Who is the Death God? The one that I’m aware of is Hela. I’m pretty sure that there are no gods of death besides her. And she is definitely not the strongest God or Goddess ever.
the other person is talking about the mc, which you can optionally choose to become the god of death
Ok, I got it. This conversation had given me a slight headache. MC becoming a death god out of the blue and that somehow making them strong enough to defy fate makes a norse fan part of me rebel a little.
Hela wasn’t born yet when the death God MC manifested or born I don’t know and we get to meet her when she is a kid this is our domain not hers
WOoow. Talk about a character assassination, holy fuck. Like what? How does that even work timeline-wise? Angrboda birthing Fenris, Jormungandr, and Hela is what starts the prophecy of Ragnarok.
what timeline are you talking about in the game, like sure those three are connected to ragnarok but they are not what starts it, it is either loki leading the charge along side the giants, fenrir and jormungandr if you fail to convince him to leave or surtr and the sons of Muspelheim or heck our mc leading with there own army if they turn there back on odin
What starts Ragnarok is the death of Baldr - the god of light - which start Fimbulvetr. When the prophecy is read to Odin happened way before that. It happened right after or soon after Angrboda gave birth to Hela, Fenris, and Jormungandr. Odin knowing the future is what it had prompted for this future to happen. Jormungandr was thrown in the sea in Midgard, Fenris was kept at Asgard, and Hela was put in Niffleheim where she became the ruler of. Fenris had scared the gods due to his abnormaly fast growth which had prompted the gods to try and imprison him with Gleipnir underneath a mountain.
The timeline of this game apparently starts after Loki killed Baldr and have been imprisoned. A very late start for such an epic tale but sure whatever.
How is Hela not birthed? She is a twin to Fenris and Jormungandr.
sure the game make some little changes to the lore, but I do know that hela is born and is optionally chosen as a ruler of helheim
She doesn’t become the ruler because it is our domain our Kingdom and we can take her as an apprentice and you know what you should play the game
bruh as i said optionally, she does become the ruler if our mc does not choose to become the god of death and we let odin send her to helheim
I’m generally in agreement with you on everything you said, but I wanted to quickly note that it isn’t fair to tell readers to go hunt down WIP threads to understand decisions that authors make or to better clarify whether or not a game has a feature that the reader wanted. All information should be available when the customer sees the informational blurb trying to convince them to buy.
Now, in this case, I think that this specific blurb DID include information on whether or not there were romances, but I just don’t really want to see “you should have been following the WIP thread to better know what you are buying” become a common part of our culture in this forum for future publications.
Congrats to the author for publishing!
I didn’t mention the WIP thread to imply the poster should have read it; I was just saying how I knew what was going on in the author’s mind. (Please note that my actual post has a paragraph break that your quote leaves out.) I said that if they want to know if there’s romance (the blurb that I read didn’t specifically state that there wasn’t), they should ask in the release thread, and I stand by that.
Honestly, although I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, I’m pretty annoyed that you managed to abridge and regroup my words so that they seem to be saying something other than what I actually said.
It sounds like you haven’t read the game and you expect the story to be completely truthful of what’s happened in the edda. The author decided to change certain elements to better fit the narrative. That’s a common approach to many of these games based on legends, myths or even historical events.
Yeah, I didn’t. Once I have read that we pick up Mjollnir and befriend Fenris, I’ve chalked it up to the kind of stories that neither build a story up from what we know of Norse myth nor the one that is interested in staying faithful to the Norse myth. The kind of story that is all about one upping the Norse gods for the sake of power fantasy.
The deal with MC taking over what would have been Hela’s role in the Myth only solidified this. Also, something about Death MC being more powerful than fate, for whatever reason.
Because let’s face it everything dies the star dies the suns dies the flames die planets die plants die universes and galaxies die even gods die and guess who do they go to death for Death is the inevitable truth for everything
Author here.
My interpretation of the myths has always been cyclical, so I would argue that Ragnarok starts long before the birth of Loki’s children - it’s effectively baked into the gods from as soon as they exist that their own flaws will destroy them.
As far as timelines go, the Eddas are rather unclear, so I did my best to piece together one that makes sense. The first real event in the game is the wall being built around Asgard, long before Hel, Fenrir and Jormungandr are born.
All in all, I have made some changes to make the plot work for a CYOA game - the most notable being that there are options, but I have tried to stay as close to the source material as I could. I do really love these myths, after all.
The player chooses right at the beginning which domain they want. If they choose death, it naturally changes Hel’s later role in the story.
Is anyone have achievement guide for this game?
Not yet? Am I supposed to have made one? It seems like that would defeat the point a bit, but if you are having trouble with a specific one feel free to DM me for a hint.
oh no you don’t actually need to make one for the game, they were just asking if anyone has mapped a route to get some achivements
