made me laugh! I was quite snuggly at times with (platonic) friends in my early-mid 20s, but I’d always draw the line at bed-sharing, that’s pretty much something I would only do with my wife or son (maybe my sibling or parents at a pinch). Though it seems that’s how Seven is with their friends, so I guess they just have different approaches - I know a few people who would happily share beds with friends platonically even if they were of genders that they could be interested in romantically.
Edit: oh in my reminiscing I got distracted from something I wanted to ask:
Is it presented as something that’s meant to be healthy? It looks a bit clingy/seven repeating codependent habits to me, though admittedly I haven’t played the subscriber update or read much of the Tumblr q&as.
I mean, Avina might not be the opposite sex of Seven. They go by they/them but they don’t appear to be androgynous, so are we just assuming they were assigned a woman a birth based on their feminine appearance ? Or…has it been stated and I just missed it? This isn’t to say same sex relationships are any less than a heterochromatic by the way, more a curiosity. Seven and Avina could potentially be the same sex if that somehow makes bed-sharing less weird to some people, but just stating again, gender doesn’t make it any less valid.
I so want to have my MC nickname them Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum(b). I think I’m going to have to head canon it. I could just imagine the rage on Seven’s face. And I think G would roll on the floor laughing.
I mean, if there was nowhere else to sleep, I’ve done that before (before I got married), but I wouldn’t do it now. Never been “snuggly” with my friends, though. I’ve had some extreme huggers as friends, who could not be deterred. And me and one of the few good female friends I ever had used to pretend to be more just to irritate our male friends who always joked around about us being hot together and wanting to be in the “middle of that”. We couldn’t resist the urge to jerk their chains.
Originally, I thought it was meant to be seen as just as unhealthy as MC and Seven’s friendship/relationship. But the responses on tumblr have left me thinking that it’s supposed to be seen as healthy and normal, and just the way Savina operates. I could be wrong (it happens!), but that’s the general feeling I get from the tumblr asks, as well as stuff on Patreon.
Are Tumblr asks always like that, or have I been burned by Wayhaven too hard? I don’t really get into demo tumblrs because I feel I’ll see something that will just burn me again and kinda will ruin headcanons I have.
About tumblrs... at least, my limited experience and opinion
The only ones I really read are Wayhaven (and we know how that goes), Infamous (because Amy puts a lot out there, some of which is only temporary before she deletes it), and Aelsa’s for Fernweh (partly because I have to download them in their entirety because I refuse to have a tumblr account).
The only one that isn’t “like that” is Aelsa’s. The Fernweh Saga tumblr is pretty straightforward, and she doesn’t really do anything that would ruin head canons for you.
So yeah, you’d probably get burned with this tumblr. Most of the negative (albeit joking??) comments are directed at the MC, though, unlike with WH.
I wonder how much I’ll have to headcanon for Seven and Ivan. I genuinely like the dynamic of ex-lovers-to enemies-to lovers, I like the mess it seemed to be and like Seven as he is described in text, not how he acts, but I feel me and the book are in severe dissonance with each other. Anna? Feels like some parts were made just for her (Blake not being a cunt at the bus stop, saving Sebastian at the bar) and I like how she fits in.
With Ivan it’s pretty alright most of the time, but when it’s Seven it’s like I’m a bloody golddigger on an Alaskan vein and my fingers have already turned purple in search for gold. I did find some! But I also have dreamed of so much more…
By the way, I remember recommending you Mecha Ace. Is that poof and void, or do I just need time?
No! You only get the jealousy flavor text if you chose that you’re “in love” with Seven during that scene at the party. (Edit: Also it’s really not too bad anyway just one sentence, MC doesn’t harp on it or anything.)
